First for daddy's money

(You)s are coming in early this year I see

Attached: IMG_20180410_164406.jpg (2486x5344, 1.91M)

I got 300 bucks to spend on a mil-surp. Found a type 38 arisaka with a matching bolt for $250... i have a press so ammo is kinda whatever

should i get something else or are 6.5 arisakas cool

what's the condition?

Very little bluing but it seems to be in tact and in fairly good shape.

I'd prolly jump on that desu milsurp isn't going to get cheaper.

>tfw I could finally buy guns when nuggets hit $300 going rate
>tfw no nugget
At least I have my mausers. I need more surp but a modern handgun and school comes first. I just wish that I didn't have to go back to my LGS to have them send their FFL again because the dealer I'm buying from didn't get it the first time apparently. Why is my first handgun purchase such a hassle?

Attached: 1549833468840.png (435x512, 99K)

My Type 38 is probably in my top 5 surplus rifles to shoot.

Attached: 20180311_092503.jpg (4032x924, 2.62M)

Bought this mk2 at a gunshow last weekend for $300, despite the pitting it has, the rifling is in good shape, might get it recrowned tho.

Attached: 2019-05-15 15.46.57.jpg (1057x3213, 917K)

That's a good deal.
>Recrowned
Check the crown first, it might look shit. But it could be fine. My Mosin has a horrific looking one, but it's actually fine.

6.5x50SR has almost no recoil and minimal report. Very nice to shoot.

Attached: T38_range_09-11-2017_D_1600.jpg (1600x1200, 1.36M)

Go for the Arisaka. 6.5 Jap is incredibly fun and easy to shoot. Even out of my carbine it's easier on your shoulder than even an SKS.

Attached: 20180808_224434.jpg (4032x3024, 3.22M)

It does look kinda crappy, but you cant judge a book by its cover. Just gotta take out for a spin and see how it shoots.

Holy shit I actually won

Congrats buddy. Welcome to the winners club.

Anyone here ever order from Sarco, Inc? I need a tall Swedish mauser front sight and they have it $10 cheaper than Liberty Tree.

lose weight and get properly fitting clothes you dork

Thanks but I've never used the gunbroker checkout shit before so that's the biggest obstacle here

>The next step is to pay.
Good price. Market for US Krags seems to be in a slump this year.

My experiences with SARCO have been mostly good.

Why do some nuggets have brass caps?

We just don't know.

Copper rivets > brass caps anyway.

How much would 10 original izzy stripper clips be worth

>Izzy

Pls stop

Does anyone know how to remove storage grease from your surp? Someone said oven degreaser but I’m not sure about that.

I can’t spell the fucking name you worthless nitpicking autist tell me what ww2 era stripperclips manufactured in the arsenal that starts with an “I” are worth

Probably close to a dollar a piece. I bought some in a group of 5 for $3 at a LGS

She'll be complete soon lads. Pretty sad I won't get to shoot her much, this gun feels good.
I've always used boiling water followed by compressed air/ blow drier for the metal and the black bag trick or a hair dryer for the wood

Since it's summer now, you could try leaving it inside the car wrapped up in something absorbent.

Anyone collect helmets? I have a size M ACH, but need a L. Looking to trade shells.

If you are referring to cosmoline an junk in the action and receiver just take it apart and clean normally if it isn't that bad. Thats what I did on a K31.

If its in the stock like this guy said you can put it in a safe and hot space and the oil seeps out. Pic related I used a hair dryer on, and left it in my hot garage by a window to get the oil out of it.

Attached: 1909p2.jpg (4160x657, 998K)

Dunk/soak metal in mineral spirts, dissolves the cosmoline pretty gud. Heat will wick it out of wooden components like stocks. Patience and elbow grease will do the rest. At least that what i did with my nugget

Got one of the new TTCs from Aimsurplus in. Looks like it's in really good condition for surplus from the 50s. No holster wear at all, barrel looks like it was barely shot, the finish is blued instead of parkerized, and the finish itself looks to be in good condition. Thing's pretty greasy, so I'll be giving it a mineral spirits bath this weekend. I'm very pleased with it, especially considering that I paid $219 base for it. Some people on Gunboards are reporting that theirs are fully or partially parkerized, so be prepared.

