Wtf is that

Can anyone recommend a good adjustable garand gas plug? My BM59 is crazy over gassed and I'd like to fuckin shoot it without breaking the damn thing.

Got mine from garand gear, not really big into the ballistics or any other info on it, all i know is that i can shoot modern ammo without killing the damn gun. No complaints here.

Got my CMP Garand earlier this year. Currently wearing a web sling and I have a Turkish bayonet for shits and giggles.

She used to be in an M14E2 configuration, but it turned out to be a terrible setup.

Dude.

The 14.5” barrel really helps with the aesthetic of the gun.

Sexy

>but it turned out to be a terrible setup
Which should surprise no one. How is your barrel? Most select fires I have run across were completely shot out and no one likes working on them because muh original parts.

>A-Team theme song plays in the background

That’s pretty cool user.

My April of 1955 CMP Springfield. Service grade, I was almost in disbelief when I opened the box. Minus a few stock dings, it’s virtually pristine.

Sorry user, I grew up and bought my favorite buy from kino der toten.

IMHO they should ship straight out of the factory with the accu-strut cause it does wonders for the aesthetics of the weapon, and like Flannel Daddy taught us: looking cool is half the battle.

Just sent in an order to the CMP for one of their specials with the new barrel and stock. Really looking forward to getting it in a couple of weeks.

I really want a garand. I know CMP has a form you fill out. What is the process like and which grade or whatever would you recommend?

And here's her grandkid - my Mini-14, which I bought when I lived in California and still love.

Hey are you that leaf who built a sporter .308 Garand?

Is that a field grade?

getting close user

I bought mine about 10 years ago, but I don’t think the process has changed.
You obviously fill out the forms, they have to be notarized. You need some proof of live fire training, this can be a variety of things, my hunter education course counted since it included some .22 rifle range time. Check the CMP website for what else counts. You also need membership in one of their affiliated clubs. The Garand Collectors Association is probably the most popular, the annual membership is reasonable, something like $40 and you get their magazine that is actually pretty cool and informative.
I’d recommend going with a Service Grade, that’s your best chance of getting a nice one. It is luck of the draw, I’ve seen pictures of Service Grade M1s that looked a lot rougher than mine, but appearance isn’t the main grading criteria, it’s mechanical condition/wear. I got lucky with mine.

Well it's not a sporter, but it is sporting.
But yes

Post pics when you get it user.

Thanks, it’s a sweet shooter too.

That’s pretty awesome, nice job user.

What kind of finish did you apply to the steel?

BM59 that I recently acquired. Needed a lil grease before I could get her to cycle right, but now she functions like a dream.

If yours is a James River Armory, I'd recommend greasing the ever living fuck out of the action because mine was bare dry when I bought it.

cerakote

Does little sis get a spot here?

Question on garands maybe you guys can help me with: whenever I try to fire it, the bolt doesn't seem to budge and consequently doesn't eject the round. I've tried the tilt test, checking the gas system (gas plug is screwed in tight and port appears to be unobstructed), and loading single rounds as opposed to enblocs. Any other suggestions?

Remind me again of how you put this one together?

How is the .30 carbine against bears

The barrel was swapped decades ago, though I’m tired and can’t remember the manufacturer’s name. It’s a common mid-range one. Makes me wish I could look up if she ever saw any service.

Seems to match, minus the barrel. The E2 build was just for fun. She’s back in her old stock now.
