How run down is the Belgian military?
Is it worth joining?
How is the public sentiment towards it?
How long do you have to enlist as NCO or officer?
How hard is getting through the selection process?
Kraut here who lives just a few kilometers from the belgian border and considers joining it (the belgian military accepts EU citizens) instead of the ruin called Bundeswehr.

Wait - Belgium has a military?

The ones I worked with maintained their F-16s cool guys.

I don't know the ins and outs of it completely as a burger however from across the pond Belgium seems like a better army than the Bundeswehr. Primarily in equipment and benefits, again outside looking in. I will say though that jigsaw is superior to flecktarn and that's coming from an owner of both

reminder that Belgium doesn't even exist.

I had Burger King with a Belgian infantryman in Bavaria. He was a cool dude. Showed me all the chick soldiers from the states he fucked and showed me some awesome spot to go when I went to Munich. Best summer deployment I ever had.

>ruin called Bundeswehr
Wants to join the literal worst armed forces in NATO. kek.

>How run down is the Belgian military?

Almost as bad as the German army.
They spend big money on politically driven prestige projects (like buying F35s), but fail to maintain the core infrastructure. You'll often see soldiers running around with gear with desert camo, because they got it for Afghanistan, but never got the same gear to use in Belgium with jigsaw. So they mix & match.
The army's average age is also pretty old. They need new blood, or soon all the boomers will be retiring and half the army will be gone. On the other hand, that means that if you join up, there's more career possibilities since the older guys are fucking off.
Recruitment remains an issue, especially for "specialized" troops with high mental & physical requirements, like paracommandos.

>Is it worth joining?

No one can tell you that. That's a highly personal question and depends on your motivation to join. And on what you're expecting to find there.

>How is the public sentiment towards it?

The common folk don't really have an opinion about the armed forces. They're "liked" well enough, but in general they won't be thinking about you at all.

>How long do you have to enlist as NCO or officer?

No clue, check mil.be.

>How hard is getting through the selection process?

Not hard if you prepare a bit and don't have any pre-existing health issues. Obviously don't use any drugs, because you'll need to do a drug test. If you smoke weed, be sure to stop a LONG time before going through selection.

>How run down is the Belgian military?

The main problems are the lack of budget and recruitment issues, some would say that the high command is full of anti-Walloon Flemish officers.

>Is it worth joining?

It depends on what you want to do in the army, if you know the system, there are plenty of opportunities (e.g : working in shift, earn some degrees, ...).

>How is the public sentiment towards it ?

Some North African minorities don't like us.

Former far-left friends from the university cut off contact with me.

>How long do you have to enlist as NCO or officer?

What do you mean ? The age limit ?

>How hard is getting through the selection process?

Be a good runner, be self-confident, don't lie to the psy, know the job which you are applying and why you want it.

Shit, I've been in this room before.

Are you ready to die defending the Westvleteren brewery- er... I mean... monastery, if required? And Circuit Spa-Francorchamps as a secondary concern?

Are we going to be invaded ?

I don't know, I'm just trying to ensure the best bits of Belgium are adequately protected else I'll come help and you guys can pay me in Westvleteren XII and their gouda

>Westvleteren XII

Just switch to St Bernardus 12, it's basically the same thing and I've only met few people who could consistently tell the difference in a blind tasting.

>it's basically the same thing and I've only met few people who could consistently tell the difference in a blind tasting.

Well I guess I'm one of the few then, but I do adore St Bernie - especially as it's actually obtainable down here in Australia whereas Westy XII I have to bring in with my duty free allowance. Still not as nice as drinking it in the beer garden at In Der Vrede among the hop fields though lol.

You can taste plenty of Belgian beers at the Belgian Beer Cafe Heritage in Sidney.

Their range is pretty good - same with the Brissy and Adelaide ones - but a) Australia is bigger than Sydney, and b) by fuck they're expensive. I have an importer that keeps me supplied with Abt.12, Straffe Hendrik and a few others I like to keep handy, but otherwise I just wait patiently for my annual trip to Europe and then go a bit silly in your supermarkets.

belgian fag here

>How run down is the Belgian military?
What rules us now is a soft-headed, mushy, egalitarian, feminine sort of altruism where we are more inclined to feed the starving picannnies of Africa than to take acount of the fact that every picaninny who doesn't starve to death now will grow up to breed more picaninnies.

>Is it worth joining?

