He made a big blogpost about how none of us shoot as much as him and promised not to come back.
The quality of /hg/ has improved dramatically.

Snowflake gun?

Based
I always enjoy your posts SEboy

Very nice, that's a bit of a unicorn if I'm not mistaken. I just picked up a PCR today for $480, been wanting one for years and the price was just too good.

Now that's my kind of edition.

Attached: mab me.jpg (2200x1467, 1.08M)

why doesnt walther get more love? Is it bad marketing, import laws, or are they not as good as I hope for?
I really want a p99, a ppq and a ppk

Attached: walther collection.jpg (1800x1483, 1.07M)

Order select fire mod, heavy barrel -lose gun - ?? How?
>inb4 boat exploding.

They're fine. The modern Walther line is just impressively unremarkable.

Attached: 1475453437166.png (280x272, 101K)

Nice desk and Walthers dude

Walther was hype af up until about 2-3 years ago before which its only competition really was glokk and HK. But we've seen some really great guns come to market since then, and now Walther is putting creepy triggers in their PPQs so the "great trigger" pitch is becoming a meme.

I think a lot of people think "this costs as much as a glocc I might as well get a gloque" or "for a little more I could get a P30/USP/P2000" and skip it, or now the other options like the P10C and M&P M2.0 stole some thunder.

tl;dr Walthers are excellent quality, but don't have much market presence to bank on. If they quit making guns look like someone accidentally them on a stove I think they'd gain popularity.

Attached: bobb.jpg (2000x1333, 698K)

I want this snowflake but basically I have no money. Tell me why it's shit so I feel less bad.

Attached: X912.jpg (1800x1374, 299K)

I realoly want a gucci 1911 but I also want to carry it and not just buy a 2,000 dollar safe queen.
Looking at the TRP line, but am open to other suggestions

Attached: Springfield-TRP-1911.jpg (1350x926, 302K)

A nice watch will get ypu more pussy.

I can't tell you why it's shit but I can tell you why you should be ill when you see the price.

Wilson machines them almost entirely automatically. They've posted videos about their great wonderful modern production process; they load frames into one machine, press a button and go to sleep. They come back the next morning and 40 frames are 100% done. Same for slides. They're then fitted for 20-30 minutes, finished, sights installed, and they've printed $120,000 per day. Fucking disgusting, that gun has no business costing that much.

Les Baers are pretty famous for being expensive but also hardy duty guns meant to be used and worn.

But I guess you're not talking about $2,500 1911s. SA is great. Do you need something with a rail? Like you want to carry a giant ass 1911, with a huge ass light on it?

oh boy, this thread's for me

Attached: IMG_20190222_160101.jpg (2448x3264, 1.83M)

>that gun has no business costing that much.
But it's so pretty. It's not you could get someone to make you something similar for the same price.

You're better off with the Dan Wesson Specialist if you're thinking about the TRP.

Is that a flare gun? What in God’s name Burt?

My 99021 negro.
Love my 99041.

Are you...are you joking?

preferred to not have a rail DESU, maybe ill get a few different tacticool ones if I get the money one day but I want one just like the pic I posted. No rail, raised sights, skeleton hammer/trigger, large and ambidextrous safety, preferred black or stainless steel

I guess this fits the theme of the thread too, but I bought a Walther PP in .22lr yesterday for a pretty great price.

Attached: b.jpg (1080x810, 105K)

hello

Attached: IMG_0528.jpg (4032x3024, 2.43M)

Probably costs that much to pay for all that automation.

magnum research mountain eagle if I'm not mistaken.

Magnum research mountain eagle, his being the "compact" version. Funky little .22lr pistol.

For the person in the last thread who was asking about the Ramline exactor, $150 is a great price for one. If I had a 3D printer and an exactor of my own, I'd try to print out some new mags for them since I don't want to pay $100 for shitty brittle mags.

I want cheap target practice with a J-frame or similar revolver

I just found out about wax bullets costing about the same as 22, good to 30 feet which works fine for short barrel guns anyway

Any reason I should get a separate 22 revolver, instead of practicing with Wax bullets in the full-caliber model?

