Since this is a cardio thread,
As someone who mainly wants to focus on building muscle, but also wants to increase stamina; how should I run?
Usually I'll just walk 5 minutes on the treadmill, run 2 minutes or so at a time at a high incline, 6ish miles an hour. Try to do that at least 8 times then cool down by walking again.
Or I do my warm up walking, sprint half a minute (near my max speed) at a pretty high incline, wait a minute or minute and a half and do that again. I do that at least 8 times.

Is this decent for someone whose starting out? Should I focus on sprints, or should I focus on increasing my speed running for a few minutes at a time? I've always read sprints are better than any form of long distance, not that running 2 or 3 minutes would lower T like actual long distance does.

Do HIIT which is sounds like you’re kinda already doing. Just add more interavals. Get on the treadmill and walk for 90 seconds then run for 60. Do that like 5 or 6 times

2 min speedwalk, 3 min run, back and forth for 15 minutes. Then do 3 and 5. Then 5 and 8s. Then straight 15 with 5 off.

I primarily bike:

>you don't have to worry about the gym being open
>you don't have to worry about shitty equipment/full squat racks/missing barbell clips
>you get to go see cool shit

you get good at cardio. Honestly for either one stretching is the most important.

You shouldn't overthink and do what you enjoy doing. The only rule of cardio is that it should be a habit that you do daily until you die, the specifics don't matter.

Personally I like boxing/muay thai sparring to break a sweat, running for endurance.

I do pplpplx and run for 12 minutes on the treadmill after lifting. Just maxed the speed at 10mph so I'm going to start increasing the incline now.

How fast does your treadmill go? Mine maxes out at 10mph and I feel like I'm going to fall off. It's a small treadmill though.

I did that last year: focused on running and cycling and did not do any lifting. Don't do it. My running suffered a lot as I became injured a lot. I never had a running injury before last year. I started lifting again and have not had an injury pop up again.

I repeat: DO NOT DO CARDIO ONLY. Do them both. Each complement each other.

If you literally nothing but run you will end with the same result unless you eat too much and still stay fat. There is no other outcome. You dont get ripped and muscular just running. You have some underlying muscle from life and toned legs with no fat. Look at anyone who runs casually or long distance for sport ots the same fucking result. Even top running athletes just look like fit people and they probably lift some weights.

I usually run or use a rowing machine after each workout day.

I do cardio and don't lift. My stamina is getting better everyday and now I barely sweat when going to the bakery everyday (to get shit for my mom and grandma, not me). Also weight loss is easy if you do 1h of cardio every day.
