What has Jow Forums done lately in terms of self-improvement?
>Have you started lifting? >Found a new job? >Started watching what you eat/drink/smoke?
Personally, I replaced my glasses with contacts and had some surgery done to lessen the presence of a nasty scar on my face. I also darkened my hair but the red is showing again.
No matter what happens, though, I know I will always be here. There is no getting off this ride, but at least I feel better about myself.
reminder that if you are trying to improve yourself you need to get the fuck off this board you fucking normalnigger
Blake Peterson
im not gonna lift until i have proper motivation. but i did lose 30 pounds over the last year, so now im not fat/chubby
Ryder Taylor
I still do not like to go outside, I have few friends and have little idea what to do with my life. I am just doing this for me.
Congrats, user! You better show off when you start for all the femanons. Remember, some bulk is okay with muscle. Some girls like skinny muscular but not me.
Jackson Diaz
You will die and nothing will matter , you will matter as much as the hobo down the street.
Ethan Robinson
What kind of surgery was it? Did it cost much? I'm having scars on my forearms I want to get rid of
have done month of sananga to improve my vision, it hurt like hell, but it was worth it, also growing beans
Camden Diaz
you will matter as much as you value yourself Nihilism is bullshit
Justin Flores
I stopped trying and turned back to drink. There is simply no escape so I may as well just drink myself stupid so I don't notice the unending misery as much.

I've started lifting and I'm looking for clubs to join to make more friends since I only have like 2 who barely talk to me anyway This is why you're not gonna make it
Eli Butler
are you that gril with the facial scar from your mom stabbing you? i thought we agreed you were keeping your red hair

Lost 100 lbs in a year while preserving most of my muscle mass with strength training Now I need to learn how to eat like a fat fuck again to bulk and get more muscle mass Not afraid to gain weight because I finally learned how to lose it The answer isn't purely cardio, that's just what retarded skin and bones treadmill fags do to eat anything they want. The most sane way is compound movements, squats, deadlift, and press. I have Jow Forums to thank, excluding the intermittent fasting/keto fags.
Ryan Baker
I started getting on the treadmill every other day since 2 months ago. It's nothing big, but it's better than nothing. I can jog about 12 minutes straight now before I need to walk and slow down, compared to the 8 I was doing before. On top of that, I have a set of dumbbells now. I try to lift at least 3 times a week, and I'm starting to feel the results a little. Believe it or not, exercise feels REALLY good when you do it right. I get this rush when I push myself harder and the right song is playing on my earphones. I get the chills, it's like a second wind. So weird, but I LOVE it. Started seeing a therapist too. At this point I've only been once, but I'm gonna keep going.
I didn't think I could do any of this, but hell, robots.... things might actually turn out OK.
You dont have a value in a world of billions , your life is worthless.

>my life doesn't matter broadly speaking in the grand scale of the universe >therefore i can't find a reason to exist within the context of my own existence Sounds like cope to me.

If you're lifting three days a week and doing cardio as well be sure to eat your lean mass in grams of protein at the very least. Speaking from experience, when I didn't eat enough protein for my activity level for two weeks I lost 5-10 lbs of muscle mass instantly. Speaking from experience, see Eat chicken, beans, beef, tuna, sausage, eggs, peanut butter (with whole grain wheat bread), whey, etc. Eat all of the protein you can get your hands on.
Lucas Rogers
Oh yeah, diet! I haven't actually been super strict with it, but I have cut fast food from my diet, as well as soda. I'll screencap this for later, user. Thank you kindly! Should I be eating 2-3 meals a day? With my weird sleep schedule, I sometimes skip lunch and get a bigger dinner instead, but something is telling me that's utterly retarded.
Samuel Ortiz
I eat 6 "meals" a day, 30g of protein each. 60g of that comes from whey, the rest from meat, eggs, legumes, cheese, etc. All that matter is CICO. Don't believe the meme diets unless you feel they help you adhere to CICO. I mean basically I'm on the Atkins extremely high protein diet or whatever, but I don't care, I just care about calories and protein. 2000 calories a day as a Manley at 5'7" and I can still get 180-190g of protein in. You just have to plan it and meal prep.
Lucas Murphy
I realized today that the years of bashing myself for spending time on wrong things has led me to form strong negative believes about myself that have become part of my identity. Now every time I try to do something more constructive than waste time on internet I get really anxious because it goes against two believes, that I'm a person who wastes all his time on internet, and that I'm a person who does not do the things he wants to do.
For a long time I have thought that I dont really have an identity, but turns out I have really strong and rigid identity and its shit.
Now I just need to figure a way out from this loop.
Gabriel Wilson
One can find reason to exist but it will only an illusion.
Camden Campbell
Just a few notes, from my personal opinion at least Theres no reason to hide a scar (unless it's something like an acne scar) Don't change your hair color for various reasons. The only people I've heard say red hair is bad on guys are guys on this board, I think it's cute. Two, I find it kinda weird to change stuff like that about yourself. Three, it's kinda like hiding something in my opinion Focus on your health, habits, and skills
Asher Torres
You should feel better about yourself user fornot giving up