Attached: wax bullets.jpg (360x184, 24K)

Hate to hijack the thread ...

But this is now a *sharts and does a backflip* edition

Attached: 33DA9C4F-7991-46CA-AC25-6435805C3886.jpg (1000x755, 78K)

No but they could charge $1,500 and still be making a mint, there is no way that gun costs more than $2-400 to produce start to finish. They could charge $2,000 even and it would still be kind of worth it. But $3,000 is fucking outrageous for a gun that's not slaved over by craftsmen for a week, hand fitted, hand checkered, hand polished. THAT'S what is supposed to make custom 1911s so expensive, but the EDCX9 isn't custom at all, the checkering is done by machine, there is no polishing and who knows what level of barrel fitment is needed when every single part is 100% perfectly made off a CNC machine.

It's pretty hard to read, and it's a wacky gun most people wouldn't have heard of.

It's a Magnum Research Mountain Eagle (not the rifle which is also called Mountain Eagle). Also sold as the Ramline Exactor.

Then the world is your oyster, there are dozens of guns that fit the bill from Colt, Springfield, Ruger, STI, Sig and Fusion. Maybe even Kimber if you're feeling brave. Not sure which ones have series 80 safeties or not, if that matters to you at all.

I remember when Larue bought like 50 new CNC machines to make his MBT triggers non stop. He churns them out like water, and has been selling them for $80-100 for like 4 years, meanwhile Geissele's SSA-E is $200+. Larue paid for those machines in months by selling WAY MORE triggers for less money. WC is doing the opposite, milking their brand recognition for boomerbux, instead of whoring out EDC X9s for reasonable money to 100x more people. If they were $1,500, I would absolutely own one. But I'll never pay $3,000 for an automated production gun that isn't even blued. That's insane.

Attached: great technique.jpg (2200x1467, 630K)

I'm starting to realize that I have more snowflake pistols than not. I need to take a photo of this one with my new RE scene setup thing I have going now. Or maybe get a red dress...

Attached: Maus 6.jpg (1500x1000, 1.58M)

Thanks man.

Increased volume in exchange for thinner margins could create more profits, but scaling up production, distribution, service (warranty claims, etc.) brings a lot of risk.
In order to scale up, WC would have to get a loan at pretty high interest (operating companies are inherently risky) AND invest a substantial amount of their own capital as part of the loan agreement AND keep significant reserves of money to cover interest payments, potential breakdowns, cover insurance as part of the loan agreement (basically this cash is sitting around doing nothing) . This would shrink the profit gains from the increased volume. It also puts them at a lot of added risk if the edc x9 is no longer popular, the pistol market slows down, etc.

>too boring didn’t read
rapid expansion = higher leverage = greater risk & expense

I’ve had a PPQ for a couple of years now, and I do like it but I want to try something new now. Looking at a Steyr M9. Would this be a worthy alternative? Steyr handguns seem to have a pretty good reputation from what I’ve seen on reviews and such.

>several million in r&d, programming, equipment, tooling, machines, and, lest we forget, minds
>no business

So dont but it, simple as that.

Attached: 1563318887382.gif (600x338, 1.83M)

>weeks long, hand fitted and full custom 1911s should only cost 3 grand

Oh boy do I have news for you.

Attached: BWCS_1.jpg (1200x900, 1.32M)

I don't have any guns in .45 ACP which I intend to correct.

There's a Beretta Cougar .45 at a nearby pawn shop for $375 in A- condition, almost looks like it's never been shot. Should I bring this home or should I just get a 1911?

Attached: 123d1b0d4dd9e41b51c8994929253125.jpg (640x517, 43K)

They wouldn't have to do any of that, they already have the machines and the CAD files. They make 40 guns a day. They're in literal push-button-recieve-bux mode.

So, just forever huh? They just always cost that much to develop and program indefinitely? In 10 years they'll still cost the same because one time 15 years prior they were programmed and developed?

