Tell me what this Era of the Internet was like
Other urls found in this thread:
all the music from there was 128kbps shitty rips. you could only really find songs that were huge mainstream hits, though the tech advanced fairly quickly
Using KaZaA was a little like this
12 hrs to download the new trailer for the two towers
Pretty good. Downloaded lots of porn, anime and music through p2p. Kazaa was dope but I prefered dc++ the most.
Fucking windows
Ich singe bis der Tag erwacht.
Literally every download there had a virus embedded on it. Good riddance.
found a lot of cool songs due to them being mislabeled on kazaa
Digital theft. I downloaded myself a brand new honda civic.
try to download child porn, get music
try to download music, get child porn
very wiiise people
no normies shitting up my tubes
My fellow Americans, I would like to remind you once again that I did not have sexual relations with that woman.
Trying to download trailers for MILFhunter vids which would take about a day, so you'd constantly preview the download to jack off to.
This was amazing for downloading anime
Actually free.
All the stuff on the "dark web" was on the main web, and files were spread openly about all sorts of illegal and dodgy shit.
kazaa was a shittier limewire.
Downloading music and porn at a blazing 7kbps (on a good day)
Had to leave my 100MB download for Gunbound on overnight
Had to use special software to download files that took more than 2 hours to download because my dial up internet would automatically disconnect every two hours, and if you get disconnected while downloading a file it would cancel the download
You're the guy who downloaded stuff like
>Smash_Mouth-All_Star.mp3
>6kb
Only if you were an idiot would kazaa fuck up your computer
The real thing I miss is the shockingly numerous methods of downloading.
Wild West
Yeah, we have less choice now. Sucks.
Eltonjohn.mp3.bat
Shit. Kazaa became popular when Napster got BTFO.
i remember i used to wake up in the middle of the night to sneakily download stuff and throwing my blanket on the computer to stifle the dial up sounds. also one time me and my brother wanted to watch constantine with keanu reeves and when we sat down to watch it it was a crazy gang-bang video with like 3 girls and 9 dudes. my brother's gay now and i wonder if the shock of that contributed to it...
On Kazan I used to download regular movies. Open them up and find out it was actually a shit eating nigger porn scene or some guy being killed. Etc. It was the Russian roulette of downloads. Also took forever. I hated when I spent like 2 days downloading a movie only to find out it was some dude eating a shitty asshole
I remembered the name of the software too, hell yeah
no sjws and political correctness
they have ruined the Internet forever
I also miss the 'tude that people online used to have. I think the biggest change for the worse is now passive people online are. It went from "I'm doing what I want, fuck you" to "please stop the government doing bad things :(".
who here /audiogalaxy/
I remember my brother telling me he once downloaded a porno and it ended up being a video of a guy getting hit in the head with a shovel or something like that. I never got anything like that though, guess I was lucky.
Never forget previewing your porn videos over and over and trying to jerk it to the first 12 seconds of a video
Aim and Livejournal was life. Normies didn't really flood the internet until facebook. There were local message boards about music or whatever with like 100 users, but they were super active. Peak internet was around '05/'06 after we got bittorrent, youtube, wikipedia etc. We had everything we have now without the normie influx from myspace and facebook
Normalfags in general were bad for the web. I was talking about the kind of free information we used to have on the web and people even my age were shocked that bomb making and hacking instructions were freely shared.
like comment and subscribe if you hate normies too.
reeeeeeeeeeee
Don't forget to ring dat bell!
Yeah, the culture of the old web, but the infrastructure of the new web. And all the JS bloat and tracking hadn't turned up yet and you could still browse the web without 16GB of RAM and two i7s running at full capacity.
And somewhat related, Jow Forums's anti-bloat non-botnet search engine/index of sites.
wiby.me
Yahoo chatrooms were great too, particularly when webcams became more prevalent. I used to stay up all night camfucking girls from America/Canada. Good times, man, good times.
Fuck, I'm still trying to remember the first file-sharing program I used. I know it was right after Napster got fucked, but it was before Kazaa / Morpheus & Limewire, I remember that much.
The problem was that all of these programs were eventually shut down but there was a brief boom period where there were a shitload of copycat file-sharing programs....that hardly had any traffic on them. And then, just like that...that form of open file-sharing just went away and now you have to be on a peer-to-peer network.
>Tell me what this Era of the Internet was like...
refreshing the money tree page in neopets over 56k internet and hoping for something free
I like the recent change of philosophy in what gets moved to Jow Forums
there was one, not winmx, that had a bunch of japanese users and it was awesome when i first into japanese music in 2003/2004. i think it was soulseek.
