Night vision goggles are literally useless

Night vision goggles are literally useless
they get ruined by any kind of bright light

So you mean they work well at night time?

what is auto gate you faggot

Wow who knew a device meant for use at night doesn't handle light all that well. Also bullshit because they auto adjust. Anyway what's a good cheap entry NVG?

Stop using gen 1 shit.

That's why you use them in the dark

Not him but are monoculars really any good? it seems kind of impractical to use a monoculars instead of a dual tube

>dumb phoned-in question and bait picture
I'm gonna pretend you tried to start a quality thread. Somewhat modern NV and digital NV automatically compensate for light changes, and have solved this problem for the most part.

Fuck off. You people are the cancer killing Jow Forums, wanting to turn it into your personal faggot dump as much as possible because you're too lazy to get whatever cringy fetish art you like, somewhere else.

Cringe.

I used that term first. Find another one, reddit tranny.

>splatoon poster is a fucking retard
every time

Yikes.

This isn't bad for the price (relative to analogue)

Pros:
>Overexposure proof
>Solid construction, reasonably shock resistant (wouldn't go dropping it onto concrete), can be improved with a few wraps of self sealing tape
>IP67 rating (waterproof unless you leave it submerged at the bottom of a pool for a day or two)
>Sees in color (ir makes the colors go all screwy)
>Almost comparable to gen3 with a little ambient light
>Is a purpose built video camera with standard 1/4 inch thread for mounting to stuff
>Can livestream to your phone and by proxy the internet
>Built in gps/compass, lets you track where you've been (can disable gps (allegedly))
>Different photo/video modes like slowmo/time lapse
>Variable framerate in video mode lets you balance exposure with viewing/video quality
>Super sensitive to IR (possibly moreso than gen3 but correct me if i'm wrong)
>Adjustable diopter for use with goggles/masks/varying levels of eyesight
>Goes into standby when it has nothing in front of it
>Takes standard camera battery, swappable and spares are easily carried
>Digital zoom (720p so it's only very slightly useful)

Cons:
>720p resolution is ass; not good for fine detail beyond 50m or so
>Colour night vision is a meme unless you're using it like a regular gopro
>Manual focus ring only, need to constantly fiddle with it if you're looking into thick brush (not really an issue to do on the fly, can leave it on max distance until you want a closeup)
>Sucks in very low light
>Image gets blown out if powerful IR lights up something closeby, takes a second or two to become usable again and ~10-20s to recover fully (with diminishing returns)
>A tad bulky for helmet mounting
>Built in gps/compass/tracking is accessible by SiOnyx via the mobile app (they seem legit but who knows)
>Small input lag that isn't great for helmet mounting but isn't noticeable when handheld

>Has a stupid green LED on the front
>Lowest screen brightness mode is a little bright if you want your eye to stay fully adjusted
>Mode switching in the dark is an excersize in memory, no backlit indicators on the dial
>~2.5h battery life (constant use, significantly longer with auto sleep)
>Battery is a bitch to swap out in the dark (need to pull the thing in half, battery retention catch is tiny and awkward
>Lens has no lip around it and is just begging to be smashed
>No lens protector included, only the temporary non scratch resistant film it's shipped with, need to buy your own generic lens cap (~$5 and fits perfectly)
>Technology it is in its early steps, comparable to early iPods, going to be outclassed by what ever comes next for digital night vision

Will post more pros/cons if I think of any

>Not wanting to be a modern day pirate
user, I...

Jesus Christ. Have sex already, boy or girl. Just stop posting child porn.

what if i don't have two thousand dollars burning a hole in my pocket
am i SOL or are there diy alternatives or some shit

You should save.
Anything worse than what was suggested will be practically unusable

This both physically and spiritually disgusts me. You're a terrible person for even posting this image much less saving it.
