yes, of course.

Post the thread or his post to see his arguments.

Of course not. A paper tiger would imply that the modern Russia military had the appearance of strength in the first place.

The retard with the confederate flag

Savage. But fair.

To be fair, they were always one, the soviet army was only strong in WW2 after having their entire country invaded, after it they were always about having more numbers than the other's, till the day america surpassed them on it as well, the quality of their weapons or their training was never good, wan't for the nuclear menace I'm not sure the soviets would have lasted so much in the cold war

They could probably hit the Rhine in the 80s if they decided to rush the Fulda Gap. Not sure how well they'd fare in the aftermath, though.

russia has nice tech but cant afford to make much of it. their army is big but also pretty fucking corrupt

>bringing Jow Forums drama here
Git

>Implying there isn't a thread like this on Jow Forums at least once a day

They would still suffer some heavy losses on this, and them you know, the counter attack from across the atlantic would be fatal

This, grow up and face your own dramas Op, or simple admit you know shit, you could acuse him of being a joo too you know, it's the greatest tatic on Jow Forums warfare

There was a weaboo from /a/ saying the Japanese Navy's a joke. So is it?

That's why they relied on both military and political aggression. Have You read the "Red Army"?

If they have the ability to potentially incinerate millions of people with the push of a button, they're not a paper tiger.

Attached: nuclear_blast.jpg (1024x768, 106K)

They're definitely un-invadable due to their nuclear deterrent, but when it comes to conventional offensive military capabilities, they're pretty consistently overrated by people that still think it's 1983.

I know, just a fictious scenario here

But that's exactly what they said, their only threat come from the nukes, without them they are on par with EU forces with luck at best

Yes. You know what's even sadder, Russia as the USSR basically spent themselves to destruction and they didn't even get a decent military out of it. Without nukes NATO would have absorbed Russia's attacked and rolled over into an unstoppable offensive within 2 weeks at the most.

Who knows how much of what they have even on paper is even functional. Their missiles have a history of faulty components. Remember that video of a ka50 hitting some journalists?

The military said it was pilot error but that just sounds like a hard cope for poor workmanship.

Not that I agree with the guy you replied to, but the Russian nuclear deterrent is definitely more significant than Britain, France, and NATO nuclear sharing partners deterrents'. They have significantly more ICBM, SLBM, and cruise warheads, while the UK and France rely on a minimal SLBM deterrent, and the rest of NATO uses American gravity bombs.

America played their cards well in the cold war, Russia never realized how stupid the idea of a conventional war looked like despite they creating the idea of a nuclear winter, reagan and star wars really put the nail in the coffin that was built with time

Cletus is by far the smartest person in that thread.

Guess Jow Forums is really predictable, someone indeed used the joo card

Each year they are becoming more so, just look at their navy.

id say its more like a badly taxidermied tiger. something that was once a living threat, but then died and was put back together by people who didnt know what they were doing. the only way it could kill you now is if it fell on you.

fuck yes it is lol. US vs Russia would see russia being absolutely steamrolled. the Kuznetzov right now is a good metaphor for their whole military

As much as I love slavic aesthetics yeah, Russia is pretty garbage-tier that only got as far as it did by having an absolute fuckhuge military with a never ending supply of cannon fodder troops.

He's a full time employee of the Russian government, of course he's always here.
That or he's an unemployed krokodil addict like the rest of his country
Or probably both!

somebody posted pic some time ago explaning armatard
bascially he's suicidial neet living in falling apart commie block in some rural shitty russian town, he's afraid of his family coming to him and seeing in how shitty state he is

You seem to know more than me, where does the name "armatard" even come from anyways?

