Why don't you just become an English teacher in Asia?

Why don't you just become an English teacher in Asia?

>easy af job and easy to get
>get enough money to live comfortably
>have plenty of free time to have fun
>great food
>great cities
>great culture
>cute girls

Attached: So, you want to be an English teacher, anon.jpg (2048x1519, 864K)

I dont understand any asian language

Not smart enough to teach English so obviously learning another language is out of the question.

Uninformed brainlet here
What do I have to do to become davido-kun

>Not smart enough to teach English
Neither are most English teachers.

>What do I have to do to become davido-kun
All you have to do is enrol in a Japanese language school. You can stay for over a year that way, more if you later decide to enrol in Japanese tertiary education like a university or trade school.

You can also work on a student visa so you'd be able to support yourself once your grip on the language was strong enough.

Oh come on noaw don't be absurd.

>asia
>great cities
even in fucking "glorious" japan the architecture and urbanism is fucking unbearable if you are not a rat-like person

I'm not a native english speaker. I think that is a requirement nowdays

>easy af job and easy to get
Need to have a degree and since every weeb or traveler wants the job, it's competitive. Not sure about it being easy as it's still teaching.
>get enough money to live comfortably
No clue if that's true or not and I'm sure it depends on where you teach.
>have plenty of free time to have fun
Again, no clue if that's true since you have provided zero evidence
>great food
Subjective. For a picky eater like me it's pretty shit
>great cities
Depends on the city
>great culture
50/50 depends on what you're talking about
>cute girls
No different than girls from anywhere else. At first it may seem great since they're different/new/exotic/etc. but that changes with time.

Not if you can somehow prove that your English is native-level.

I have done so, OP. It's thoroughly enjoyable.

>you will never be an english teacher in asia
>you will never be bullied by qt asian teachers
>they will never make you lick their sweaty feet after a long day of teaching
>you will never be mocked by a group of asian school girls while they step on you
>ching chong haha white engrish man how do we say this word go on monkey say it then lick our feet

Your average ALT (assistant language teacher) in Japan just fucks around and has fun with kids. The ones in high school just do what the real teacher tells them to do and helps out a bit during class.

There is a video on YouTube of a dude that did this and how his life is hell since doing this

Original

>can't function socially or hold down a job in home country using primary language

"Why not move to asia? XD"

Thanks for letting us know, that was very interesting.

I'm an ESL teacher in China. AMA

Do you need a 4 year degree to teach there? I feel like I'm competent enough to teach but I never finished my undergrad

Need is a funny word to use. Is that what the government says? Yeah.

But that doesn't stop thousands of people teaching here without one. China has no black and white laws just grey.

After becoming TEFL certified, how long does it usually take to find a job? Is there a waiting list of some sort? Or do you just have to know the right people?

I hear it is very easy to get laid. Is this true? What tier city do you teach in?
Are Asians tight?

You don't need to get TEFL certified lol, Just walk around in China being white and someone will offer you a job teaching English. They will literally walk up to you and say "Want teach English". Schools send out scouts (usually girls) to find foreigners.

It's not 2008 anymore, it's not as easy as it once was. If you're ugly in the west you're still ugly in China. I teach in T1

>Why don't you just become an English teacher in Asia?
Because you need a degree to become one, and getting a degree takes time and effort, which is something I don't have because I'm lazy.

How much do you get paid? Do they pay your rent? How much is your rent/monthly base cost including transportation, food, insurance etc. ? Basically what's left at the end of the month?

I feel like that's too serendipitous. Is there just somewhere you can go, look them straight in the eye, and tell them you want to teach English?

That's a bad picture.
The arm of right chick looks atrophied. Both have really cold stares and look like tired middle aged hags. May just be the angle but left's feet look strangely deformed with stumpy toes. Right has nice narrow feet with an elegant arch but her upper body looks terrible malnutritioned and hunched.

I wouldn't trust either of these witches. They're probably late 30s and bitter to the core.