>"there is no reason to exist" >find a reason to exist in the context of your life >"ok you may find one but THAT DOESN'T COUNT because it's an 'illusion'"
This year I: >quit smoking >learned enough programming to make a program that I can practice piano interval recognition on >stopped learning programming because I realized I should just focus everyday on getting my ged >since then I have studied math everyday on Kahn academy. I have over half of a million points >reached my one year milestone on lifting. Havent gained a single pound but I look better, am much stronger, have more will power, and energy. >started meditating every day again >have been reading history books and Ancient mythology books to understand the world better >studying French on Duolingo >drawing as much as possible >learning to sight read finally on guitar >quit soda and caffeine >running as much as possible. Still pretty much suck by a runners standard but by American standards im doing alright.
>the thing Im focusing on now is my insomnia It is the hardest thing to fix. My natural rhythm is so backwards from years of black out curtains, bright screens and staying up until the sun starts to shine through my window. I also have many food intolerances that make it impossible to sleep if I mess up. I have read a lot on the subject and made many attempts but Im still failing. Today I woke up at 4 pm because I put sesame oil in my good last night and it turns out that has a large amount of tryptophan in it which gives me headaches and insomnia. Its like Im torturing myself with sleep deprivation. Ill get it eventually but its no cup of tea.
Camden Evans
I did for a few years Then I realized I was way happier just being a drunk who didn't give a shit
Gavin Morris
Fuck yeah, dude! Sounds like you're on the right track. I wanna try even harder now. What all have you tried to fix your sleep schedule? I struggle with that, too.
>>studying French on Duolingo hows it going? ive been thinking about learning french becuase i was pretty good at it in middle school and it would impress qt's. i just don't know how to start
Luis Ramirez
Reminder the nihilists and people saying "Durr only normies want to improve" WANT you to be a loser because they're CIA niggers who know that a society of weak losers is easier to control than a society of strong willed people
Lost almost 40lbs over the last couple years. Very discouraging considering how much effort that took. I'm in uni again so it's hard to make myself eat, I don't handle stress well. Been saving up pretty nice though, 8k in crypto, same in ETFs, and a few k in cash. Got dumped by my e-gf last night and taking it hard, but got work tonight and next two nights. I'll lose myself in work and school. After school I will focus on gaining weight back. If I just get enough money and muscles surely someone will love me. I need to focus on religion, I miss the church.
Realize you need balance and give it to yourself. It is painful to know our faults but that is motivation to make improvement. You can do both internet and productive tasks so make sure you dont deprive yourself of relaxed pleasures. You should do the change gradually because your willpower is like a battery. You can use it up and then you just automatically give in to base desires. However you can train will power like a muscle. This is scientifically proven and I can look for studies if you like. Do a bit more of what you should be doing and a bit less every once in a while and before you know it you are doing the right thing more often than not. Push yourself reasonably.
Evan Thompson
Are you talking about the girl with the glasgow smile?
Charles Lewis
Not him but I'd like to see those studies.
Ethan Perez
wrong. a society of people who have nothing to lose is harder to control than a bunch of people who /made it/ and don't want to lose it.
Thomas Long
no she just had a scar on her cheek from her mom slashing her with a knife if i remember correctly
Isaac Roberts
>I miss the church. which one?
Alexander Wood
Started lifting, fixed my sleep schedule, working on improving my posture. Depression isn't as bad as it was now that I have some confidence in myself.
Parker Cox
Yea i'm talking about the same girl but i didn't remember the scar being on the cheek
That's true too, but losers don't make friends and therefore there is no community, and there is chaos, meaning the elites can control all the people as opposed to communities Ever notice how neighbors rarely talk? That was done on purpose
>be insignificant >find a reason to continue existing despite this >feel immensely better and not as insignificant >live a more fulfilled life in spite of your significance to "the universe"
I mean, I dunno, sounds better to me than giving up because "nothing matters"
Over last two years - Started cleaning my space, it's now reasonably tidy. - Got into minimalism and reduced the amount of stuff I owned, scanned a lot of old things - Started washing myself daily. Twice daily tooth brushing. Twice daily facial hygiene - Whitened teeth - Started 3x week exercise, cardio, weightlifting, stretching, will go 2x week if stressed - Started taking more walks around the neighbourhood to destress - Took up reading as a hobby, have read a few dozen books - Stopped smoking the devils lettuce - Sporadic work
