My phone is a one-time $150 purchase with $50/month for data and cell. That is NOTHING compared to the cost of actual living: rent, utilities, gas, car payments, food, misc expenditures total at least 1k per month every month as long as I'm alive. Owning a smartphone doesn't mean you're not poor.
By "socialism" I mean European/democratic socialism like the Nordic countries and Germany where taxes on the richest allow the entire country to live better than the U.S.

Its true, back in hunter gatherer days finding sustenance gave people an adrenaline rush. Once they were satisfied they could sit back and relax, but these days all our food needs are met which puts us in a mental rut having to lave away for things our brains don't really need.