They already had the machines, already had CNC programmers, already had decades of 1911 experience. MILLIONS in development? Hudson started with something like $9,000,000 to completely design an absolutely bespoke brand new gun from scratch, scoop every person in the company, lease space, buy every single machine, program every single part, source and pay manufacturers for contract parts, dig up and contract material suppliers, plug the product and pay salaries for 2 years. They made a string of mistakes which killed the company but Wilson didn't have to do any of that except program new CNC paths. They already had everything.

Maybe I'm underselling the EDC X9, but y'all dudes are definitely overselling it. It ain't worth $3,000 no matter how you cut it. It's not a balls out custom 1911 deserving that kind of money in exchange for the care and man-hours that go into its production. It's a mass produced product deserving a mass produced price.

I think the Larue example is pretty apt. Geissele sells their cast triggers slowly for $220 at massive profit, Larue sells their machined billet triggers quickly for $80 at minimal profit. They sell so fast there's usually a months-long wait time.

Bro if you get that you can 100% larp as Domingo Chavez

Give it a fiddle and see if you like how it feels. The grip angle is steeper than a Vertec so it's not like most guns, but it has that great Beretta trigger.

Attached: nine thousand.jpg (2400x1600, 487K)

Oh also side note, that's a good price if it's a BERETTA but not so good if it's a Stoeger

Have a steel frame decocker.
I am really liking the weight during shooting vs. the P-01. Also, I am not sure if this gun really was with some israeli police unit, but I notice some stuff in it look very similar to cajun aftermarket, especially that firing pin stop pin.

>Because you've recouped the cost of your idea, you no longer NEED to sell it for an actual profit after all these years
Hey tell any automotive manufacturer to stop making money, or tell appliance makers to stop making money, or homebuilders, etc.
>larue
>being anywhere near the quality of a Geissele or any other brand for that matter
Mark is going through a divorce and he needed to generate a stream of income, and theres a reason its called the Meticulously Burred Trigger by many groups who use them.

And no, WG will probably adjust the price of the EDC X9 at some point to account for inflation and replacement tooling before they phase it out into their next product line that will no doubt cost even more.

Need I remind you that springfield sells a TRP thats been "hand fitted" and stamped PROFESSIONAL for 3 grand and has none of the engineering or features that the X9 has.

can I send guns in to wiley clapp and get them customized or do I just have to pick one that they have already touched

Attached: ruger gp 100.jpg (736x552, 80K)

About to buy an hk P2k 9mm v3 this weekend as a one and done handgun (for the next few years at least). It'll be used for practice, concealed carry, and the occasional open carry while /out/. Any objections?

Attached: 9908_1_.jpg (800x600, 137K)

I already have 3 pistol but never really got into properly taking them apart. Aside from the field strip for cleaning of course. The main reason why I wan't to do it is because now I'm paying a gunsmith to change triggers or replace springs for me. (since I shoot a lot, the trigger return spring on my CZ and beretta have broken and needed to be replaced. I know it's a small job to replace it yourself but I just don't have the tools. Cost me some unnecessary funds each time)

>What are some of the the tools that I could need for making my own minimalist work station? I'd be working on a cz 75, a beretta 92 and a 1911

apart from a rubber hammer and a set op roll pin punches.

>Because you've recouped the cost of your idea, you no longer NEED to sell it for an actual profit after all these years
No, the idea is you start selling a product at a fair price right away, not try to recoup costs in 3 months and keep the thing at a high price. Nobody lowers prices, that was my point in the price should never have been as high as it was. Wilson is taking advantage of people with that artificially high price (imo, this is all imo, no reason to get tilted) instead of pricing it honestly.

I have had 5 Geisseles and 2 MBTs. Apart from my Hi Speed, the MBT is a better trigger than anything Geissele makes imo. I love both brands, but don't even try it dude, Larue wins hands down. The fact that one is machined and one is cast, and one costs less than half as much as the other is icing on the cake. Nobody outside arg calls them "burred" because it's a baseless meme made up by 19 year olds, the MBT is rabidly fanboi'd outside arg. So are Geisseles. Really neither is an excellent trigger, they're both just very good, it's just that one has virtues the other doesn't.

