Orwell, who was obliged by need to spend a few months more or less homeless, was acquainted personally with the way of life of a London "tramp" in the early 20th century. Down and Out in Paris and London was published in 1931, in which he recounts many of the difficulties and degradation suffered by the desperately poor. His observations on 'inceldom' are quite psychologically astute, and I've reproduced them here. Probably you'll find a lot of agreement with his words:

Tramps are cut off from women, in the first place, because there are very few women at their level of society. The following figures, publishes by the L.C.C. from a night census taken February 13th, 1931, will show the relative numbers of destitute men and destitute women:

Having no hope at all of securing a wife, a mistress, or any kind of woman except - very rarely when he can raise a few shillings - a prostitute. It is obvious what the results of this must be: homosexuality, for instance, and the occasional rape cases.

This is really interesting stuff. In Orwell's time, women mostly didn't work, and instead were expected to find a good husband to take care of them; this meant that the main thing they looked for in a man was that he was able to give her financial security. While men would gladly take a companion of a lower class to provide for, women dated, primarily, to improve their social status.
With women joining the market en masse after the 60's, the social structure as a whole started to change. Not only were women now able to provide for themselves, with the sudden increase in manpower, work became devalued as well, which means that workers were being paid much less for doing the same thing as before, and the males lost a lot of economic power. Now, both the man and the woman would have to work to keep the same kind of lifestyle the man would be able to provide by himself back in the 50's. It's funny to think that this is still pushed as some kind of "liberation" for women by feminists, considering that, effectively, they only traded being a slave to their husbands to being a slave to their bosses. Yeah, nothing spells freedom like being a wagekek - It's well known that this "revolution" was financed by the capitalists themselves.
Anyway, what happens now is that women's economic power has been consistently increasing, while the men's is decreasing. The higher social standing means that women get to be very picky: as they no longer have to worry about finding a good husband early in life to provide for her, they will just fuck around with the most attractive males they can find until they decide to settle down. Even then, however, they will still NOT "date down" economically - their husbands have to not only be attractive, but they also must be at least as successful as them.

Well, what about the young male who doesn't have good looks, but also has an ever decreasing economic power and social standing? He probably won't get to fuck around or experience love in his teens and 20's because he isn't attractive to women, who will consistently have better options than him, and at the same time he will have a hard time finding a wife later in his life, because he lacks economic power.
Of course, being rejected by women through your entire life has a powerful effect on the psyche, and it appears to be leading those males to feel alienated from society, which makes them care even less about working and improving their status. Why bother with going to college and then finding one of the increasingly rare good jobs when you are lonely and have no one to provide for? It's quite a nasty vicious circle. What interests me the most, though, is how this problem is being widely ignored by society. Our world has changed forever, and while normies will celebrate that women are more "free", they refuse to admit that such big changes have negative consequences, too.
This means that these young men feel invisible, isolating them even further. And you know what happens when people feel like they are invisible? Either they become incresingly depressed and drop out of society as a whole, or they force their voice to be heard the only way they can find: through violence. This problem is going to become a very big dealin the next few decades, mark my words.
