Because I never have the motivation to start. Even if I do, my interest slowly dies off within a week or so, and I'm back binge eating pizzas nearly every day.
I went on an hour-long walk
Because im too underweight
i have started hitting the gym about 4 months ago. Making slow but steady progress and i get out there instead of being inside, very worth it i must say.
this
anyone have advice
I make working out fun by listening to energetic music. When working out is fun, it becomes easier to do consistently.
used to do that but I got bored of all the "hardcore workout rap" compilations
not too much into metal what do you listen to
because my health is shit and I'm addicted to cigarettes anyways
im super autistic so even tho i like listening to metal while i work out sometimes i do liquid DnB for the atmospheric feel or japanese folk music to channel my weeb bushido.

What you are probably suffering from is low conscietniousness. It is one of the big five personality dimensions (a good way to think about it is how well you are able to enforce contracts you have made with yourself, or more simply, how lazy you are).
That's okay though, conscientiousness is the most malleable of the personality traits. A good way to manage it is to make a physical list of things you have to do that day and do your very best to hold to it. I use habitica and it seems to help me. Alternatively if you have reliable people in your life you should get them involved in helping you hold to your obligations.
If you're a neet, you have to work your way up to it. Wake up at the same time everyday at the time normal people are awake. There are numerous reasons why a circadian rhythm is good for your brain. Once you can do that, eat breakfast when you wake up, preferably something high in protein and fat. Then I recommend counting your calories (i use myfitnesspal). After you got those good enough, you can start working out. Just incremental steps. It's what worked for me anyway. I can now squat 200 lbs and bench 140 lbs. While I know it's not good yet, I've gotten into the habit quite reliably by now and it's a hell of a lot better than what I was.
where do I find willpower and motivation to start and keep at it
I work out a couple times a week I just don't find lifting that fun but I do try to keep at it.
Started 2 years ago.

I meant have as in things that you have identified as being beneficial to you but you are reluctant to do. You have a goal, and then break it into steps to achieve the goal
For example:
You're a neet, so things you may want are:
1) stop having crippling social anxiety
exposure therapy is the recommended treatment for anxiety so
-step 1) talk to someone online for about 5 minutes per day (when comfortable move on)
-step 2) talk to someone irl for about 5 minutes per day
-step 3) some other challenge until no longer a problem
2) work out so I stop being disgusted with myself and hurt everywhere
-count calories
-work out three times a week
-add things as you see fit though this will probably be all for this one
3) get own residience
3a) become employable
-acquire valuable skill
-learn skill online x minutes per day until adequate at it
b) apply to jobs
-apply places
-if not working, self-reflect on what the issue is.
stuff like that
Because I'm body-positive and can appreciate my inner beauty.
Im always thinking about doing it but then i found out that i either have other more important responsibilites or im just too concentrated on my video games. Usually its the videogames
Because it would mean preparing myself for the last missions
You gotta make it as routine based as you can. If you're doing it at home, have something playing in the background. I go into the basement and watch livestreams/anime until I hit 70 minutes on the stationary bike personally. I found it also helps to have specific exercise days in the week.
i broke my fucking toe
I get the motivation to start (counted cals for a few months, lifted on and off for years) but lack consistency
I don't want to risk people looking at me
drop the videogames competely srs. playing vidya was the worst decision in my life
if you literally can't, swap your graphics card with one of your friends who has a shittier one
>doesn't know getting basic lifting equipment at home becomes even cheaper than going to the gym after a few months
Do light exercises-stretching.
I can't even talk to people on omegle through webcam cause of crippling anxiety
wut do
Today was cool off day. Going to the next day.
If you can afford the equipment then you can make it as reclusive as your house allows. I am very private about my exercise sessions personally and I'm not even doing it to lose weight or get "gains" exactly
I have been lifting for 6 years and I am still here.
A robot is a robot for life, lifting doesn't change SHIT
post pics tho
hope you aren't one of those DYEL faggots
in that case celltech.gif
I am on holiday right now, but hope to get away from my lard enabler parents on my summer internship and get into fitness habits over next couple of months.
Good luck, OP.
Because I had better things to do like not work out
huh, that's kind of weird. Usually you can maintain a routine if you do it consistently for a couple months - a year. You have to do it everyday though.
Did you do it dutifully everyday?
Facebook-tier thread OP. You're not really adding any content, just bragging about doing something mundane
I lift 3-4 times a week and do cardio 3-4 times a week as well. Free weights only.
working out probably not but the cals thing I did every day for every food
I think the 3 months makes an habit thing is a bad meme tbqh. it requires constant willpower
>celltech
You're either a really oldfag or just a plain newfag larping as an oldfag
No it doesn't. My 24/7 gym is 19.90 a month. The cost of a squat rack and the weights alone not to even mention the extra space required for it would never turn profitable.
It would be nice though.