Also those TRPs are ridiculously overpriced too, but nobody brought up a $3,000 TRP in hg, they brought up the EDC X9. I'm not picking on Wilson exclusively, I'm an equal opportunity bemoaner. :)

I just got one. It's a solid little gun. If you're buying it new you're probably overpaying by at least a little bit, I have seen them used to as little as $400 and I just bought mine for $430, it looks brand new;

Attached: triggs.jpg (2600x1733, 1.55M)

You could buy the tools needed 3 times over for what you're likely paying a gunsmith, hey? If this is something you expect to do often, it makes sense to buy tools and do it yourself. It makes no sense if you're paying someone else MORE than the cost of tools. Plus tools have a million uses, you're buying them to use them with all kinds of stuff, not just changing trigger springs. Some useful gunsmithing tools:

-a small hammer (I don't think I've ever used a mallet or rubber hammer, you can use the hammer's wooden handle to gently tap things)
-GOOD punch set, don't buy crap, Starrett is great, I have not yet broken a Tekton USA which impresses me
-beat block/bench block, Brownells is good, Wheeler on Amazon is ok
-bench vise with soft jaws, or some strips of leather or plastic to protect what you're clamping
-smooth jaw needle nose pliers for holding tiny springs

You can do a Beretta TRS with just a punch and nothing else. Or hecc you can use a butter knife or a screwdriver or a Q-tip, they're easy, I've done it with just my fingers. CZ75 is a little trickier but you can do it with a punch and patience. Needle nose pliers help.

Attached: PX4 Decocker Only.jpg (1900x1267, 348K)

What? I changed the trigger, trs, hammer spring, and mag release on my Beretta M9 without any tools except some needlenose pliers. It's easy as fuck. It was designed to be worked in the field, user.

Hey guys.

I'm a beginner (started shooting three months ago) and i have a Beretta 92 FS but my instructor told me it wasn't an optimal firearm for dynamic shooting (which i intend to start training). It was obviously his opinion but i can respect it, the 92 is quite heavy, the double / single action adds another layer to something that could and should be streamlined as possible and the ergonomics of the weapon isn't as smooth as some of the most recent weapons on the market.

What would you recommend ?

Get a 10MM pistol, convert it to 9x25 Dillon, and never look back. You will have one of the nicest guns around and anyone who tells you differently is stupid.

Keep the Beretta.

What do you mean by "dynamic shooting" though? Practical shooting competitions? Yeah, it's not a race gun, but it's a very good service pistol.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

No.
Obviously i will keep my Beretta, i like it. But yeah, practical shooting competitions and various drills.

Ok retard.

I am now almost all walther for my modern auto loading handguns. Feels good man

Get dabbed lel

Attached: IMG_20190717_120224427.jpg (2689x2268, 1008K)

>92 is quite heavy
That's a good thing unless you're carryong it concealed, it helps with recoil. Also, it's not that heavy.
>the double / single action adds another layer to something that could and should be streamlined
That's just an opinion. I prefer DA/SA because of the flexibility it affords. I like the option of having a manual safety, but not the necessity of using it. I like the quality of a single action trigger and the safety of an initial DA trigger. Striker triggers just kind of suck ass and Glock's trigger safety is less than ideal in some carry configurations.

Well the Beretta is just fine for stock gun class competitions. Mastering the DA/SA isn't difficult. If you get really into competition you will probably want to upgrade, but for now it won't be holding you back. A Glock, which I'm guessing your instructor is suggesting, isn't really superior in any way whatsoever.

I recommend getting the extra tall mag release and "D" hammer spring for your Beretta. These are cheap upgrades that will greatly enhance your experience with the Beretta.

>imo
>imo
>imo
So you at least admit that you dont have a clue, got it.

Is that Q4 new?

