Good caliber, recommend handloading if a brand new rifle like a Tikka because the factory ammo are light loads for old rifles.
If you intend it as a durr rifle you may aswell get a .270 or similar as not to rule out Sambar or Reds.

None of the guns I want (Spare Sako A7) are legal in this shithole, so I just go to the US from time to time, open my safe deposit box, grab my gear, and do nothing but fuck shit up and buy more guns for three months till my Visa Waiver expires, then dump my cache back in a deposit box and head back home.
If our gun laws ever change I'll bring them over, but for now they stay nice and safe.

I'm up in QLD and have a conceal firearms license. I don't understand why it's so difficult for most people to join a random pistol club and rock up 6 times a year.
Most clubs are scrambling for young blood members and are VERY accommodating to replace all the old guys either losing interest or having lifestyle issues(Too old). We need more young blood in the pistol shooting sport and furthermore we really need to start pressing self-defense laws and CC for Australians. To hell with the optics of CC, human cattle don't get to have opinions.
I had a conversation with my uncle who was of the opinion that Australians shouldn't have CC, i pressed him on why that was, his answer was it would scare most people to see a gun. Yet the public is comfortable with civilian "cash in transit" guards carrying firearms, the entire logic is backwards and stupid.

(A) what firearms they will allow on range?
some clubs can be real stupid for whatever reason, If you join the wrong club you might not be able to get that 50AE desert eagle you've always dreamed of
(B)Do they do rolling comps?
This is important for shooters who don't want to go to "competition days" a "rolling comp" is you competing against yourself whenever you like.
They ask you to join and you'll be on probation for 6 mouths, in which time you do 4 shoots with club guns, then you can get club approval for sponsored license. Wait how ever much time the mongoloids at weapons licensing take to process the license(Do not contact them or pester them)(If they do however take too long contact you club rep and let them do the talking)
