This is my bud holding my 460VXR. For comparison he's like 6'4 280. It's my first gun I personally owned and wasn't issued.
It's a handful on the top end of loads and even with the comp it'll move on you. Accurate as all hell, sight is spring loaded and can actually pop off. I need a new one.
Plan on making a no comp piece instead of a brake and possibly welding it on, getting a scope rail, extended controls, target grips, and messing with adding some sort of tritium sight to it before sending her off to Robar to get it treated inside and out.
It's going to be my go to hunting gun and what I pass down to my kids. Planning on getting 357 LCR for carrying.
Here's my short security six, I also have a single 6. Love em both, one day I'll pick up a .357 with a bit longer barrel. Hopefully an MR-73. Next revolver is probably a nagant revolver though.
It can be, but you can shoot 45 colt load through it and it's a cap gun it's what I mainly shoot out of it.
You have to be a decent size guy to be able to shoot this without funny looks ironically. I'm big black and fat, and my skinnier friends litteraly will have R/O's stare them down out of fear of the fucker flying out there hands. The most I let people shoot out of it is 454's which ain't bad at all.
I bought this little guy from an old lady's yard sale a couple years ago for $150, along with some ancient ammo. Aside from a bit of rust on the .22 WMR cylinder, it was in good shape, and the ammo was fine. It's not the most powerful revolver, but it's accurate and surprisingly quiet.
Got a smith and wesson m36 made in mid 80s I believe, a 442 pro, and a taurus 85. The trigger for the taurus Is suprisingly better than most modern j frames I've handled but this 442 and classic are obvious exceptions. The 36 is smooth af.
I love revolvers. I want to get a single action, but I have absolutely no idea what to get.
I really like the aesthetics of the SAA, but original Colt has no actual safety. Ruger has the Blackhawk and Vaquero, but I don't like the sights profile of the Blackhawk (prefer the original groove on the frame) and the Vaquero doesn't exist in .44 iirc. Can you redpill me on the Blackhawk? Also, how are the Uberti ones? Additionally, has anyone shot any of their black powder wheels?
My spinny boi speaks frog. Got this for around $450 from a consignment sale online because the previous owner got it for cheap and "couldn't pronounce the name and thought it was junk" compared to his python.
I thought Stainless was 6, Blued was 4, and that weird parkerized not parkerized crap was 5. Do they change the finishing number for different models? I'm going by the 2nd Gen autos and X29 series.
The semi autos have nothing to do with the numbering of revolvers. 586 is blued, 686 is stainless. There’s no parkerized smiths outside of wartime stuff.
Yeah the 59/39 and spin offs really fucked me on the whole Smith Numbering scheme. Well, I'll keep that in mind. Also why is finding a M60 in .357 Mag without a lock harder than finding an albino unicorn?
There are a ton of YouTube vids on what to check on a used wheelgun. You definitely want to make sure the hammer won't drop by accident and that the cylinder locks up right and tight.
Take hold of the gun and with your thumb and index finger grasp the cylinder and turn it side to side, hammer down, if it has a lot of play the timing is shot, you don't want it. Press front and back, if it has a lot of slop, something is seriously fucky and it's got a ton of wear on the cylinder pin, or the yoke you don't want it.
Cock the hammer and finger well clear of the trigger using the thumb of your shooting hand press forward, if it drops under thumb pressure. Someone decided to take a Dremel to the sear, you don't want it.
If it feels reasonably tight (you're not looking for a bank vault,) and the hammer doesn't drop for a whisper, it's good to go.

Get a SAA. You can find Ubertis between $300-400. If you’re worried about safeties just load five and leave the hammer down on the empty chamber

Because there weren’t that many made. Most model 60s were made in .38spl. The .357 version was only introduced in 1996, and not long after the locks came out.
Yeah, I just want a .357 Snub for CC. Doesn't S&W make more offerings along those lines? I know Ruger has a 2.5"-3" Security Six and I was thinking about getting one of those.
guys, call me crazy but i think a revolver was once in this box.

Can I post too guys? This 605 was recently picked up, ran through 100 rounds of rem golden saber saturday without a hiccup and surprisingly not too hard to shoot (did leave a mark on my palm for a minute though) I think I'll purchase some more Taurus revolvers later on, pleasantly surprised with how nice the trigger is fresh out of the box.
