I can see why China is pushing so hard in Africa now. So many business opportunities. The Chinese in exchange for mining rights (74.9% of Mali exports) could provide the building of water ways and what not to help develop the land. They can also provide military or PMC security to protect the buildings and works.

Fishing farming is sustainable and renewable. This isn't. There are more people than fish in that pond. The math doesn't add up.
And to add, the people of Mali could then use this opportunity to develop proper education systems. They could then INTELLIGENTLY take back their full mining rights through violent action, or sensible negotiation if possible. This is long game type shit though, like a century or two. Maybe more.

This isn't sustainable at all. They are lucky they are not destroying a natural resource. The specific fish in that pool must spawn near the end of the dry season. It is a huge fucking coincidence. In any other circumstances the fish would be gone in a year or two.
I wish I could be this happy with just having fish.
