After heating, the most important thing is flexibilty. Cold enviorments put great strain on logistics and therefore any piece of equipment needs to be able to fulfill multiple roles. For example, the norwegians last year started an interesting experiment where they used a frigate for submerged operations.

frigate? submerged?

>used a frigate for submerged operations.
I need more information on this, stat

just make sure you top off the anti-freeze

The Frogs managed it with a gun cruiser last century so why not

There's a huge military presence in Alaska originally from it's proximity to Japan during the second world war, and continuing because of the cold war.

I live in Faribanks where it can hit 50 below zero. All vehicles, military or otherwise, tend to have plug in electric heaters for their engine block, oil pan, and a battery blanket.

You also need to make sure all your fluids are rated to extreme low temps. Like -60F antifreeze and sometimes lighter weight lubricating oils.

how about even colder temps?

Ask the Nazis in Antarctica.

And Russians with the dry dock.

nazis in antarctica?

The US Navy lost a conflict while attempting to seize Nazis military complexes in Antarctica.

Yes.
