Syria

How did they do it? I know they lost a lot of ground even now, but how did they turn it around? I get that the russians helped greatly with it but was that really all it took? Is air support and advisory help with some small scale ground deployment and SOF shit all you need to stop your country from totally shitting the bed?

Seems interesting will read now, thanks user.

Assad's salvation can be summarised as follows:

-ISIS overwhelmed by Western sir support.

-Massive Russian air support against other rebels, and the West generally unwilling to mount a confrontation with it.

-West generally leery of arming rebels with antiair weapons due to their Islamist links.

-Massive Iranian (and proxies, e.g. Hezbollah) ground support with fedayeen replacing manpower losses.

-Rebels undermining themselves with constant infighting as much as they were fighting Assad.

-Assad has more or less been able to play nice with the Kurds and avoided provoking a new front.

The main factor was the Russians...Zio-ISIS was operating at will, internal logistics, external logistics (the receiving of weapons from Zio-Colonies), bases, communications, oil smuggling, etc, etc...the Russians ruined it all, that was the major factor.

But other factors also played a role, Alawites being against a wall and having nothing to lose, Iranian and Hezbollah intervention, the apparent effective infiltration of ISIS with Russian (aka Chechen and Dagestani) spies, etc, etc...

But again, it was Russian bombing that played the major factor.

>Isis simply emerges at israel border at rebel area
>has its roots in for ages

Assad/Iran got saved by Russian blood and gibs it’s not a complex issue

Not an amazing victory, pretty embarrassing for Iran if anything given they couldn’t take down some peasants with AKs

>muh zio everything g
ISIS was a Russian front

ISIS was being carefully shepherded by the US towards Assad's garrisons and positions and were only defeated well after the Russian intervention in 2015.

t. JIDF

Russians died for Assad and the west took down ISIS

Oh, it's the usual Schizo-poster.

t. MIDF

I mean, that's not all, but is he wrong tho

Got "Accuse your enemies of what you do and are"?? Fuck off shill.

Assad bought oil from ISIS to finance them

oilprice.com/Geopolitics/Middle-East/Confirmed-ISIS-Sold-Oil-To-Assad-Turkey.html

>if you point out Assad and Iran got bailed out by Syria you’re jidf

You Muslim shills are way too sensitive

Bailed out by Russia*

they did it because USA just isnt what it used to be and neither is Russia
thats the truth nobody on Jow Forums will mention or acknowledge

If you are interested in how they actually in military sense managed to pull it off, it was basically Russians ready to get their hands dirty abroad to show off and cement their foothold in the middle east to have Gasprom counter the western plans for oil and pipelines trough the area, which was the whole cause of the war.
Syrians as are any arabs are retarded when it comes to modern warfare and went lone wolf with tanks, that is why you have countless tow videos from 2013 and 14
when russians stepped in, they advised the tankers not to go lone wolf, to carry less shells, to never EVER go without infantry support or without proper scouting beforehand
then they started to use tanks as they should be used, in urban areas, as battering rams
t72s had barrels too long so they either used 2 from afar at special angles, or they used 55s (with improvised armor) for fast driveby or flash appearances to draw tow crews then infantry (bolstered by mercs from former soviet union) did their part
then the syrian airforce did its job on the targeted area
one block at a time, they liberated villages, cities and provinces, while the russian airforce targeted supply lines and stashes
so called FSA moderate alqaeda was the most threatening target since they had more support and technology than ISIS so they got fucked the hardest in the entire war which they were paid and supported to win
Syrians themselves managed to put shit on their tanks to jam atgm missiles as well, the mighty mystery box
Then Assads amnesty programs started, which is how SAA got more manpower, with former alqaeda and 'fsa' soldiers now with a new patch started joining ranks, in addition to new soldiers volunteering into SAA from liberated towns.

So what do you guys want in this thread? A circlejerk how how strong Syria is? Because they were btfo until Russia swooped in and saved them. Sorry if it’s triggering

>The SAA may be rebuilt on paper, but it has only just begun its path toward becoming an effective fighting force that can successfully conduct operations without relying on overwhelming air support.
Who the fuck can fight a modern war without relying on overwhelming air support?

To piss off jews and their golem that it actually happened, that they both failed because of russia
i dont know how to simplify or narrow down the reason anymore
it shows, i remember threads on Jow Forums in 2014 about Syria and how gleeful everyone was that Assad was losing the war, just about when war in Ukraine started
Then both wars went against the majority of the posters in those threads and they ended, continued on Jow Forums where those posters called in 2 airstrikes on a faction that majority of Jow Forums was rooting for
Then trump won the election

The opposition were Kurds, ISIS and "moderate rebels". The West bombed ISIS and backed the Kurds and moderate rebels. The Kurds have a semi-agreement not to fuck with Syria and besides could only take over home ground plus some extra for obvious ethnic reasons. The moderate rebels turned out to be ISIS, not very numerous and/or weren't backed that well in the first place and then turned to ISIS (not to mention they were there to fight the regime, not be American puppets fighting ISIS and cockblocking the regime at the same time). Meanwhile Russia did more than just launch airstrikes and do training. Not to mention the Syrian state had a better army than a ragtag bunch of rebels in the first place.

There's this thing called peer conflict.

He's right though.
The SAA imploded over deaths, desertions, and defections. Iran sent proxies over and even they were getting their asses kicked. It was basically all over until Russia moved in and started bombing everything but ISIS with iron bombs. What elements of the population that hadn't left government control or were captured were conscripted at gunpoint. Previously labeled "terrorists" were now the glorious saviors of Syria, on pain of torture and death.
It's fair speculation that, had Obama not ignored his own "red line" over CW use, Russia might not have moved in, and the Syrian government would have collapsed.
Of course, there's also the question of what exactly they won. The social contract is gone, and so is the infrastructure. Government areas are run like small fiefdoms. The government has ceded sovereignty to Russia and Iran. They couldn't even take back Idlib, which reminds the populace of the revolution every day.
Syria is basically a failed state, and it's going to be a hellscape for at least a few decades.

Until ISIS beheading videos became viral all NATO countries blew weapons and funding into Syrian Rebel Groups, most of their tank force was destroyed by modern ATGMs provided by the West and Gulf Countries.

When Funding started to dry up, Rebel Offensives suddenly stopped too.
Only ISIS still kept pushing with Turkish Oil Money and Iraqi manpower.

The only quality post ITT

Thank you user