If you don't have a true TT-33 (not one of those Yugo M57s, the real deal), this is a good time to get one since this current wave of them from AIMsuplus and Sweaty Ben is probably one of the last batches surplus shops will be getting. Get one now before you have to pay $300+ from some pawn shop at Gunbroker.

How much did the rod cost ya

$29.50 shipped.

nambuworld.com/parts.htm
Dude has quite a few repro parts, seems popular on gunboards

Not bad

I though he was talking about wood stocks.
Sorry I'm not really good at reading so much.

Winning always feels good.

that would go well with my 96/11, gratz

The (You) season keeps getting earlier and earlier. I guess it's global warming.

Attached: AST - No. 1 Mk III.jpg (3831x963, 2.06M)

Damn. That's a good price.

I'm thinking about selling pic related soon...

Attached: SWI - G11.jpg (3089x448, 944K)

(You)s don't grow down here as well as they used to.

I'm starting to get more interested in semi-auto surp.
What sort of weapons should I look into?
I've already got an SKS.

Oh shit just realized school just got out for a lot of states that's probably the reason. All these noguns teens posting now that they aren't being indoctrinated by the public school system.

It's fascinating how guns that were so bad they couldn't be accepted by the government during a war are more valuable than those produced by quality contractors.

The strangeness of collecting.

>Sarco
Ordered no. I live less than a half hour away from their showroom. My dealings with them have varied from meh to excellent (really depends on who you end up with). Give them a go if they have what you need and are the cheapest option.

It used to be better but if you are ever in the Lehigh Valley area of PA, I would suggest a stop by to peruse their wears.

Autobid system that will automatically bid one bid increment higher than you till it reaches the their maximum.

For example, Joe blow wants to.pay at most $100. user wants the same thing but only is willing to pay $95 and the bid increment is $1. When user puts his bid in, it will say Joe blow bid $96. But if user rethinks things and says, no I am willing to pay $105, then when user puts in his second bid, it will show $101.

Short story, online auctions like eBay and Gunbroker are not like live auctions where what you bid is what you will pay. These auctions are you pay what the next closest person wants to pay + one bid increment.

No you don't understand.
I mean he bid exactly one cent over me, I was winning, but his bid was over one cent.
So I entered a random number, was winning, and but the same guy entered that same random number.

Attached: 1212121.png (364x208, 3K)

Don't worry, Mausers are vastly superior

Is the stock a deciding factor for you ? I'd rather have a nice stock than a beat to shit one obviously but is it a detrimental factor for accuracy and reliability of the rifle ? A lightly damaged stock shouldn't have much influence over the shots, right ?

This doesn't make any sense. Speak clearly.

>You could be dealing with a human who doesn't understand the autobid system and is manually biding the next highest increment above you after you bid.
Or
>You don't understand the autobid system and are misinterpreting what happens when someone has out bid you to start.

My guess is that it is the latter. What has happened is that you have run into someone who has beat your bid to start. Let's say the it item in question is showing a price of $350 with a bid increment of $1. Say that he bid $1000 on the item but it will only show 350 since that is the reserve or starting price (I hate Gunbroker's reserve pricing system).
Now you come along and want said item. You want to get it for $500. So you bid $500, but since he already bid 1000, the system says he out bid you at $501. You randomly enter 576.25 and all of a sudden it shows he bid 577.25. What has happened is that you have yet to surpass his bid. If you bid over his original bid of 1000, then you will see a bid of yours at $1001 and that is the price you will be held to should you win the auction.

I see two options for you here:
Bid what you would like to pay for the item. Then once out bid, bid what you would pay at most for the item.
Or
Just bid what you would be willing to pay at most for the item the first time.

I lean for the second option when I try to buy from auction sites.

I owned three nuggets wheb they were cheap. One would rip the rim off the case, and the other was so frustrating I literally threw it in a river one day and sold the third.
Get an SMLE or mauser

I found three swedish sight hoods on ebay for $5/per. I got one and it fit with no issues

Also try to wait for the last day of the bid, sometimes people bid and forget about it. If you bid woth two weeks left, theres more time for people to upbid.
Tho GB has the “15 minute” rule, to prevent sniping, so.... maybe?

