Again, I posted this in 2 threads ago, but, I'm still kind of trying to pull a Cooper scout rifle concept (it's actually closer to a "single center fire rifle that can do everything okay" concept), and that much weight is going to make it heavy and only really good as a bench queen.
Considering that there aren't that many ways to get around the weight issue, I've just considered a Mini-G or a un ultra-light AR-10 as kind of the only options to fit that role.

Semi-auto that also fulfills coopers concept? The only semi-autos I've seen that can do it are chopped down M1 garands feeding from en-bloc clips (the Mini-G), and ultra-specialized AR-10s.
Sure, you can get a bolt-action light weight, but, that's not BRG - that's PRG. I'm looking for a semi-auto .308 that can do it. The newest of the BARs (The DBM) is well within the weight class, as is the FN Police Precision rifle, but, they're noted for being extremely finicky for cleaning/field-stripping.
Not exactly the guns I'd bring into the field that much.

Yeah, I said this on the other thread: heavy, and lots of proprietary parts for the 16" one. the M1A gas system only really works with the 18" or above rifles (and those are heavy even with fiberglass/synthetic stocks).
The best I found from the M1/M1A/M14 style of rifles is if you keep it en-bloc clip fed - keeps the weight down tremendously while remaining a semi-auto.
The only other kind of lightweight option is to buy one of those Sage EBR chassis to drop your M1/M14/M1A into, but, I don't have a lot reviews on that.

What are you basing this on? All mid-50s battle rifles are 3-4MOA, recoil isn’t pleasant (especially in full auto) in any of them, but all are perfectly reliable. “The M14 sucks” is just fuddlore.
