>gets defeated by the inferior M48 in Vietnam
>gets defeated by actual WW2 tanks against israel

The kang tigger has to be one of the least efficient use of armor of all time.

Kang tiger was big and even the sides were decently armored. Fuck huge box turret too

Kang tiger was a BEAST.

that goes to the maus. just compare the maus to the IS-7

>pwned by every NATO aligned nation

>better than the King Tiger
>not enough armor not to die to Amerishart small bore guns
>nothing else was good enough to matter
>poor training and doctrine of tank crews
Says a lot when your good paper stats don't result in good combat stats.

Imagine making an "essentially a ww2 tank" in 1949

Difference between King Tiger and T-54 was that the King Tiger had no weak points: Its sides and rear were of equal thickness and not too far behind the front, which made the entire thing twice as heavy as a conventional tank. The T-54 in comparison has thinner sides and a much thinner rear.

To be fair to the T-54, it was always handed off to babysit retards who didn't know how to tonk across its entire career: even the USSR misused them when once trying to urban warfare I think Poland, decided they were no good, and relegated them to export use.

It was the T-54/55's perception as the budget tank for things not worth a T-64 that really damned the poor thing. It'll always hold a special place in my heart as the "generic tank" tank.

based, we use em to this day converted to APCs

The UFP of the king tiger was 150 mm at 50 degrees, turret was 190 mm flat. Meanwhile the rear and side was 80 mm flat. There is quite a gap between the effective thickness of the Tiger IIs front and rear/side armour

Also t54 has 79mm flat hull armour on the side and 60mm at the rear, so wasn't actually that far behind tiger II.

The reason it was so much lighter was just because it was a pretty small tank. IIRC russia imposed a height restriction on tankers because it was so small and cramped, so the high armour to weight ratio came at a price. Tiger II on the other hand was pretty fucking big with a lot of internal space, having an extra crew member and more space in the turret too.

Just call them what they are man, Arabs.

>Another odd but important change was the removal of the crew heater. Before the Six-Day War, Israeli recon units noticed that the Egyptians often left vehicles whenever they could, preferring to stay outside. The reason for that was only discovered later on – Egyptian troops were following the translated Soviet manuals for operating these vehicles literally. Unfortunately for them, the Russian instructions were written for cold Russian winter conditions and included orders to turn on the heaters, so the Egyptians did exactly that. The problem was that temperatures during the hot middle-eastern summers could reach 45 degrees Celsius, making it impossible to stay inside the vehicle for any long periods of time.

Are tanks ticklish?

mortarinvestments.eu/products/tanks-2/t-55-278#currency=USD

How similar is it to one of these?

Yes, the bottom of the track is the most ticklish spot

how do we even get spare parts for that.

we had more of them then we could get crews for initially. we equipped a couple of divisions and used the spare tanks for parts.
after the merkava 1 the tiran divisions were disbanded and some of them converted to APCs. these days we buy most of the spare parts from USA or manufacture ourselves depending on the part.

If you need thick armor in the sides and rear, you're not using tanks right. Most hits are going to be taken from the front in most engagements.

came here to post this. dumbass commies i swear
