the red dot here marks bunker WN-65, and you can clearly see most of the dead are clumped in front of that; severloh said he was at WN-62, located farther down the beach (to the right from our perspective). more specifically, his position in WN-62 looked NE along fox green, and fox green and fox red were the sectors the americans had their first breakthroughs on omaha. also, if you actually read his book, it says he "fired some 12,000 rounds", and i cant find where he himself made the 2k casualty claim. seems to me like people trying to inflate his count after his own time
