No idea but im guessing theyre not too good if they cant even be trusted not to mix up blanks and live rounds

I don't think about them at all.

???. Explain

With the drawdown overseas, they may well see more action doing drug interdiction than a lot of DoD spec ops.

With my brain I guess.

Those are simmunition rifles, not blanks.

Yeah.

They are actually pretty legit given that they do a lot of LEO work and police raids.

And hell Coasties have made it in the Seals before too.

and their DOG program that got retconned

They look like dollars store ODSTs. I'm sure they're competent though. At a bare minimum, regular action with cholo drug runners

>TFW no one cares about DEA FAST although they operate worldwide from Guatemala to Afghanistan to Indonesia..

why do people keep making a big deal out of this?

doesn't the coast guard constantly win marksmanship competitions?

>why do people keep making a big deal out of this?
anything "Guard" related equates to weekend warrior for them

They are probably equal in skill, but have a narrow mission so get less diverse action in different theatres.

What's everyone's thoughts on joining the Coast Guard? Was originally considering Air Force but CG seems pretty appealing too. I'm interested in Gunner's Mate or Intelligence Specialist. Anyone know how hard it is to get into the CG and score either of those jobs?

Talked to a CG recruiter a few years back. Great job, but for most people it's a career. Supposedly very few people do 4/8 and done there, most are 20 and out or lifers.

The process is as follows:
>3Mo Boot
>1-2Mo getting assigned either to a cutter or air station
>18mos working on cutter/air station without an actual MOS, just floating and figuring out what you like
>Apply for A-School at 18mos with good evals, at 24mos if average
>A-School waitlists are from 6mos to 2 years
>Do A-School
>Actually do job you wanted to do from the jump

I guess the advantage is if you're really unsure, you get to familiarize with a bunch of choices, but the disadvantage is if you want to do, say, Law Enforcement only, you have to spend 2 years doing random shit, then wait 18+ mos for the A-School spot, then actually do it. So, you have to re-up before you even get to do the job you signed up to do.

I really wanted to do TACLET, because drug interdiction is like my favorite thing to do, but waiting 4-5 years just to get the LEO qualification, then another 1-2 years to put in for TACLET is a little over the top for me.

I do love my job though, big city LEO work is fun and rewarding. Might consider reserves or something down the line...

Didn't they "stop" doing FAST, and change the name to something super discreet? DEA is, legit, hardcore operator tier. Very underrated.

CG is harder to get into than AF because of the sheer fact that they have less numbers and the people that do get in stay in at a higher rate because it's 85% a pussy ass cake job. Hence all the respect people show it. Good job though.

Sorry those black holes bother me.

This is a question for /sp/

Well, I'm just saying...
