Depends on where you live, even in the same city it depends on how close you are to waterfronts. I live in Jacksonville and have never had any trouble with hurricanes, even when we've been hit directly (which is rare, usually they fuck off or lose power by the time they reach us). Occasionally a tree will get blown over or I'll lose electricity for a couple days but that's it. Worst was around 2007 I think when we got hit 3 or 4 times in a row in just a couple months and had to go without electricity and water for about a week. I'm a few blocks from a river too but far enough away it's not a flood problem.
Some people can get pretty cucked by flooding, so make sure you're not in a floodzone.
