Hi Jow Forums. I'm not on this board very often. I really don't want to go into details but I'm some regular jack off concealed carry with one gen 4 glock 19. Someone broke into my house last week in the middle of the night. I grabbed my gun and told them I was armed. After hearing the person in my house pull the slide on their gun I knew it was a fight for the death. I fired multiple shots and the man just fell dead. Gone, I had killed someone. I know he broke into my house, I know he would have killed me but. Even after the courts and my family telling me I did what I had to do and I shouldn't feel bad about killing him it just feels so strange. I killed someone. I actually killed someone. I'm not military, I'm not a tough guy, the last time I got in a fist fight was in middle school. I don't know why I'm even asking but. Have any of you guys had to do this? How did you feel afterwards? Any ideas for getting over this? Thanks Jow Forums.

That's because I'm not trying to tell people about the incident. I'm trying to get some advice for coping with killing someone.
First get a book on mindfulness. It will have strategies to help deal with the images you're seeing. If that doesn't help see a psychologist - be wary of therapists. I'm not from the US, but in the UK anyone with a few hundred can do some bs course to call themselves one. A psychologist has to do a degree then a few thousand hours of supervised on the job training.
If things get really bad - you can't sleep, become severely paranoid, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts - see a psyche for some jew medicine. I'd reccomend beta-blocks and diazepam before trying anti-depressants.

Im sure there are therapists for this exact reason. But they'll be pricey. My question is, you weren't arrested but you were charged, since you have trial next week. Did you get arraigned? There is, specialising in trauma. Police may be able to reccommend someone. Psychologist > psychiatrist >>>>>therapist/councillor. If you do to see someone do your research, don't be afraid to ask their qualifications.
Honestly I don't know what the courts want. I'm being told by my public defender I don't have anything to worry about and my case will be quick. I guess because someone is dead I have to present my case to a court? I've been guaranteed to get out of this without issue. There might even be a good chance I'll get a court pardon if the judge has no further questions.

Judges and juries are notoriously unpredictable and can do whatever they damn well please, regardless of the law. It may be overturned on appeal, of course, but that costs $$$$$.
There's no such thing as a "court pardon." At the arraignment, the grand jury can find "no true bill" in response to a prosecutor's request for an indictment, meaning the jury thinks the charges are bullshit and won't go along with the process to put you on trial. Or, if you are indicted, a jury can find you not guilty--but that is a lot less common. Most prosecutors in the US won't try to put someone on trial if they don't think they're going to get one for the "win" column that they can boast about for the reelection campaign. American jury trials result in convictions on some or all charges something like 98% of the time.

Is it an arraignment in front of a grand jury, in which the prosecutor will ask the grand jury to vote on whether to indict you or not? Or are you going to trial on formal charges in front of a jury? The first, assuming you are telling the truth about it being self-defense, and taking place in your home (Florida has a Castle Doctrine law in addition to Stand Your Ground), then yes, assuming you don't show up wearing a Punisher skull t-shirt and spaz out and go totally autismo on the stand, then yeah, that's probably just a formality and the grand jury will roll their eyes and say "let my nigga Anonymous go free."
But if you've been formally charged and indicted and this is a criminal trial? Well, you'd probably be in jail on umpty million dollars bond right now rather than at home on Jow Forums.

what you describe is pretty much a clear cut self defense case, but we're only hearing one half of it (not that we would be able to hear the other half). Given florida law you're immune to criminal and civil suit, so the 'hearing' you are describing is probably just to review the facts of the case and see if it falls within justifiable homicide (which an unknown person being in your house and not leaving after you warn them that you are armed is 100% self defense). You shouldn't have anything to worry about.