Yeah I literally don't know anything about what I own, also there is a quantifiable "best" anything and it's definitely not individual opinion.
ps I'm being sarcastic

>sarcastic
I'd honestly believe you though.

thanks a lot for the answer!

Problem is that my knowledge on the 92 is not sufficient to replace my spring at this moment (as it is broken, AGAIN). But I can't seem to find any proper videos on it on youtube.

could you provide any info on how to replace the TRS? and regarding the need for punches, I was talking about the CZ

in any case, it seems like I'm fucked because I can't seem to find a TRS for cheap on the internet. That is, I live in the EU so shipping cost from the US would be a bit much

>could you provide any info on how to replace the TRS?
I just watched a couple of videos on Youtube and fiddled around with it. It's a really simple device, user.

Yep just picked it up

The neat thing about the Beretta 92 trs is that when you break one of the little hooks, you can just flip it around and use the other side.

Attached: 773782.jpg (880x660, 16K)

>I can't seem to find a TRS for cheap on the internet. That is, I live in the EU so shipping cost from the US would be a bit much
Bro, it can be put in an envelope and shipped with a $1.50 Global stamp. Check eBay.

If I had a spare on hand ship it to you for free.

I think I should mention that one potential issue with installing the Beretta TRS is that it installs a little differently depending on whether you have a steel or plastic trigger. I don't quite remember how it fits on a plastic trigger, but on a steel trigger I believe one of the ends of the trs needs to sit on top of the slide stop bar and that it doesn't work that way with the plastic trigger. I'm not 100% on this though and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

Believe what, that I say "x is the best" anything? idk how you want to apply that to me, I'm the dude in every thread saying there is NO best ANYTHING and to try things for xiself. I don't know if I've ever flat out said "this is the best X." What you're describing is literally the opposite of me. Unless I'm misunderstandimating you in which case sorry.

You have youtube my dude, you can be a 5 minute expert like me!

To replace the TRS in a 92 take the slide stop lever, slide stop lever spring, trigger bar and trigger bar spring off, push out the trigger pivot pin, remove the old spring, put the new spring in, put the trigger pivot pin back in, use a punch or a pen tip or a loop of twine to hold the rear hook of the TRS up and slide the trigger bar back in. Watch a video to see how it goes together if that's not descriptive enuff

Very rad!

Attached: m9a3 anodizing.jpg (1200x1800, 255K)

Hey do you have any of these +2 baseplates? I didn't think they'd give the gun that much of a different feel but I'm very surprised. Highly recommend it

Attached: JPEG_20190717_140722.jpg (4032x3024, 1.35M)

I have one or two that came with my PPQ First Edition, I don't think I've ever noticed since my fingers don't get off the bottom of the PPQ grip. I'll bring them out and see next time I shoot a Walther tho!

Yeah they're really nice. Make a really nice difference on the reload

thanks for the advice, frens

What's the gun on the left

This popped out for consignment on one of my lgs and was wondering if its worth looking at? Its a Colt Combat Commander series 70

Attached: DSC_0092__54350.1486227563.1280.1280.jpeg.jpg (1149x815, 833K)

I heard those Stoegers are good shooters.

Wiley Clapp doesn’t do the work, it’s just a name

Do you own an mbt? I am guessing no

Are you going to buy the new Langdon tactical reduced reset trigger bar and when are you doing the review

Q5 poly here, is that a +2 you put on the standard mag and in the background?

It's standard on the q4. They're extremely nice to use. Brought both to the range today and I'm happy with it

Attached: JPEG_20190717_163540.jpg (4032x3024, 1.32M)

I intend to sell my Springfield loaded stainless 1911 because the stainless fad I was in is over and I want a more combat-ready looking 1911.
I've had it for 2-3 years and put like 1200 rounds through it (I mostly shoot 9mm due to price) with only 1 ftf due to what I think was a heavily fouled chamber.
I'm looking at the Dan weeson a2 because I like the classic look but I'm concerned about the grip hump, i've never handled one.
The specialist would be next but I don't want a rail.
Any feedback on the a2? Also, what other suggestions?

