What is a reason that some of the special forces wear the caps during their missions?

what is a reason that some of the special forces wear the caps during their missions?
is there any advantage they can take from wear the ball cap over the ballistic helmet?

Some people would rather be dead, instead of a vedgetable

1) Cause it's light
2) Cause they can

Looking cool is the biggest tactical advantage you can have.

Helmets are gay and baseball caps are comfy.

Less weight.

Shades their eyes way better

Because if you look like SF, the enemy won't fuck with you. They aren't idiots.

Engravings... Give you no tactical advantage whatsoever.

They think you are a recruiter for a mlb team, after reading about the thousands of Cubans who escaped poverty and oppression by signing a mlb team.

Have you seen the video of the Kurds ambush some Turks on that mountain ridge?
When red hadji quickly loots the green hadji he just slotted, he takes his MG and his cap
It is known by all that caps give a +1 to operating

Because neck strain from wearing a heavily decked out gucci helmet is a very real thing. Hell, just wearing a fucking large ACH and only Peltors is a complete fucking pain in the ass after a while.

I think it would do the opposite. How big of a PR coup would it be to have a dead SF team lined up for pics in the dirt?

Simple. Most ballistic helmets won't stop a 7.62, and if they do, you are still pretty much fucked. The concussion of the round hitting the helmet is enough to disorient you, putting you out of the fight or at least a few seconds. Furthermore, considering that small units operations is usually SF's ballgame, even taking a shot from close enough range for an iraqi to smack you in the head without having already knocked his socks off usually means that you would be in a bad situation to begin with. It is light, and extremely comfortable. Wearing a heavy ass helmet for long periods of time easily causes neck strain, and fatigue. Pulling most of this out of my ass, admittedly, but it seems logical imo.

That's why bump helmets are great. Good all around function

Fair point, bump helmets are definitely a great compromise. Can't mount an NVG or a Go-Pro to a ballcap (correctly), and at least prevent you from knocking yourself out on low-hanging doorframes and what not.

Yep. Ducking under shit while moving in a ball cap is a great way to get a concussion. Bump helmets can also host comtacs, a light, etc

Lighter, can maneuver your head easier, and ballistic helmets aren't always a guarantee. Ball caps block your eyes from the sun and spent brass. Just keep your head up or the bill will block your view.

Because regular forces (chump pogue suckers) are required to wear helmets. It's the same thing with beards.

If non-special forces were required or even allowed to go into combat with ballcaps and beards, OPERATORS would be shaving with straight razors every twelve hours and wearing full-face helmets.

Caps are quite good, they absorb forehead sweat, give your eyes good shade, the cap lets your head cool down because of the mesh, and any sweat gets wicked away to the back of the cap. If its your lucky ballcap you feel better in combat.

Because helmets fucking suck.
Even Opscores can be hot and heavy after a while, especially with heavy NVGs and other shit on them.
Sometimes the decreased weight and better situational awareness is better than protection.
Especially in specops where certain ops require you to be sneaky and swift and if you get into serious contact you are fucked anyways.

Helmets only protect against shrapnel and impacts so i guess that in certain situations they may decided that less weight and inertia are worth it.

The only helmets that protect against bullets only protect against pistol calibers and are so heavy that they can only be used for a few minutes like the famous Russian "Sfera" helmet.

But you look like a faggot wearing one. It's either all or nothing with helmets, this skaterboi shit is like buying a crossover suv. Either get a truck, or a wagon.

>Engravings
aren't cool. your point is invalid.

Dunno what you're on about, people wear ballistic helmets all day over weeks and can deflect even bigger projectiles to some point, like in an angle, stray or over large distance, shrapnel, junk flying around. They also have the habit of sharing a certain shape, easily recognize able, reducing the risk of friendly fire. SF may be trained enough to avoid a lot of that with situational awareness, but your average grunt is better off with kevlar, source! Almost every well equipped military since the fucking 1900s

BOI YOU BETTER BE JOKIN

Anything to be special

post vid

This

probably 7.62x54r too
there's another video of a very similar situation where a couple of marines are going up and down a wood ladder on to a similar mud compound and one takes a round to his helmet

Rednecks prefer baseball caps.
Since 90% of SOF units are composed of backwood rednecks, they wear what they're comfortable with.

>he doesnt get the reference
For fucks sake look where you are, lurk more newfaggot.

>90% of SOF units are composed of backwood rednecks
explain

Identification and culture. American are used to wearing baseballs cap when competing against others.

Like, literally everything in history disagrees with you

Lots of sof dudes are from free states, not cucked states.

Get the fuck out.

My guess would be its more comfortable and SF door kicking puts you in such a short distance from the enemy that there is far less shrapnel from exploives for the helmet to be practical and a straight shot at that distance would simply go through a helmet or cap so may aswell go for the lighter more comfotable option.
