Anarchism will not be successful if we do not prevent any counter-revolution done by reactionaries, and the best way to prevent it is with a dictatorship of the proletariat that'll return the wealth and means of production to the workers.
After all the reactionaries are dealt with, after all the imperialist powers are effectively destroyed and replaced with revolutionary governments, after the entire population has been guaranteed with food and shelter, THEN we can achieve communism/anarchism by dissolving the government since it no longer needs to exist.

It transformed a completely broken and decimated shithole into the fastest growing nation in history AND the 2nd largest superpower AND first to reach and come back from space in less than half a century, and after the biggest world war that destroyed most of the infrastructure on its European side nonetheless.
It has worked marvelously, but after the death of Stalin, revisionists took office and changed the worker's paradise in the works into a state capitalist society. It fell because the US government has indirectly sabotaged with its economy and staged the elections to make sure it says dead, and twenty years later in an ironic twist of fate, they're crying about Russian interference in their democracy.

Stalin can't really be fully absolved for the famines, and Mao proves that these things are possible under such a system. Stalin was a paranoid Georgian man who loved fucking with ethnicities. His contribution to the state and the war were no doubt great but his social policy left a lot to be desired. I really don't fall for this collectivism meme, it's why I prefer to identify as an anarchist. I think the state, in it's reduced form, should serve only for the individual, not the other way around.

I've got some ideas of how a libertarian socialism sort of system could work in current society but that doesn't change the fact that my ideal version of society is anarchist. By the collectivist meme I was referring more to it as a social idea, serving the state and the eradication of the individual seen in system like that of the Khmer Rouge, these are of course extreme examples but I think it's something that should be avoided.
I think the USSR would've gone a lot better in establishing socialism if Lenin had survived or Trotsky had taken power, I feel Stalin, despite what he did to make it a super power, started the beginning of the end for the USSR.

If the Soviets had not annexed Karelia, the Germans would've moved through Finland and attack Leningrad from front and back, thus leading to the USSR's downfall.

Trotsky has been too hot-headed and stubborn to lead the Bolsheviks. Had he gotten power instead of Stalin, he would've rushed the country into war with Nazi Germany instead of thinking critically and accelerating industrialization, and he would've hopelessly lost and Churchill would've been laughing his fat ass off.
Stalin led the USSR to survive the biggest menace to exist on this Earth while still coming out prosperous. Well my point is the USSR was very far from any kind of perfect socialist state, and I really don't think Stalin was in a rush to fix that. Trotsky was indeed very war-hungry but he was the only one actually pushing for the dictatorship of the proletariat, he also wanted to spread the world revolution, something Stalin was only interested in so far as it served his ideals.
If you aren't knowledgeable in the subject research the Cambodian genocide, it shows the dangers of the extreme of this kind of ideal.
We live in a post industrial society, the worker and the farmer are no longer relevant. The few jobs that really remain for human workers are shitty office jobs and the arts. founding a revolution on these things today would be unrealistic.
