I decided I would get fat 2 days ago and joined this board as a way to help. I’ve been through a shit ton of threads and watched a bunch of YT vids and there’s so much info I’ve gotten discouraged and have no idea what I need to do. It’s especially confusing when everyone says “Do X it’s good for you” then a new group of people say “X is fucking retarded do Y instead it’s better”.

You're not even that bad off, you could probably get good results by the summer time. Just do a full body workout something like Stronglifts, or do a PPL. It really is just a matter of preference. And you should try to slowly gain weight like 5-10 pounds.

Just pick which days of the week for a muscle group (back, chest, legs, biceps , etc)
Then pick 4-5 exercises for those groups and do them for that day, eventually you’ll learn your body and what your goals will be for yourself.
Or better yet have a goal and plan a workout around that.
For example learning how to do a muscle up, then find excercises that complements towards that goal.

Pick one. Read the associated information. Check youtube for form on the exercises (alan thrall is good for this despite his reddit tendencies).
I'd look into cutting in your case. Find a bmr caculator, eat 20% lower than that. Download myfitnesspal if youre lazy and record EVERYTHING you eat/drink

Lmao Apu you aren't even in a bad place.... Just eat a bit above maintenance and start ppl (assuming aesthetics is your goal). Do cardio and abs too. You need to change your diet and stick to a proper lifting program. You'll get in decent shape by summer if you start from tomorrow (you won't be Hollywood/bollywood level aesthetic but you'll be in a far better place than you are now)
Just grab your bag and get out of the door and get to the gym. Just go to the gym.
If you have a friend who lifts do what he did. I strongly recommend SS before moving into barbell medicine’s stuff, but at the end of the day even just doing some dumb brosplit bullshit would be far far better than nothing. Just get out there.

Read starting strength to learn the form and the mentality. Do not believe everything.
Go on The Barbell Medicine and read the basic guides, if you want subscribe to tier podcast and gets some mor bits of information every time.
Go on Craigslist now and get a rowing machine for 150 bucks and start now at least rowing 15 minutes a day for no less than 1 month. Possibly increasing to 30 min.
