I want a boltgun that's cheap to plink with, really only looking to shoot out to 300 but I'd like to hit 1 moa at $1000 for rifle and optic

Ruger Precision Rimfire.

CZ 455/7 Varmint/Tactical

Spend everything else on Glass, a good bipod, and a truckload of CCI Standard (when you shoot all this, experiment with better ammo).

Yes. You can shoot 22 at 300 yards, and if you can do it, you'll learn things that will apply to centerfire.

I find it much more challenging than shooting my Tikka Tac A1 at 1000.

Find a Savage 110 Tactical in 6.5 CM with a Strike Eagle 4-24X scope (both sometimes on sale) and you can go far beyond 300 yards wih that combo.

search faggot

just got this Ruger American Ranch 223. I highly recommend it

No pics, but I got a Browning X-Bolt in 6.5 Mememoor with a Vortex Viper 4-16x44 up top. Shoots pretty good, got a different trigger spring so it has a 2.5 lb pull now.

>posts stock picture
i hate you fags

FUCK

i dont. i have a ranch in 300 black out and i find it to be incredibly rough around the edges. its cheap even by cheap bolt gun standards. the bolt wobbles way more than it should in the receiver. my bolt had a sharp flake of metal left over from the machining process, i had to dig it out with a pic. the bolt has tons of circumferential ridges that you can see and feel. the stock is standard crappy plastic fare.
the one bright spot with the ranch is the trigger, surprisingly good trigger.
anyone, to anyone looking at a ranch, get it on sale or dont get it at all.

What is 300 win mag for? Why would I want it over 7mm rem mag?

I put a set of low Burris rings on since this picture. Probably my favorite gun to shoot.

masochism

just get a .270 phamalam

What's different about sako and tikka? The cheapest sako is like 1600 bucks while tikkas range from 500 to 1800. Just fit and finish?

more or less, yeah
regrettably linking a rebbit thread, but it's helpful: reddit.com/r/guns/comments/67le66/tikka_t3x_versus_sako_85_what_difference_does/

i know the people can be incorrigible but whats wrong with ribbit links

It carries, more power downrange, at the cost of more recoil. And some states require .30cal for hunting. Neither one have enough power to be ideal elk guns though, for tracking them through the woods.

In your opinion what is ideal for hunting elk?

.300 wm is plenty of power for elk at reasonable ranges. i think user is saying shooting through trees, brush, etc.

>What is 300 win mag for?
Moose...limbs

I've hunted elk for 40 years and used a 308/270W on all my kills but the 300 will do the job at longer ranges and there are plenty of bullets for extreme range

>Why would I want it over 7mm rem mag?
Manhood

Mine has none of your problems, you were sold a second

nice finish!

>t. newfag

Great spice rack!

you wish

Yeah, when you have a mag fed bolt gun you can put that scope as low as you can but otherwise it's very difficult to top load the rifle with a one piece base

Attached: HwG5DkB[2].jpg (640x480, 29K)

Nah, just get a good one-piece rail and not some chinesium shit. Near Mfg makes extremely high quality one-piece bases for Weatherbys, Sakos, Tikkas, and Steyrs.

What caliber is the highest muzzle energy while still being subsonic? Basically just looking for something enormously heavy while still being stable

my fagpulled LTR

Probably a custom handloaded 45 70 goverment lever gun. Maybe a 338 win mag downloaded to shit.

9x39 commercial loads
Otherwise you can hand load 45-70 or other big bore riffle rounds

Bumperacci

I’ve got it in 7.62x39 and had the same issues

Check out my boring hunting rifle

should I get a leupold 1-5x24 or a 2-10x42? i feel like the 1-5 would be a lot better since I live in the northeast and most of my hunting would be in the woods, and the 5x would be enough for any longer range shots I had to take.

I like nice, simple guns. She shoots nicely, a bit of a jumper with the hot .308 in it, but pleasant nonetheless.

Attached: 981498984794.jpg (1804x1010, 341K)

Going on a Model 70 Super Grade in 7mm-08 btw
was checking out an x-bolt at my LGS the other day, they seem really nice and i like the shape of the stock

1x lower mag isn’t gonna matter. The larger 42mm objective will pull more light and give you a better picture. Go for the 2-10

The stock is really comfortable. Also at first I was disappointed by the plastic magazine but it feels super solid and I think it's a good way to keep the rifle just a bit lighter

Just a bullshit Savage Axis II XP. Heavy Barrel 6.5 Creed. Getting my feet wet with bolts, AR and AK guy mostly. love distance shooting now!

Slapped a Boyds Varmint stock on there, opened the throat to free float the heavy contour better, stainless steel pillar bedded and glass bedded the stock. Painted the rifle tan and threw a camo sponge paint job. scope still suuuuuuucks but it's shooting very solid.

Itching to build a custom Defiance / Impact or Curtis Action now because I know I'll love it.

>7mm RM & .300WM too small for elk
Absolute retard lol

Based plinker. I unfucked the trigger, bedded it with Devcon, stripped the shitty finish off the stock and oiled it to hell and back over the years. Shoots very well.

