Everyone's tripping about teachers packing heat, but what if they had a non-lethal method of taking out a school shooter? Like, a pistol loaded with pepper balls like the pigs have. A pepper ball grenade. A security system running throughout the entire school that uses intense noise/light strobes to incapacitate anyone inside the school. A non-lethal gas delivery system that knocks out everyone inside the school. Dogs that are trained to take out active shooters. Fuck it, attack parrots. You ever try shooting an angry bird that's attacking your face? There's so many possibilities

pepper spray is really potent, a face mask is really not gonna do it unless they come in with a professional gas mask which is a risk. I'll bet if you hosed them with an OC spray fire extinguisher like prison guards have no mask would save you. And at any rate, that's just one idea. My point is there are non-lethal methods for dealing with active shooters that we can get into schools way faster than guns. The ultimate goal is obviously to arm teachers with lethal weapons.

If you're going by "things parents are most likely to accept", then I'd start by getting 3M security film on all windows bulletproof doors for classrooms, and increasing the amount of security guards.

You seem to forget the basic rules of armed combat here, the main one being maintaining distance between you and your enemy. A gunman doesn't have to get close, anyone trying to stop him/her will, distance is his greatest ally, it provides him with time to respond to threats that take time to get close to him/her.

Part of being trained to use pepper/OC spray is getting sprayed, then running an obstacle course just to show the user that it is in fact possible to continue fighting after being sprayed. OC is bullshit and you should never depend on it.

They're the Russian PMK-4 mask the SF guy is wearing one of the very early versions, and the normal infantryman is using the issued version. It's included in the Ratnik programme since 2017. The company that makes them hasn't made them commercially available and it seems they have no plans to do so. Unless you can find some guy in a Russian guard unit to 'lose' one of them. They use the 40mm GOST thread tho, so no NATO filters 4u.

My highschool had big still double doors at the end of every hallway that could be closed and locked very quickly. That was in the 90's and the janitor and principle were the only people with the keys if they got closed by students.

Jow Forums constantly debates the lethality of 45 vs 9 vs 40. You are never going to get us to agree to "non-lethal" options at stopping a shooter.
Even lethal options are not 100% effective and less-lethal options are far less effective at stopping someone. Especially when adrenaline is running. The single most effective way to stop someone from killing other people in these types of situations is to stop them permanently.

So the teachers could set the school alarm into lockdown mode and then the shooter would be blasted with pepper spray wherever he was. Bonus pts: Use CS gas

A non-lethal solution to an active shooter is not a fucking solution. I'm all for talking and diplomacy when they're not actively murdering people at the moment, because successful negotiations mean the hostages live, the bad guy lives and can be properly tried and learned from, and the cops live. Nobody leaving with superfluous holes is ideal. But we do not live in an ideal world. When someone is actively trying to kill you or someone else, the best solution is the one that fucking stops them the most frequently with the least possible risk to "good guys" and victims, and that solution is bullets, as many as you can put into him. Having the heart and lungs perforated stops people a lot more frequently than being gently electrocuted or getting pepper sprayed. Best end to an incident a SWAT team can have is nobody leaving in a body bag or on a stretcher, bad guy captured for trial and information. The next best day they can have is the shooter leaving in a body bag or on a stretcher, and no more than some bruising for cops and hostages. The second worst day they can have is the shooter an heroing and leaving in a body bag along with dozens of victims, and many times that number in ambulances, but at least he didn't get everyone, all because some fucktard decided that pepper spray or nondescript knockout gas was an acceptable solution to a retarded psychopath rampaging through the halls with a semiauto rifle. The worst day of course being they lose team members as well.