>buying an ancient rifle with an obsolete action for more than a modern semiauto or durr rifle
I shiggy diggy

Personally I don't wait, Gunbroker sends out tons of emails to remind you that you have won an auction or an auction is coming to a close so I am not afraid of forgetting.
If someone outbids me, they out bid me. I bid what I am willing to pay and that would be it. While it does leave more time to be outbid, I have found that most of the time I am outbid, it is the last day of the auction anyway.

I bought my first nugget for 550 dollars. It came with 1,000 rounds of ammo, a scope / bubba mount, and a sling.

How did I do?

Well that's almost a good deal on the ammo alone. What nugget and what nugget food?

I don't know if I should buy a Siamese Mauser or an 04/39 Vergueiro. Both are in fantastic condition but I just bought 2 other surp gats this month and can only afford one.

Attached: IMG_20190104_151305_01.jpg (3770x1466, 2.14M)

Not the guy you’re replying to but do you have to completely strip the rifle before you put it in mineral spirits or can you just do a field strip and dunk the whole thing (stock included) in a tub of it?

DO NOT PUT YOUR STOCK IN MINERAL SPIRITS!

The deal I got with mine was 38 Tula 91/30 with accessories a spam can of 54r and the 5 clips, because it's all he had, for $300.

>soimeone near me is selling a bubbad svt-40 for $1200
>at minimum I'd have to get a new stock and fix some scope mount holes in the dust cover

I was planning on trying to get this guy down to 600-800 otherwise it's not worth the fucking hassle. any thoughts?

here's the gun for reference:
armslist.com/posts/9945842/washington-antiques-for-sale--svt-40

I already reload for 2 esoteric calibres (6.5x53.5r Daudeteau and 8x60r), what's a third?

That poor rifle. Yeah, $800 tops

whats the going price for an sks in decent shape, ideally a Russian.

Also ever see a M44 1952 production without a numbered bolt ? Doesn't seem like bubba filed it off - i've read that this happens sometimes as a repair or something.

Any ideas?

You're gonna have to pony up the cash if you want something rare.

Attached: POL - Wz 29.jpg (2560x1440, 1.05M)

Non-Russian would be $400ish. Russian is $500+ generally.

Attached: SOV - SKS.jpg (3361x1002, 1.63M)

Verguiero. Those are in a easily found caliber. You don't have a lathe to make 8x52r brass.

Attached: 20180427_111012.jpg (3880x838, 1.36M)

There's a few rarities that are cheap that fly under the radar because they were used by South/Central American countries.

Norwegian Krags are not on that list.

Hey /msg/, I don't have any milsurp at all yet, as I'm typically very utilitarian about my gun purchases. But at my local cabella's, there an arisaka in remarkably good shape, looks to be early war chambered in 6.5 for $450. Is that something I really should to jump on, or should I save up and get an M1 garand which I've kinda wanted since ive gotten into guns. Anyone have any experiences with arisakas?

Additionally how impossible/expensive is it to get 6.5x50?

6.5 Jap is around $2 a round. It's really fun to shoot, but I personally wouldn't recommend going for an Arisaka unless you're willing to reload for it.

>Additionally how impossible/expensive is it to get 6.5x50?
It's hard to find and expensive ($45+ a box) when you do, so handloading is basically required. It's a wonderful cartridge but if you're utilitarian surp probably isn't for you.

Attached: 20190324_094854.jpg (3406x949, 2.57M)

I got my 6.5 from "mrnambu" $1.25/rd, along with the repro sling. I've been trying to contact him for more but no response.

Attached: T38_range_09-11-2017_B.jpg (1280x960, 1.13M)

Save up an extra $325 and get a Garand

like this ?

gunbroker.com/item/813271857

Where do you recommend is the best place to try to get a garand? I really don't want to go through CMP's bullshit to get one

Thanks anons. It will continue to tempt me.

Well then you're SOL, faggot
It's retardedly easy and you get it shipped straight to your door so don't be a fucking dweeb and do it