Still no job or social life tho. I'm starting to care less about that though.
Best end yourself now then user
John Mitchell
Thank you. here is what I have learned that I can share really quick: >your naturally rhythm is determined by light and food mostly. If you stay in a dark room all day with no sunlight your body will be confused. Similarly if you dont eat all day and eat a lot at night then your body will adapt to when it thinks food is most available; at night.
>waking up at the right time is a game of will power at first and going to sleep is a game of organization. You need to have a good routine built up before bed in order to get tired effectively. No screens, no intense thought( I meditate but that is up to you), relax your self as much as you can ahead of time. Waking up at the right time is more important than going to sleep at the right time because if you mess up the former the latter will be near impossible because it isnt under your control as much.
>one neat trick is that your body naturally cools down during sleep so messing around with this concept can improve your efforts. Cold rooms are easier to sleep in, if you get hot and then cool off your body will take the cue and start feeling tired. You can create this effect by taking a hot shower before bed, excercising hours before bed(too close to bed and the opposite effect will happen), or eating a warm meal.
>diet plays a huge role in sleep so what you eat for your last meal and when you eat it is going to affect how you sleep majorly. You have to expirement yourself with this because it changes per person but obviously dont have a lot of sugar or caffeine before bed. Things like fruits should be more of a lunch or breakfast thing because they raise body levels of blood sugar.
This is a game of attrition so you will have to endure discomfort for an extended period but it is very very very worth it. Sleep is possible the most essential cycle in the body for mental health and it is made to tune in to the cycles of the earth.
I am taking it slow and I have a terrible memory but I enjoy it and it has never ever been stressful or taken up more then like 10 minutes a day. Id definitely say go for it. I can only say dumb phrases but I am making progress. It wont get you all the way but as a relaxed medium to get the basics all in your head it works perfectly. It isnt the best way to learn it quickly at all ,and it isnt very comprehensive but it is a great way to get started.
Cooper Gomez
I'm going to ask my oneitis on a date next week I'm going in it expecting to fail, so it won't be that bad when It doesn't work out.
One of the follow up expirements not brought up in these is that the guy had a bunch of people try to solve an unsolvable puzzle and time them then sent half of them home for a week and told them to try to fix there speech(less umms and what not) or eat healthier or some willpower based task. The other half he sent home with no instructions. At the end of the week he brought them back and the ones who had instructions could work on the puzzle for longer without reaching ego depletion(burn out) seemingly due to their trained will power.
Jackson Morales
Where did you get that image? I swear to god I've never shown anyone that face before.
Jeremiah Hill
tips for getting better at situps? i can only reach 20 in a row and it's a fucking struggle. im panting and sweating by 11.
don't. its horrible for your back, do planks or leg raises or farmers wallks
Kevin Torres
I've stopped eating for periods of time, usually 3 or so days. I wanna be thinner, so it's pretty good. But I mean most other people won't like it but I will so whatever.
>start feeling happy about something >actually smile about it >blackpill seeps in >think "No blackpill, I won't let you ruin my moment" >keep my focus on thing making me happy >happy feeling lasts longer than usual >tfw had first happy moment in years that wasn't immediately ruined
That'll slow down your metabolism. If you want to lose weight, the best way to do it is to eat healthier and/or eat smaller portions more often throughout the day instead of eating three large meals. Skipping meals consistently can also slow it down.
Daniel Nguyen
None of it matters much on the largest scale possible but on a personal scale it can. Satisfaction, contentment, self-actualization, it matters to me that I reach these states and the meaning of my life doesn't have to be judged farther than that.
Christopher Jones
>not as depressed >feel a litttle better about myself >not as autistic sinse working a job with a lot of human contact >trying to get my life around >still 26 virgin is there still hope for me anons
Sebastian Howard
How are you, just curious
David Price
How old are you I meant to say.
How old are all of you? I'm wondering if there's any point trying to self improve from being a long term neet with zero friends at age 27
Blake Rivera
Take a wild guess, pic is hint. I was homeschooled preachers kid, so was e-gf. I still pray and read my Bible but working weekend nights make it hard to attend regular services. I just speak with chaplain at work sometimes but I need a little more now. That sense of community and belonging, the love.
