I had a similar idea to the OP of a direction I want to go with my memewave but it's going to be different.
There are currently 0 wood AR grips that I am willing to put the money into for the project, however I may have found something that I am willing to try.
There are a few companies that make adapters that would allow me to put wooden 1911 grips on an SB tactical brace kit.
I can't find any though that color match the wood on my shockwave off the shelf (refinishing is not something that I have time for).
Anyone have any suggestions for some that may work?

Well, you need:
1. A 12g Shockwave, (things'll fit better than on a 20g, as I think they are narrower?)
2. A stock adapter. Search for Mossberg stock adapter, click images, choose the one you like. I think there's 4 or 5. You can get them folding, or non. You can get stock adapters that have an integral black grip, or ones that take any standard AR grip. Sky's the limit.
3. A standard AR buffer tube and castle nut.
4. An AR pistol brace of your choice.
5. Tools.
Keep your overall length above 26", and your length of pull under 13½", and the ATF won't shoot your dog.

Look, I'm proud of what I've been able to do one-handed. Modding the old wood police forend, reshaping the AR pistol grip and inlaying the brass sling stud base, getting the wood to match, and fitting the jeweled bolt was really difficult for me.
I've been here for 5 years now, and I see the same old "custom" AR's and "custom" glocks, where it took all of 5 minutes to unbolt one thing, and bolt on another. Custom. Over and over and over again.
My suggestion to you is watch for my threads about Slampig, and just not wander into them. And when you run across pics of it in other threads, just scroll past.
You don't need more aggregation in your life, and lotsa people are interested in talking about because they're making their own braced Shockwave.
It's kind of a thing, now. Buy one and out-build me.

You can find some for decent prices on Gunbroker. I bought mine for $500 and I don't regret it one bit. I talked a lot with the old guy I bought it from, and he was really interesting. It's circa 1915, and he bought it when he was 20 and has had it for 50 years. Then I bought it from him, when I was 20. He really like that I appreciated and wanted to hear his history with it.
It still has a leather butt pad that he put on it the day after he bought it, and the only real damage is some blood pitting at the end of the barrel where he said he used it to smash in the skulls of rabbits and pheasants that were still kicking after being shot.