Would pump'n'dump though.

I've thought about it. I understand just a tiny bit of Chinese after taking classes for a year. My biggest problem with the idea though is that you don't really make any money doing that, and you don't get any relevant job experience. Also I'm worried that I'm too old to really take advantage of it (24, so not ancient or anything, but everyone I know who did a teach abroad did it right after graduating college)

In retrospect, I kind of wish I had done it immediately post graduation.

The school pays my rent. My salary is $2200 a month. I spend $9 on food a day and 50 cents on transport. Money left over is probably $1000 a month cause I like spending money

Wow, that sounds good. How long does your contract go and how many hours per week do you have to teach?

Geez, that sounds great user.
I want to do it but I don't know if I could handle all the stress.
How proficient do you need to be in english? I can speak it well since it's my only language but I never learned the theoretical side very well in school.

Contracts are yearly, and are usually extended every year you want to continue.

You will be teaching little children, you don;t need to be good at English. You are there to be a dancing monkey in front of the children so parents think the school is fantastic hiring foreign "experts" to teach little wang wang.

The BIGGEST problem is swallowing your pride. Can you have a little 4 year old chinese boy saying "ha ha teachers knows is so big" and not want to kill yourself? If you can welcome to ESL.

That doesn't sound so bad. Thanks user

Why not teach at university? You get to teach mostly young women who will fawn over you. You have very little hours, which means you are free to start your very own aide business, which equals a great deal of pride.

Teaching in Uni is a good option. But the pay is much lower. About $1000 a month. You will get on campus housing provided to you. Usually one of the larger sized dorms all to yourself. But you will work 10-15 hours a week.

Teaching part time on the side is technically illegal but everyone fucking does it lol so that's a very good option.

Also while there's no law against it, don't fuck your students lol.

Is there some kind of age limit for you to apply to the job? I'm asking because I just started my PhD and will probably finish it by 36/37 and then perhaps keep that job as a resort if everything else fails.

Also have you ever had some bad experiences as in encountering racism or someone approaching you negatively because you're a foreigner. I'm a low key chill person, but I heard some concerning stories about nationalists in China.

Also how big is the apartment the employer provides?

Any strange occurrences in terms of food quality?

Thanks for answering all this by the way. Good stuff.

Oh... forgot one final and important question: I also speak German fluently. Do you think there's a demand for that as well?

There's no rules saying you can't teach English at that age.

Racism in China is different to the west, you're not going to experience racism like a black guy is. No one will openly say "Look at that fucking white guy let's go bash him". But the entire system of Chinese government is fundamentally racist to the core against non han chinese.

Landlords can refuse to rent to you, foreigners can only own one property, you can't ever get citizenship, police will always side with a chinese person over you.

Apartment is about 60m2

Food quality is fine

why aren't they wearing shoes?
Their feet will get dirty

>China is India tier of overpopulation
>Japan is dying and thinks the worst of foreigners
>N.Korea is risky even with the deal
>S.Korea is lead by a cult
>Msot other asian countries are borderline 3rd wrdl

It worked for Advanced. I wonder if he's still involuntarily celibate?

First, they only take natives, even if you are a fucking euro parlament translator.
Second, they look at you as lowest of low. There is no going up from english teacher, you will always stay at the same position.
Third, they will get rid of you after some years to get some new faces.

>they only take natives
I think this is true. I've studied English linguistics at uni so I'm sort of qualified I guess to teach English even at an academic level, yet they'd rather hire some random alcoholic bum if he's native. Makes me suspect the whole deal is just for show.

Their have their own people for grammar etc..., they only need english teacher for pronounciation.

Half of the people here have no basis of work ethic in the west, let alone the east.

I worked in an English call-center for 4 years, in which no yank nor brit ever took me for a foreigner. I can 99% mimic their accents. Doesn't matter since they want the passport, possibly looks and the self assuring feeling of entrusting their little brats to a genuine native I guess.