This. Russia isn't what it was, but it can still bully virtually all of its neighbors, and nuke shit.

when t-14 armata was first annouced armatard was arguing that it was the best tank ever, people reminded him that we literally no nothing about it yet he kept posting that it was abrams killer and how US is doomed etc.
he was in literally every armata thread shitting it up with his vatnik cope
i remeber that he was arguing like an dog with rabies that armata is smaller than the abrams, when it turned out it's not true he was using typcial russian tactics of muttposting, le 56% etc.
bascially he got his name from there and it stick
still wonder why mods didn't perma banned him

Thank you for an actual answer. I've seen him banned a few times, sadly just 3 dayers

>broke in 1917
>broke after 1945
>broke during the cold war
>got all of its satellite territories confiscated, still poor and broke as fuck
Russia is a good bogeyman for US generals to shill for more funding, but they have literally zero means to wage a war on a strategic scale - not like they legitimately did after the 70s anyway. Very good innovators though considering that their R&D is funded exclusively by vodka fumes and anger. "Paper Tiger" is subjective though, russia could definitely lay the pain train on present-day eurofag militaries. It's much less of that Russia is weak as fuck and more of that the world is living in a period of peace and downsizing, while we still have a standing army that could destroy every other military in the world three times over without issue.

Anyone remember the Foxbat story?
I'd recommend looking up "Viktor Belenko" and reading about it but to sum it up:
>Ruskies reveal new Mig-25 Interceptor the west calls "Foxbat"
>Boasting about how it can shoot down SR-71s
>During an airshow Foxbat clocks in fastest plane by a longshot, making the west genuinely concerned
>US doesn't fly SR-71s near Russia for awhile
>Foxbat pilot uses the limited fuel (specifically given to Russian pilots during the cold war so they don't defect) to land at a civilian airport in Japan
>Americans come and disassemble plane and analyze it in a heartbeat
>Not only could it barely hold a candle to SR-71 but the stunt at the airshow was predicted to give the plane an engine meltdown if done for more than a few seconds
>Plane was built to show off and not actually perform
>US starts flying SR-71s again gleefully knowing Russian "engineering" is clearly unmatched

Learn your lesson Americans, stop taking the Russian military threat seriously. Ask any engineer, they'll tell you.

something similiar happend with Myasishchev M-4 or some other bombers
>soviets only build few of them
>want to make west thing they have much more
>durring parade on red square same bombers after flying over it just do a loop and come back making it look like there's at lest double of what the soviets showed
>later americans do pictures of bases with m-4 stationed in them and count them
>even less than in lowest estimates

Ahahahaha nice, never heard that one before.

I actually just remembered something pretty funny from the Foxbat story. Obviously the Russians were demanding their plane and pilot back, and after some "bureaucratic delays" Russia got their plane sent back to them... in 2 boxes of disassembled parts. Boy were they mad, but since they technically got the plane back the US called it good and ended negotiations. Also the pilot got put in witness protection or something and defected to the US, pretty common.

ironic that the soviets got mad especially since they got their first AA missles becasue sidewinder got stuck in the ass of chinese mig-17 and didn't explode

Is this what Napoleon and Hitler said?

fun fact: modern world does not apply to the old world

The mighty T 14 had to be towed off parade. It ate the tractor gear box they installed in it and it broke down on parade. Like everything Russia does, it just ends in disappointment.

>Switzerland repelled every invasion attempt for centuries
>they definitely won't fall to Napoleon's forces

I still wonder, how Soviets wanted to wage war against NATO if the slave labor of conscripts was the only thing making collective agriculture viable. Seven days to Rhine, seven months to starvation.
On the other hand, knowing that simple embargo in Canadian grain would liberate the whole combloc back in sixties leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
Why are Germans investing billions in Putin country even after MH17?
Why hadn't USA cut off Moscow from SWIFT after annexation of Crimea ?

Attached: IMG_20190510_190422.jpg (610x486, 149K)

It is good enough for shitting onto neighbors (and getting surprised that nobody likes Russia) and causing some headache around the World.

Read his post you replied to again.

yes

>without them they are on par with EU forces with luck at best

EU forces fucking crush Russian capabilities in the Air on Land and at sea.

