How much time off do you get too? How much free time do you get? What's your work week like? Is it Mon - Fri like most other work weeks, because my Mom's boyfriend has been in HVAC for years upon years but he's been working Mon - Sat for a while.

yeah the trades can be rough depending on what kind of work you get into. doing construction sites can usually involve lifting decently heavy shit throughout the week. you will also spend a good amount of time crouching or being on your knees which doesn't feel great. lots of people you talk to who've been around a while have had knee/shoulder surgeries. but most people you meet drink and smoke a fuck ton which is a sign they don't take care of themselves. if you take care of yourself you can be alright

i work 4 10 hour days from mon-thurs and friday is a makeup day if it rains during the week. we also get overtime offered if it's available (if you aren't doing a trade that is inside then the elements will fuck you so if you can't be missing work due to cold weather or rain and shit then go for something indoors)

every wagecuck job where you work at least 8+ hours will drain you of your entire day no matter what, so the 4 10 hour days is great because you get that third day as a weekend rest day. having done 5 8's i'd never do it again because getting that extra day is a life saver. But if it's too hot/cold out we will swap to 8 hour days to not be out for too long.

i am in the sheet metal trade which can either be duct work inside or doing siding on commercial buildings (which is what i'm currently doing). you said your moms bf is in hvac which means he is a sheetmetal guy. you can get roped into working really really long weeks if your job needs to be finished by a certain date but sometimes that stuff is optional. though beware if you decline working too much you'll get laid off.

the unemployment you have to apply at a bunch of jobs (to prove you're trying) but never get hired (easy enough to arrange)

the SSI, no idea how you convince them you're disabled. Legitimately having a medically verified debilitating mental or physical disfunction (like autism) helps though.

having some kind of supplementary incomes (that doesn't surpass a certain amount or you lose welfare) also helps.

I think I'd just need to find a way to not get wiped after 8+ hours of work, regardless. The key might just be that I'd never be too tired for music.
