M1 Garand seems like the kind of girl who would ride you until you pass out from sheer exhaustion, and when you wake up later that morning she's making pancakes while wearing nothing but your shirt.

Pretty much that, user.

Pic semi-related.

I wish I could shoot mine more, but every other round, the trigger assembly falls out. Tried shimming the stock, and it didn't help at all. Any advice? Pic related is mine.

What do those cost?

She's a beauty user

Literally just drove back from Anniston, where I bought this baby at the CMP South Store this morning. Hand-picked her off the rack myself. She's a Field Special - re-parkerized, brand-new stock and barrel. Bound to be a sweet shooter, which (since I'm not a collector) is what I'm looking for. Got her home and immediately installed a ported gas plug so I can shoot just about any ammo safely. Very happy with her - can't wait to get out to the range.

Attached: 2019-06-27.jpg (1000x750, 132K)

Mine ran me $850. There are cheaper ones on the racks (regular old Field Grades for $650). They also had seven 1903s on the racks for $650 each - every so often they'll have a few at the Stores even though you can't get them online.
Thanks, user! I think so too. It was close between two or three rifles, but this one was the best in my price range. Like I said, I'm not a collector, so I was looking mostly for a good shooter, and I think I have one.

I have a M1A, should I pick up a M1 Garand?

the MFS steel case 30-06 shoots real good, it's nickel plated to.

start rubbing son.

Yes.

Hope you took the detour to the Talladega marksmanship park. Their covered line has electronically scored targets out to 600 yards. One of the nicest ranges in the country.

That's bs but I believe it.

Sorry user

I recently bought an M1 from the cmp. A field grade IHC. It came with a hackberry stock and I would like to replace it with a nice walnut set. I'm open to new or used GI. What does user recommend?

Attached: d1842b7de2516f8904b9c093740ab412.jpg (1080x810, 229K)

Just put my order in yesterday for one of the IHCs. How do you like it? What's wrong with the stock?

CMP sells new walnut sets for $150 or so. You can find the lovely old GI stocks on ebay or gunbroker, but they command a price if they are pretty or unique.

How bad (or not) of an idea is ordering a Field Grade for a shooter, if you can't make it to a store to be able to look at them and select a specific one?

Worst case scenario, you buy a new barrel. If you're that concerned, spend the extra $100 on a service grade.

Does anyone know if the field grade is less reliable or accurate then the service grade? I am in Tennessee and want to drive down and get one but they said they don't have any service grades at the South store.

Too little gas

Are you R. Lee Ermey, by any chance?

I like this quite possibly way to much

Attached: lee enfield.jpg (3100x4300, 843K)

The finish on it is pretty bad, and I've heard people say that they can break. Other than that the rifle is wonderful. Nice worn finish, IHC bolt and Reciever. Low barrel and throat readings. 1+ and 2 If I remember correctly. I went to Port Clinton to hand select mine. I also picked up 200 rounds of Lapua 30-06 for 80 bucks a box, they were running a special. Bayonet, sling and 25 enblocs. You're going to love it.
Ok, I'll take a look.

Hello fellow Tennesseean. I'm , and did the drive down from Greeneville this week. I made it a two-day trip: Day one I went through Atlanta, did some shopping at Fry's and H-Mart, and then kept going toward Anniston, where I got a cheap hotel room for the night. The CMP Store opens at 8AM, and you'll want to be there right when it opens because there will already be a line of 10-15 people there waiting, and they'll pick the best ones off the shelves as soon as the doors open (though I've heard they often do a restock around midday). If you sleep in and get there around 9 or 10, all the best raifus will be gone already.

I didn't see a single Service Grade while I was there, and that's what I was looking for. There were 2-3 regular Field Grades, maybe 6-7 1903s, and a bunch of CMP Specials. I ended up browsing through them and getting the nicest one I could find, which ended up being a Field Special.

The other customers there were mostly a group of pretty fudd-looking guys, tbqh - lots of John Deere ball caps, t-shirts with something vaguely militaristic on them, and dually pickup trucks with American flag or NRA bumper stickers. Most of them seemed to be collectors, and spent a lot of time talking about serial numbers and correct parts. A couple of them had even brought reference books along with them. I was able to get my raifu without much competition because it's apparently not a particularly collectible one.

Bring your driver's license, birth certificate or passport (yes, bring that IN ADDITION to your driver's license), your club membership card (mine was GCA), your proof of marksmanship (or CCW license), and your payment method. Keep in mind that the CMP is specifically legally exempt from the Gun Control Act of 1968, so their process is a little different than you might be used to. You'll be filling out a CMP-specific info form instead of a 4473 (it has a lot fewer questions on it and takes less time to fill out). They'll still run you past NICS though. The whole process will take about an hour if it's your first time.

I'll take a field grade if it functions the same as the service grade in terms of accuracy and reliability. I also plan on making it a all weekend trip. How much were the 1903s by the way, I thought they exhausted there supply of them.

>I'll take a field grade if it functions the same as the service grade in terms of accuracy and reliability.
CMP won't sell a rifle that doesn't function safely and reliably. That said, don't necessarily go there with what you want to get in mind. Instead, go through the rack they have and see which raifu calls to you.
>I also plan on making it a all weekend trip. How much were the 1903s by the way, I thought they exhausted there supply of them.
The 1903s I saw were $650 each. They apparently still have a VERY limited supply of them - so few that it's not worth listing them on their website, and they sell them only at the two CMP Stores.

You must be new here fellow Redditor!!

I might snag a 1903 for the collection in that case. Is it the same case with carbines?

>Is it the same case with carbines?
No. CMP is well and truly out of M1 Carbines, and unless they get some back from another Lend-Lease country, they'll probably never have any ever again.

I recently bought an estate lot that included a ~1960 National Match. It has no papers and a 6,000,000+ serial number.
It's in great condition but has no papers. Is this gun a shooter or should it be locked away? It will never be sold, by me, as the estate sale was my grandfather's and I bought his entire collection to keep in one piece.

Well shit. Any suggestions of where to find carbines that won't cost a fortune? I am going down there when I get my next paycheck, So I got two weeks to plan.

if you write the CMP they can confirm if it originated from them.

I see you pinged your pingas

>promise you won't stare

no promises are made.

Last I knew it was a blue board. I got a ban for posting a picture of an ass a few years ago.

>CMP won't sell a rifle that doesn't function safely and reliably.

people do get cmp rifles that dont function or have issues, but they accept returns and will fix it free.

I picked up an early Universal, mostly usgi parts, for 600$.

Didn't run right at first. But a THOROUGH cleaning and a liberally amount of grease and she runs great.

Beware new mags and 30rnders. They fit loose in my magwell and fail to feed. No problems with usgi mags tho.