What are thoughts on the Glock 43? Especially as compared to the p365? I like the 43, but everyone screams p365

$450ish, assuming the new all-black ones coming out this month are the same price

I bought a g42, it's less snappy and a bit smaller and a bit easier to shoot. All three options are good

All black? Are you referring to 43x?

nope both, 48 too

Why are they picking on the gunlet? No bully.

Ahh yes, I was referring to the first 43

The 43 has always been available in black.

Why on Earth anyone would buy a 43x escapes me though

holy shit i'm retarded, meant to reply in another thread but yea both are black

They are afaik, they're basically identical to Berettas but the logo on the side changes the value

No I already have the Wilson one which is total snake oil.

I am however waiting for Langdon to release their Beretta PX4 reset reduction kit! Very anxiously awaiting. Shouldn't be long now...

I don't know about the A2 specifically but the old CZ 1911s made by Dan Wesson are some of the nicest GI type guns ever made so I should think the A2 which is the same thing plus modern stuff would also be great.

Anywho, Ruger Night Watchman or Talo Rail, Sig Tacops or STX, Colt Combat Unit or Rail Gun, STI Trojan (used or NOS, STI doesn't make 1911s anymore), I know you said no rail but tough noogies. Or trade your stainless Loaded for a dark Loaded. Also you can always swap the MSH on the A2 for a normal flat one.

I have a Beretta M9; not the 92/92A1 -- the M9. I would, however, like to get a brigadier slide or a 92A1 slide for the option of night sights/preference in dovetail sights. Does anyone know if there are compatibility issues?

Super easy to replace the arched mainspring housing and it’s cheap

Should all be interchangeable.

That's what I'm thinking, but I wanted to be absolutely sure before I spend a couple hundred bucks on a slide. Thanks.

>MAB P-15

Well that's interesting, I'd never heard of one. It looks nice, it's almost like a half-Hi-Power half-Ruby thing

Attached: VP Scene.jpg (1200x800, 481K)

It's probably time to fire your instructor, he sounds like one of those high speed/low drag faggots that is high on theory and low on effective skills.

The reason I say this is a 92FS is very nice service weapon. DA/SA is a matter of training and if you are new it is not a problem.

Are there any actual gunsmiths on Jow Forums ? Or even anyone who's done DIY revolver gunsmithing?

Gunsmith would cost more than it's worth, but it's a family heirloom. There are no replacement parts. People are asking nearly 2x what it's worth if I wanted to scrap one in poor condition.

Need to fix my revolver. How does JB-weld fair for beefing up contact surfaces in low-stress parts? I need a touch of mass on a sear and revolver arm, without being able to buy one and sand to fit.

I got it because I'm a fag about rotating barrels but honestly it's pretty gross. The SAO trigger is like 10 pounds and the recoil is pretty horrendous for 9mm. Basically feels like a direct blowback with insufficient slide weight.

I'm not a gunsmiff and I do as much DIY gunsmiffing as possible but I am not an expert don't listen to me.

imo JB weld is good only for crushing or sliding applications or applications where a huge amount of JB weld can make up for its poor adhesion. Things with sheering moment like a sear or revolver arm, things with abrasion, bending, scraping or extreme G forces like guns tend to break JB weld pretty quickly in my experience. I have used it to make ghetto repairs and build shims in some places on several guns, but it does come loose even in applications where it should do fine bonding to metal.

The only JB Weld basketball american rig I've not had to re-do is the mag catch on my Steyr L9A1, partly because it's tightly wedged in there now so it doesn't get much momentum bouncing, and partly because I haven't shot it a lot.

The shim I made in my 9mm AR has popped off several times and I've had to rebuild it each time, even with very good surface prep. But 9mm ARs are pretty harsh.

I am not an expert, take this with a grain of salt. As long as your botch job doesn't involve containing pressure or aligning the cylinder to the bore, the worst you can do is try and fail to build a permanent solution with JB weld, so might as well try. But probably don't expect a miracle imo bb
