A long time ago when I was doing reenacting we had the opposite problem; natural colored leather gear that needed to be white. We used acrylic paint mixed with iirc(!) a third of water. This thin pain penetrated sufficiently into the leather to stay that way even when the surface would get scratches later.

Try fieblings(spelling) leather dye and failing that you'll have to paint over with Angelus acrylic leather paint.