>Why are Germans investing billions in Putin country even after MH17?
People with a lot of money (ie investors) tend to only give a fuck about making more money. Politicians who don't know they probably won't stand a Uckington chance in the next election if electricity prices suddenly bumped up 50%.

>Why hadn't USA cut off Moscow from SWIFT after annexation of Crimea ?
At the very least that'd leave plenty of people in the investment/banking side of things cut off form the potentially very lucrative Russian market (especially if you don't have any moral objections to laundering Putin's loot), and if shit's as bad as it might be then the GOP might have been flush with rubles already at that point.

>Why are Germans investing billions in Putin country even after MH17?
>Why hadn't USA cut off Moscow from SWIFT after annexation of Crimea ?
You're not asking the real question. The real question is, why did the US save Russia instead of letting it crumble during the 90s?

I actually know the reason but let's see if you do as well.

It is decent.
T14 is a good tank, not as good as the NATO counterparts but close. Not that it would matter since Russia won't produce a significant number of them.
Their main tank units? They will die like flies, cracked open by helicopters and jets and after that they'll face our tanks.
Air force is antiquated and so is the Navy.
Infantry is decently armed and will fight fiercely. Gotta admit, Russian soldiers prolly are tougher since they grew up in harsh conditions and went through equally harsh training.
Morals are bad because of corruption and bad pay.

The Russian government isn't stupid though, they knew that they coudln't win a conventional arms race and put all the money into nuclear arms.
Besides the US they are the only country that can launch nuclear wepons from sea, air and land and boy they are flexing. Their newest ICBM RS-28 Sarmat delivers 50MT of buttfuck split up between 10-24 MIRVs at 16.000 mph. which will hit any target in the US from anywhere in Russia and can't be stopped. Shit is so bad it's older brother is called SS-18 Satan by NATO, people call this new missile Satan II already.

Here is the latest in depth rundown on him including the picture requested in and links to older stuff about him.
desuarchive.org/k/thread/41073706/#41077815

Russian airforce and navy is still pretty trash but they could fuck up Ukraine and the Baltic states, wouldn't expect NATO to be capable of either being pushed back or they themselves pushing though

>got to 5k
>winner completes in 15 minutes
>second places comes in at 35 minutes
>everyone else ranges from 35-50
>still suck ass even though you're second
That's russia. A fat, out of shape piece of shit who slightly outperforms other fat, out of shape pieces of shit. Except they're not even second, they're third or fourth. Maybe fifth.

>Why hadn't USA cut off Moscow from SWIFT after annexation of Crimea ?
Because ukraine is useless to us. That's the honest reason.
Also, complete and utter disdain for the rest of the world asking for out economic and military help after years of being told we're an evil empire despite being demonstrably disinterested in conquest. No voter would support risking even the slightest confrontation to "help" anyone deal with anything that isn't our fault.

Imagine if you´re Russia. Your people never really lived a good life but it was okay because your people used to be part of this stronk empire which was locked in permanent global conflict for pretty much a century. But now you´re a literal who. And your people still aren´t doing too good. Neither them nor the people outside believe you´re in charge.

But you still have that permament seat in the security council, you still have impressive numbers on paper, you still have the nukes and the world loves to see you as antagonist. Neither NATO nor China will attack you, so why not use your assets to strategically pretend you´re strong? If you fool foreign governments into believing you are powerful you gain influence, if you fool your own people they´ll have more reason to carry on through their current hardships.

So you develop implessive weapons you can only afford in limited numbers, have destroyers stuck in infinite upgrading programs. You throw in some veto´s in the UN from time to time, just to remind people that yes, you´re still there with your permanent seat. You invade random shitter countries next to you, while being very careful to not actually upset one of the big guys. You come up with incredibly unsubtle propaganda operations, for it doesn´t matter if the propaganda works, people just need to see you engange in propaganda on a global scale. Maybe poison some defectors. And when the US asks if you hacked their elections you half-assedly deny it.