It's your choice but you will be as disappointed as I was few years ago, at least you guys trained with most of the special forces around the western world.

I've heard from a flemish guy from the military that they received an order which consisted in: 1) Expel the walloons from the army 2) protect Jewish buildings/institutions/whatever at all cost

Anyone has heard anything about that?

Well, aren't you a little gullible idiot...

never said I believed it moron, the expel the walloons part I've heard more than once though

No fucking clue, you won't find many Belgians here I reckon.

>1) Expel the walloons from the army
Kek, from what I know they don't like sandniggers and some big socialist bastion in wallonia like Mons are infested.

>2) protect Jewish buildings/institutions/whatever at all cost
I can't tell about that but belgium's kike are irrelevant apart from the diamond industry taxes, sure they are targeted both by vlaams belang and shitskins but who cares.

Maybe Jow Forums might have an answer? Jow Forums is mostly US oriented and most of our knowledge on foreign powers is how shit they are. Granted Jow Forums is the furthest thing from what I'd call a reliable wellspring of knowledge

Lol hipster faggot

There's a reason many leave to become mercenaries around the world.

>I rather meant the minimum enlistment time if you join as NCO or officer.

5 years after their graduation, for the officers IIRC.

For the NCO, that's another story

How exactly does the NCO track work in Belgium?

Hipster like fuck, you commo faggot. If you're from out of Belgium and can't enjoy their best industry, you're a narrow-minded cunt. If you're Belgian and you can't embrace your best export, you're a sad cunt.

There's actually a lot of belgians on here in relation to our small population but i don't think theres a lot of people actually interested in joining the military but im just making assumptions

>How exactly does the NCO track work in Belgium?

Enlisted to NCO is not the common track.

You have 3 tracks you can get into immediately: enlisted, NCO & officer. All have their own schools (though the basic concepts overlaps for all three). But in Belgium, you can have an NCO fresh out of boot, with zero experience.

Either you spend a year to the Saffraanberg Royal school and then you go to your allocated unit for your specialized training (on an internship) and you will be appointed three years after your enlistment or either you're already a soldier (volunteer) and you follow the social advancement courses during 6 months in Saff' in order to be promoted as a sergeant.

With the exception of the mechanics, specialists and other non-combat positions, the NCOs (medics, infantry, paracommando, recce, ...) are recruited on the basis of a 5 years fixed-term contract.

Out of curiosity, how many non belgian citizens are actually in the Belgian military, especially EU foreigners that don't have spent a significant amount of their life in Belgium?
It's appears to me that the idea of the introduction of allowing EU citizens to join was mostly about allowing all the foreigners without citizenship which Brussels and Belgium in general as de facto center of western europe attract (and perhaps people from border regions), enlarging the pool of potential applicants for regular career service after the abolishment of conscription in the early 90s (which here in germany after the shortening of conscription service and massive spending cuts became it's inoffical main and not just as previous side purpose till it's final abolishment 2011).

Does the linguist split actually shows itself in the military beyond one half speaking dutch and the other french?

Join German military m8. It's budget will soon be increased and due to increasingly integrated security network within the EU, Françafrique may be expanded to be a general EU policy to protect investment in Africa as seen with French EU led mission to Mali (in which Germany was second highest EU contributor). In Germany you'll get better pay, better equipment, and probably more experience than in the Belgian army.

Could some Belgians elaborate on the linguage divide and how it affects the Belgian military?

Military bases located in the southern part of the country speak French, the ones in the north ; Flemish.

Some units are bilingual and speaking english is the priority.

Officers, RSM, CSM must speak both languages.

Attached: Hilton bloc, Leopoldsburg.jpg (600x800, 61K)

I can live with all that but dude, Flecktarn is absolutely unbeatable in central and eastern europe.
And Jigsaw is oretty useless everywhere, it looks like a fucking clownsuit.

Are there any hostilities or prejudices between Dutch and French speaking personnel?

Attached: belgian leopard.jpg (1280x853, 305K)

Why in 2 languages?

Lierally chink tier. No wonder they ate the niggers in their colony

It's a country with three official languages.

The Belgian Air Force used the Flecktarn during the 1980s and early 1990s, it was called Smarties and not very popular.

Much depends on the unit (a small bilingual , aggressive paratroopers, a military school with "harder" or "cooler" training depending on the spoken language, a big infantry unit full of jarheads, ... ) ... in addition to the typical rivalry between each units.
