You're no longer the hero who single handedly wins the war in the FPS you play. You're one of many faceless soldiers patrolling the desert, occasionally entering conflict, and watching your friends die to IEDs placed by the same fuckhole you never even see. Or you sit at a desk and do paperwork because you're in the US Air Force.
You got kidnapped by pirates on a pacific island? And you're an American citizen? Oh hey, a cell phone, lets call the US Coast Guard and watch the pirates get razed. Or just die long before that point.
My point is that games, as an escapist fantasy medium, are meant to be out of the realm of reality. Because reality sucks, at least for the people who actually play these games.

Tbh I want to experience other realities. I want to be a soldier driving a tank, or a paratrooper. Or I want to be a professional footballer. It sounds nice and probably lot more fun than what I'm doing anyway.

A lot of actually realistic military stuff (at least the exciting stuff you want to play, not the Airman at his desk or the guy cleaning toilets after pic related) is usually banned. Look up Six Days in Fallujah to see what I mean.
And I'm not very well versed in sports games, but aren't they generally realistic? I can get that being realistic, you don't want to add stuff that's not in the real game to the virtual ones, although adding drunken rioting following an important game would be cool.