I don´t even know if they could not be a paper tiger. Let´s say Putin publicly admits everything is fucked and wants to normalize relations with the west. It won´t take long until someone else is in office who knows the truth that russia is strong and it will rise again over the degenerate west.

>russia is strong and it will rise again over the degenerate west.

I do not have a reaction image to express my mirth at your stupidity.

>There was a faggot on Jow Forums
There are many faggots on Jow Forums who say this all the time

He was obviously being facetious to make a point you retarded reddit immigrant

Yeah, that's pretty obvious now. I've spent the last two days arguing with unironic commies on /his/. My vatnik senses are fucked.

>I've spent the last two days arguing with unironic commies on /his/
Why would you do that to yourself

I was bored. Plus, it's fun rub their noses in the fact that they're only commies because they're utter failures who can't make good choices in a free society, and only want the "community" that commieshit forced because they're fucking losers who nobody who isn't a sperg will associate with of their own free will.

And yes, that statement doesapply to all commies, and you should take every opportunity to use it to drive them closer to suicide.

It was me, and yes it is, fucking third world mongoloid vatnik.

In offensive means, the Russian Federation may actually be a paper tiger, especially due to the population decline. But if there's nuclear weapons usage than not a paper tiger.

Yes 100%

Damn Switzerland and Belgium are aids infested

Except Russia's defense policy is not oriented towards an offensive or deployment structure like the ZOG.

Russia has always had a defensive structure.

Because our economy was doing great and there was little reason to hamper it trying to keep Russia propped up to even a Brezhnev stagnation-era standard of living, especially not when corruption was even more rampant, every single investment was high risk, and it was mostly the same guys still in charge.

the last 10 years of russia's military history say otherwise.

I'd say it's a mix of these:
1) Nuclear powerhouse with stocks upon stocks of nukes spiralling straight into anarchy and possibly into civil war ain't really great for global security and balance of power
Especially considering that all sort of military shit started disappearing to black market; from small arms to helis and tanks. And you just don't wanna see the same apply for nukes
2) NATO and US never actually had proper invasion plan at hand to conquer Russia in the scenario of USSR dissolution and shit breaking into chaos afterwards
Not even discussing if it's even possible, managable in the long run, or just simply desirable. Just for questioning the matter, Clausewitz would probably tell you to fuck off ya verrückter Idiot, and take a smoke break
Keeping Russia's shit together seemed as plausible alternative
3) Plain and simply acquiring influence
Russia is still a 100+ mil. people country, it ain't gonna just disappear even if all hell break's loose; all shit eventually has to come to an end. And less chaos is more control
Skipping this stage for market opportunities, political influence or even cultural effect again seems like preferable way of things
Just cuz it sorta backfired or just wasn't all that well managed is other thing
4) It's just better to keep nuclear powerhouse with political apparatus that's both experienced and with policies adapted specifically for this exchange of grand politics around
Even if it would be just for US/EU domestic politics alone; both 'the Russia is our great Friend/Enemy' still goes miles and is heard in the post-CW era

What the fuck kind of horse shit are you peddling? Tell the Ukrainians, Georgians, Hungarians, and Afghans what a peace loving bunch the Russians are, and see what kind of response you get, you absolute mongoloid.

Russia has a smaller annual GDP than Italy. They can hardly afford to keep their navy afloat. Their only carrier is essentially out of commission, and the Su-57 project is dead in the water. They need external financing to keep their MIC active. They’re not even a paper tiger, they’re more like a paper rattlesnake. The only people who fear a conventional attack from the Ruskies are 3rd worlders and Estonians. They’ve got nukes and plenty of T-90s, that’s it.

>plenty of T-90s
They've got 500 of those of which 250 are in active service. Can't even afford a budget model of a decent tank from 3 decades ago.

This.

This is pretty true but I'll add that Russia is generally forced into a defensive, defense ideology because of how shit its military is. Russia politically is very offensive.

Russia's military sucks ass and its nukes and missiles are the only reason it has power. That's also why they left the INF treaty.