Attached: P2050117.jpg (1280x960, 502K)

ive hunted elk for 60 years and nothing puts them down like a thirty ought six. get yourself a nice 1903 springfield and it will never let you down. take it to the smith and get a nice burris scope mounted and have him do a trim on the forestock for balance and you will be in business bagging elks so heavy your 4 wheeler will stall

Schmitt/Rubin K31.

I’d really like a TRG 42, but the damn things are never in stock and it can get understandably pricey. Guess I’ll have to stick with my justasgood Savage Axis at the moment.

Learn to shoot with irons

Yo what budget but still decent hunting rifle should I get?
My first Elk hunt is coming up.
I've got a scope and I've decided on .300 Win Mag.

Any recommendations from hunters?

My first plinkboi as an eurofag, it might be nigger rigged but I absolutely love it. Accurate and quiet as hell. Got it for free too

You ever see a Manners carbon dummy

At least they look like they put some effort into looking like shit

What's a fair price? I see that the ammo ain't cheap

nah hold that ak imma use my hunting rifle

i bought mine new from a gunshop. im glad youre happy with yours.
i wanted a cheap boltgun suppressor host in 300 blk and i got what i paid for. i guess i cant complain too much

Post yours, I wanna see what your taste is

Tape up the airsoft orange tip though

A wild tikka lite appears. What scope size do you have on there?

I have one in 308 that will be needing glass soon.

10 GA slugs

Is that an IKEA kitchen? nice rifle BTW

I love the paint!

My $440 Savage shoots like a $1000 rifle

Attached: khLfTB5[2].jpg (640x480, 71K)

sweet, I wish I had one like that

Tompson Center Compass

euro-boy!

Don't they make this style of stock for Savage 110s?

sweet

>Axis II XP
>6.5 Creedmeme
Mein neger. Birthday gift to myself a few weeks ago. Only one range I go to even has rifle stalls, and all they have is 100 yards, so I haven't had a chance to take it out yet.

Attached: IMG_20190621_225949626.png (1244x933, 1.44M)

I have Burris Signature Zee rings, low ones, on my ugly old 700 as well and I think they're great rings; especially for what they cost. Helped me to align the scope right once I got the offset inserts right.

>Model 70 Super Grade in 7mm-08
Should be beautiful, that would probably be my first choice for a short action chambering.

Attached: 1503271378387.jpg (2567x1711, 304K)

With good 'ol Murican irons and a bong sling off my old beat to shit BSA War Office trainer.

It's a great rifle for those kinds of sights, such a long sight radius with that 24" barrel and the rear-sight over the receiver.

Attached: 20180506_151629.jpg (2048x1152, 1.18M)

super sweet

Dats the Gud sheeet Mon!

So this is my project rifle, I have only cleaned it, excellent bore; 40 years old, 100 rounds through it. factory adjustable trigger. It might need free float and bedding. Just bought brass and booolets

hot hot hot

Attached: YAIgf1n[1].jpg (640x355, 30K)

Model 70s are aesthetic as fuck, pure and distilled Americana.

Nice! They really shoot well for the money.

this is exactly what I wanna do to my 700

I have rifles with $5 rings and with $90 rings and I can't tell the difference under 500 yards. Maybe if I was a scientist I could tell..but for real life poo, 1/2" is not gonna make a difference. Ground Squirrels with a cross section like a walnut, yes. Milk jugs...no

Bingo!

we all own sniper rifles now

I like my RA-Ranch but my custom howa does a lot better at 1500yrds

Attached: FB_IMG_1539781414982.jpg (960x540, 86K)

Picked up a pick related used for $300 in 308. Should be a fun little project. Got some 20 rounders for it. Had to order replacement irons for it as the previous owner removed them for whatever fucking reason.

Dude had a 4-14x cheapo on it. Said he was "getting out of long range shooting." I didn't laugh in his face because I was getting a good deal but like, okay there guy.

Will likely throw a holosun on it. Anyone else /scoutrifle/ here?

Attached: 27716-media.jpg (3900x1020, 1.08M)

Are you loading your bipod? Helps with the jump.

Why isn't the Vudoo V-22 available in euroland yet, you fucking wanks!?!

Attached: 1386083276259.jpg (403x498, 104K)

Savage 12FV or Hog Hunter in Rem 223. You don't need glass for 300m. Learn to use irons, they're fun and will make you a more capable shooter.

Looks like a good thread to ask.

Saved this McMillan stock from a dumpster. Don't know anything about them and don't know what I have. Any way for me to identify the model or what type of action it's meant to take? It has a small crack in the pistol grip, is this something to be worried about?

Attached: 20190621_164702.jpg (3264x747, 1.72M)

based boy. would have gone scout rifle as well, but the allure of big heavy bullets out of a levergun was too great.

(and I personally don't want to own too many guns)

Underside

Attached: 20190621_164730.jpg (3264x752, 1.31M)

Crack in question. This something that can easily be repaired? I meant it when I said I know jack about these kinds of stocks.

Attached: 20190621_164928.jpg (2218x1776, 1.81M)

These markings ok? Didn't know if this was a sign that the stock had been used or not.

Attached: 20190621_164832.jpg (1699x1836, 1.42M)

I don’t really know much about the scope, I traded a used kayak to an older retiree for his rifle he put together in ‘04. Its quite good though and is fairly powerful!

The action on this rifle is also as smooth as butter.
