No, this same posturing happens every 10 years or so.

It's two. So yes, we are.
Can someone give me a quick rundown? Purposely provoking Iran?
The Iranians need to understand their place in the world. They cannot be threatening Americans or British. If the US in the unlikely event were to invade and control Iran the positive would be that we would control China's oil supply
see
Sand Nigger.
No, Iran has fucked themselves.
The tankers have been hijacked or are being "escorted" to Iran.
This.
ebin
What are they trying to accomplish?
I don't think they actually know
National-scale suicide? In all seriousness, the IRGC is attempting to portray an image of strength after losing their tanker and having that drone shot down, but I can't imagine the British won't respond at this point. If the west lets them get away with this, I'll be surprised.
Where did the flag come from?
canal that pointy peninsula
In the last 2 months Iran has captured or destroyed about 12 oil tankers
They're both British, so no we aren't. Good luck, britbongs.
Could they just put a fucking canal through that thin bit of land that belongs to Oman/UAE? Or is that impossible?
Why can't the world let Saudi Arabia and Iran have that war the region has desperately needed for a long time? "We can't let the middle east become unstable." As if it was ever stable ever. Those two need to sort their shit out the hard way.
Oil and the US Dollar's dependence on it.
I want Iran to capture a Chinese tanker and see what will happen. Capturing British tankers is the best option for Iran because sanctions are close to creating a revolt inside Iran making it implode
Aside from the fact that the EU and Chinese economies rely heavily on exports from the region, it's generally in the best interests of the rest of the civilized world to make sure the Middle East's violence stays regional.
A distraction from problems at home, because evidently theocratic governments that go out of their way to provoke the global hegemon don’t do wonders for the economy.
It'll cost almost 2 Trillion to excavate that much mass to make a canal, and for what? As a sign of weakness for Iran?
'that little piece' is rouglhy 22 miles across, its rather mountainous and it will probably take decades to complete, and will be utterly pointless as it creates a massive bottleneck, and besides the 'threat' that Iran poses, sailing around the isthmus isnt that big a deal
@42083958
>failed in Syria
>let's try Iran now
can't see anything going wrong at all
>Oil and the US Dollar's dependence on it.
The US dollar is like Microsoft Windows. It's the standard because it's the standard, and there is too far much inertia to change. Oil has nothing to do with it.

That’s not that works here
>failed in syria
>syria is a fucked to death nation thats split in half.
>Oil
We haven't depended on imported oil since we learned how to get it by blowing giant holes in the earth. After that, North America became the main producer.
Confirmed, 3 tankers have been taken
MESDAR, STENA IMPERO, and LR2 POSEIDON.
@42084267
Still failed. Assad is still in power.
Well, here's hoping the Brits kick their shit in for this.
>provoke Iran
>hurr durr they're being hijacked
Why does Britain, Israel, Trump and Bolton want war with Iran?
>now secured Iran's reach all the way to Beirut and turned a pseduo-Arab ally into a full blown Iranian puppet
good job
LR2 POSEIDON belongs to Hong Kong, MESDAR to Liberia, and STENA IMPERO to Britain. I'm not sure the ramifications, but shit's gonna happen, I guarantee it
>/sg/ continues its campaign of retardation
Iran punches up and refuses to bow to the aggressors who have been fucking them and their people since the Anglo-Iranian oil company and operation Ajax. It may not be smart, but it is worthy of respect.
Bullshit. LR2 Poseidon hasn't been taken.
>LR2 POSEIDON belongs to Hong Kong
Good god, Iran, what are you doing? At least the Chinese might've sold them weapons. Is the IRGC trying to destroy the country or something?
Meanwhile, the President
Would Iran let European volunteers join them?
>war
It will be a short one unless they are stupid enough to put boots on the ground. And there is absolutely no political will to do that.
prev thread alluded to it, but it seems incredibly likely that they have it taken
>NOOOOO IRAN STOP DOING SOMETHING THE BRITISH STARTED RUSSIA DO SOMETHING MAKE THEM GO AWAY
They've released the Mesdar apparently
Tits for tat. One Iranian tanker seized at Gibraltar.
Link?
Wtf is asap Rocky?
>We're gonna end up going to war with Iran, aren't we
Mr. President...
What a foolish thing to do. I'm surprised, Iran usually knows how to act and most of the time does not go full retard. They're not retarded but recent actions are just idiotic.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to seeing Iran get their shit pushed in. I'm just baffled by how stupid they're being.
>YEAH KILLEM WAR NOW MIGA MIGA MIGA
And it will be glorious

Quack quack
Militarily, is America prepared for another war? Is Iran too much of a conventional threat?
Trump bows to blacks and Armenians
>Is America prepared for another war against a 2nd world nation with outdated equipment.
Militarily, yes. It would be absolute political suicide though. The public would be fucking outraged, by and large.
No they won’t.
Nobody in the UK has an apetite for a shooting war with Iran, we’ll just try to sanction them to death or at worst blockade them.
Militarily? Probably yes, everything else beyond that? lolnope
Assuming the US doesn't intend to invade and force a regime change, the conflict will be laughably one-sided in America's favor. If they actually put boots on the ground, it'll be a fucking meatgrinder, but the US would absolutely come out on top at the end.
>11 aircraft carriers
lol
I meant the US leaving the UK to dry.
turbobased and screencap worthy
How many 150kt bombs would it take to pacify Tehran.
Asking for a friend.
Will the UK invoke Article 5 over this?
lol
sure we will bud...
it begins
Yeah, there is gonna be a dust-up if Iran doesn't release the tanker and it's crew ASAP. They are trying to tit-for-tat for the Iranian tanker that the British seized near Gibraltar on its way to Syria. However, that seizure was to enforce UN sanctions on Syria for god-knows how many war-crimes and crimes against humanity, and is thus pretty legit. It's possible the Brits might be persuaded to quietly let the Iranian tanker head back to Iran if the Iranian's release the British one first. Frankly, I'm surprised that the RN or the USN weren't on hand to provide an immediate preventative kinetic resolution. If nothing is worked out soon, expect an raid to free the tanker and it's crew and/or strikes on Iranian coastal military targets. Escalation beyond that is contingent on Iranian dickery.
It's gonna be another episode where America gets BTFO by Iran
A full-scale war is something no one wants or would consider unless it was truly needed. Only way that would happen is if Iran nuked someone and they can't do that yet. Any conflict with Iran would be bombarding them from the sea and air. That is something the US, UK, and other NATO members (if they wanted in) could do with efficiency.
The goal would be to at the least knock out the IRGC's ability to terrorize shipping and at most try to convince the Iranian people to revolt as a republic against the Islamists who keep causing them trouble (the outcome of which I can't predict.)
Brits have aligned themselves with USA after the Brexit fiasco so they will be doing whatever daddy America wants.
Based on what? A tweet about something unrelated. Is that really the point we've reached?
dubs and tel Aviv gets nuked
>Frankly, I'm surprised that the RN or the USN weren't on hand to provide an immediate preventative kinetic resolution
They aren't looking to escalate. That's why.
It was EU sanctions, but still doesn't matter. You'll hear people say that Iran doesn't have to follow EU sanctions but that's horseshit. The UK seized the tanker in their territorial waters, which means the tanker was subject to their laws at the time. Iran seized these tankers in international waters, and that is just plain piracy.
A nigger mumble rapper that beat down couple honorary swedish citizens.
Brits dont have the naval numbers to be effective and at present no naval aviation
