My money making scheme is to alternate between camp golf and forlorn hope, sneak attack killing all the rangers for their combat armor, then repairing it with the trooper armor I get from the troopers at the camp as well. The fully repaired armor is worth like 8k caps and then I drain the gun runners vendor of all his caps and ammo

One thing always fucked me up about the vendors in this game, do they count out each individual cap when you buy things, or do they have some kind of machine that counts it for them? Does Cliff Briscoe have to stand there and count 12k caps when I buy Paciencia from him? Does the robot have to count all 28k caps when I purchase Medicine Stick? These are the questions I need answers to

Yes. Vault 34 has some great rewards other than the armor too. There's also benefits to rushing survival to get khans recipes and honest hearts for 45acps, later than vault 34 though.
