Have you ever taught yourself something from scratch?
Have you ever taught yourself something from scratch?
Taught myself decent handwriting. No experience with calligraphy, just hated having to read shit handwriting for notes.
Using photoshop to make my meme images extra funny.
Basically all my creative writing skills are self taught.
I taught myself German and after 18 months I'm almost fluent. I just used some free websites and bought a few books
I taught myself if you draw a circle, then draw a square so the inner sides are touching the sides of the circle, then draw another circle so the 4 corners of the squarw are touching the inside of the new circle, the second circle is exactly twice the area of the first circle. Assume circle 1 radius is 1, then area is pi, draw square and new circle, circle 2 radius is square root of 2, thus its area is 2pi.
Not a mathlet, but a diagram would be nice.
Also, that's a neat fact.
Why German? Just curious
Yeah. I used to get problems in math class that were only supposed to be solved with the next day's lesson, but I sometimes solved them. I came up with a couple rules and theorems completely independently.
Welding. BBRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ etc.
I learned the cyrillic alphabet and its pronunciations in a weekend.
Because if radius is 1 and we use Pythagorean theorem to find circle 2's radius. 1^2 + 1^2 = c^2 --> 2 = c^2 --> c = square root of 2.
1) I like Germanic languages, and naturally, German is the mother of them
2) German is the most commonly spoken language in my continent
3) It's not easy like Spanish, but it's not hard like Japanese. It's a challenge but it isn't to be laughed at either
4) English is based on German (most common words are from German after the Anglo Saxons invaded 1500 years ago) and learning about those roots is cool
>tfw had an easier time learning german, russian, and even polish than I did spanish
I could just never get around to learning that language.
I've heard that before. It's theoretically pretty easy for English speakers but a lot of people still can't get their heads around it
3D modeling so I could make better mods for TES games. My skills as a 2d artist are shit despite years of trying, so it's nice to be able to create something decent for once.
Well I am an anomaly then because English is my native language.
internal investigation in 3...2...1
I keep trying to get better at math but I'm not sure if it's because of my low IQ but i keep having issues with algebra and calculus
Welding. Though I did have a bit of prior experience.
I had started teaching myself a few months before I was to start a new job, and I just prayed I didn't melt my fingers together or char broil my wrist the whole time I was doing it. I ended up fine luckily.
What was your process for acquiring vocabulary? Learning grammar is tedious, but doable. but the amount of words to learn...
.huhh??? what u talkin bout
1. bought a vocab book of the most common 5000 words. went through it and highlighted all the ones I didnt know
2. wrote down every word that i read or heard on more than one occasion, or that sounds simple/common
then I just picked 50 of those new words, and went through them every day for a week, and a new 50 words every week
