The Iraqi Army Couldn't into MANPADS?

The Mujaheddin with Stingers could take down Russian helicopters. Did the Iraqi Army even field MANPADS or know how to use them?

Different helicopter doctrine

>This
Alright, threads over, everyone pack up.

The US always uses attack helicopters in support of a ground element. There was only one time in 2003 where they didn't...and the helos got btfo.

>Did the Iraqi Army even field MANPADS or know how to use them?
Yeah, an AC-130 was shot down by a Strela

Can't, got stick duck in chai boys

How the fuck, doesn't AC-130 fly super high and have warning systems for shit like that?

No: It is a direct line of sight fire support platform

The iraqis for the most part didnt really have any will to fight in 2003. They just buried the 10 fighter jets they had left in the sand and ran for it.

Why would you bury planes? Did they expect the Americans to take the airfields and then start using their own airframes against them?

More likely a concern the pilots would take them and defect. If you bury them and the Americans withdrew like in Gulf War 1, then you can at least be sure you still have all your planes.

>Did the Iraqi Army even field MANPADS or know how to use them?

many shits got shot down by manpads user wtf are you talking about

Literally when, give the sources retard

This thread is about MANPADS, list the ones actually destroyed by missiles and not accidents or other shit.

have a little bit of decency and read user

not sure how you were allowed to graduate with your eyesight being 2/10

Where's that cockpit video of that Apache getting shot down by rifle fire in A-stan ? It's been memory holed.

It looks like the safest place for them. If Iraq tried to actually use them, they would've been blown out of the sky. If they left them in the hanger, they all would've been blown up in their hangers. I bet they expecting another Gulf War. American fights for a bit, Air strikes for a bit and then goes home. After, you can dig up all your shit you were hiding. Saddam didn't know they seriously wanted to kill him this time.

>have Airforce
>only effective place to oper8 planes is subterranean
Baste

I'm sure the Iraqi Air Force was OK enough at what it was for, bombing Kurds and other pesky minority groups when they try to revolt. Or, intimidating other pathetic Arab countries.

But, of course it wasn't the type of air force that could hope to do anything against the entire US led invasion coalition.
