Looks like they took a punch or something to the chamber, there are several nicks I failed to notice on the chamber face until I shot it in November. Had to get it checked out because every case stuck, was hoping it was just headspace and I wouldn't need a 3 or 4 head. That's still a bit of an issue but there's bulging at the rear of the case, a small crimp at line of the neck and shoulder at one point on the cases (which I missed when looking over my brass) as well as other little signs on the brass of slight flash back in the chamber. Gunsmith advised against shooting it further by saying 'how much to you value your eyesight.'

Most aren't "unissued". The Yugos weren't making guns for no reason at all. Most guns that you see that are "unissued" are issued guns that got rebuilt and put into storage. The Yugos were very meticulous about maintaining their guns. More people would know about this if dealers and importers actually cared about handing out the log books that each gun had. Every log book tells when the gun was made, what parts were replaced and when and when they were packed in cosmoline, when they were checked and repacked in cosmoline, etc.

Have a buddy in Zagreb, he tells me that his high school had mandatory arms training and they used the K98/M48. Basically each school and large factory were required to keep them on-hand for SHTF emergencies.
BTW, lot of Yugo SKSs came from Croatian police confiscations

And if you really want a unicorn, try to find a Japanese K98k. The IJN contracted out 30,000 of them. The problem is, that they were taken straight off the German assembly line and are marked exactly the same as any in German service. In fact, the Japanese stipulated this because a couple years before the Chinese had contracted out K98ks, but they used substandard and rejected parts for theirs.
