Can you Jow Forumsunts tell me why this aircraft is memed all the time? Why is the Super Tucano successful for its class (Trained/Coin Craft).

I mean, there's a fuckton of turboprop trainer craft out there that can be armed in a jiffy, but why does this get to be the superstar among them?

I dunno. I thought the Tucano was a cool plane even when I was a kid. Maybe it just looks cool. But it's also like, if jets had never been invented, what would the state of the art warplane look like? This.

The T-6 is a better aircraft in most ways, but the Super Taco gets press because it's a symbol of Brazilian national pride.

I like it because of how ridiculously expensive it is for what it does

The differences between a turboprop and a trubojet aren't huge. They are turbine engines, just a different kind.

what, we usually make jokes about our country not being able to develop a jet and only ww2 planes

The Super Tucano is a dedicated light attack aircraft. Not a trainer. That would be the Tucano.

Tucan'tno is a shit plane for poor people.

Because it's brazillians, and brazillians are naturally proud of their country's thing. And there's proportionally lots of brazillian posters.
If there were lots of Saffa posters you'd have the ratel IFV and the G6 SPG being memed all the time.
It's not fucking rocket science dude.

>all these nations are buying a clearly inferior airplane just because the Tucano is a huehue pride
You are as dumb as the average brazilian, user.

Because it is literally
>This one weird trick that your general doesn't know about

>when the symbol of your national pride is a WW2-tier turboprop plane

Then imagine it has a V12.

It’s been doing the majority of CAS missions in Afghanistan since early 2016

It drops GBU 12 bombs cheaply

>Gunpod.

It’s been effective policing South American airspace from trafficking. There’s a vid on YouTube of some spooks directing a tucano to shoot down a smugglers plane.

It is a good recon/border patrol plane for developing nations.

F35 tactitards get pretty upset when other planes are capable of taking out targets

>and brazillians are naturally proud of their country's thing
Quite the contrary, Brazilians are one of the most self-hating, cultural cringe groups out there

Its a cheap to buy/operate light attack aircraft capable of carrying 1550 kg of munitions.

In contrast trainers armed can only into 1000-1500 kg range of payload.