Literally no one cares what you do at the gym as long as you don't bother other people t. 4 years of lifting
>You have to do it everyday though.
You absolutely don't.
I'm still debating whether I should do legs today or just an hour of cardio and legs tomorrow. My legs feel about 80-90% recovered so it's not about laziness.
I'm a newfag but I lurk on the misc which is stuck in memes from 2005
I do and have for a year almost everyday. My anxiety makes me feel like shit having to go to the gym and be in public. Everytime I go I'm forcing myself. I've been approached a couple of time because I looked sad and it made me feel awkward. It doesn't make me feel any better working out. Sure I'm "bettering myself" but why? Whats the point anymore?
for yoruself
do both, just work out first thing in the morning. Then you wont feel guilty playing.
I do, its one of the few things i enjoy anymore
good job bro keep forcing yourself to go. the goal I guess is feeling manly and ultimately going out in the world and conquering your fears and building a family.
trust me you feel like shit when you stop working out.
>He doesn't get his membership dues reimbursed by his health insurance program.
Been doing for about a year now. Feelsgoodman.
On another note, how do you do squats w/o giving yourself sciatica? I did it once in November last year and stopped doing squats for ~2 mo (Feb-Mar) to give me time to heal (which was several more months, mind you.) I started squatting again in April and I'm starting to feel the sciatica come back on. Am I destined to not have nice thighs?
If you're not motivated you're not motivated. No one else can give you motivation. There are little tricks you can use like tracking your progress so you get the sense of improving and don't want to "lose your streak" when you start doing well.
Or go on Jow Forums and browse the fat people hate thread. That can help.
I listen to those hour long EDM mixes because they have a constant high BPM without pauses in between songs like a regular album. For example:
mixcloud.com
podcastgarden.com
mixcloud.com
You're supposed to listen to music that has around the same BPM as your heart rate, it's actually been scientifically proven to improve performance. I don't really listen to this "mainstream" EDM stuff outside of the gym but it works great for that.
Do you stretch properly?
Women will still hate me for existing and working out to live longer seems counterproductive to what I want at this point.
this
squatting is like running. Its one of those things you CANNOT do until youre ready. But once you are its amazing. You need to work on mobility and flexibility first. If you cant sit in a 3rd world deep dquat for 10minutes without pain you arent ready to squat a bar yet.
>If you cant sit in a 3rd world deep dquat for 10minutes without pain you arent ready to squat a bar yet.
Bit of an exaggeration. I can squat 140kg with my ass only an inch or two above the ground and my legs get tired after about a minute of sitting in that position.
Probably but i air on the side of caution when it comes to Low Back stuff. Better safe than sorry.
I can't do it either user. It freaks me out. But worst case scenario, it's some random you'll never in your life see again. If you can just talk to them it's fine.
But onehe is cancer, good luck getting anyone that isn't a masturbating penis.
I'm am worried about bothering other people though if I take too long on some machine or forget something.
I completely agree with the mobility and flexibility btw. It's very important and the way to start is not by squatting weight. Most people who haven't exercised regularly can't even get into a deep squat without their heels lifting off the ground.
Practicing flexibility every day until you reach a deep squat without any weight is something everybody should definitely do before getting under the bar. And ankle mobility.
On a side note it's much easier to maintain a balance with weight on your back, so if you're struggling at first you can try holding onto something or holding a weight in your hands until you git gud.
how do i eat more? Thats the only thing stopping me from working out because i always feel weak and cant lift because i literally dont eat enough. How do force more food in? Whats the best to eat thats really calorie dense and will make me gain weight?
I'm a lazy pos, I lost all the weight 2 years ago and now I'm close to being back.
Well that's easy to solve. Machines are only for the elderly or physical therapy/rehab.
By "bothering people" I meant bumping into them, being obnoxiously loud, not looking around you etc. People don't give a shit if you leave them be.
How the FUCK does anyone have this problem? I have no problem staying under 3000 calories which is about maintenance for me when I pay attention, but it's all about self-restraint. How does one struggle eating MORE?
>Most people who haven't exercised regularly can't even get into a deep squat without their heels lifting off the ground.
100% agree or their knees buckle and wobble inwards and i cringe like crazy.
>so if you're struggling at first you can try holding onto something or holding a weight in your hands until you git gud.
agree
IN ADDITION TO WHAT YOURE ALREADY EATING NOT INSTEAD
Drink a glass of whole milk with all 3 meals
And before bed eat a few spoonfuls of peanutbutter
I have an eating disorder, i can't bring myself to eat more than the mere necessary to stay alive thus i can't spend energy on lifting
Went to the gym for the first time since moving to my new apartment today. Got hella mires from a 9/10 Hispanic gym rat. She started doing this routine right near my bench that involved bending over and stuff.
But at the end of the day I'm too afraid to get a grillfriend so I'll continue to shitpost on r9k instead :D
How about you man up and eat more.
