I wish Henry would come out with a .22lr/.22 mag Henry Original to bring it just a little bit closer to the original 1860 purely because of rimfire.

>Colt makes percussion revolvers, initially in a very small bore due to weak metal
>Colt makes larger Walkers that intentionally have to be underloaded so they wont explode because of this poor steel
>Once he gets access to better metal he makes smaller revolvers .44 instead of the old .36
>During this time the "stopping power" meme had no contest because it was basically just small bore bullets that could be reflected by some thick coats and .44
>On all these old revolvers the cylinder was always the weakest link
>Not once did anyone decide to put a longer and thicker .44 cylinder with the higher-quality steel on a small steel frame and barrel for muh stopping power and compactness

>implying the Remington rolling block pistol never existed

Im talking about a hypothetical 1860 colt open-top style revolver with a longer and thicker cylinder, which would bring the powder charge max from 40 to 60/80 with lead balls. Thats assuming the better steel and thick walls would do the job.

yeh, i reckond so pardner. but for knockin power you can't beat 50 cal ball.

Yeah I was thinking that too. If they had steel that could resist higher pressures they could've made a .50 walker aswell, imagine that.

makes me feel like a cowboy

Lol try again faggot

I was finger-banging a Ruger Vaquero at the fun store yesterday. Should I get it?

I'm always tempted to get one of those reloader tools, but I always have a weird vision where I have to put it on a table and push down on it because the bullet isn't seating right or something

Yes, I own a 5.5" of that exact style and it is one my most favorite guns. You won't regret it.
45lc or .357?

Idk why the fuck it orientated that way

Good thread to ask: what's the most economical revolver cartridge to get into? Price per shot, modern availability, etc?

Obvious answer is .22, but if you're looking for something more meaty, get .357 because it can handle .38 special, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than .44 special and .45 colt

Cool, I'm really wanting to get a Colt Peacemaker eventually. For now I'm more than happy to start plinking with a Heritage Arms 22lr.

This is a problematic part of American history geez

Why user what an Ugly thing to say...does this mean we're not friends anymore?

I dont get this? Was it supposed to be bait? What are your referring too? If not you should probably go to the doctor as you have brain damage

.357. I already have some .357 revolvers, so it cuts down on the types of ammo I have to keep stocked.

It was me being retarded; just trying to gauge reaction
Personally I feel like this type of period is what foreigners and """liberals"""" need to be pointed to when they ask why the USA has an immense gun culture: it's because for many if not most Americans throughout our history, such was seen as (and for some, still is) an actual necessity, especially when living near a frontier. Whether wild animal, bandit, or some unforseen frontier conflict flaring up you needed to be able to defend yourself and your families otherwise you'd end up plain dead.
That's beyond hunting and the like.
As for cowboys and post riders it was also necessary to protect their herds/cargo from rivals and bandits. Armored car drivers still sort of carry that legacy today.
