The actual answer is firearm meme pages on facebook and instagram. They're mostly driven by Jow Forums and Jow Forumsweekendgunnit (and thusly Jow Forums again) culturally, but evolved a bit of their own culture and turned boogaloo into a thing. Now it's evolving into "big igloo", after some dude's boomer grandpa used his son's gun page to shitpost. Pic related.
Personally I prefer "Big Luau", because we'll all be wearing Hawaiian shirts and roasting pigs.

Additional factors such as miliary desertion related to being ordered to attack American citizens, potential international intervention (China, Russia, or others trying to get us with our pants down), and simple raiders/gangs of people with no political affiliation taking advantage of the bedlam who will loot and plunder will make life difficult for the overwhelming majority of citizens (97% of people in the revolutionary war) who just want to be left alone who will struggle to make things work. Add in other issues like racial tension and climate change and things could go sideways quickly.
For these reasons, people who haven't traditionally been prepper types are buying food, medicine, weapons, radios, armor, land, and other preparations so they can improve their chance of survival.
