True. But in that incline leg press, you're pretty much locked and guaranteed to get hurt if you do overdo it. In squats, you can ditch the barbell or have the cage save you.

Machines let you move foot position around to Target select muscles and are great for widow maker sets and drop sets. You can also go harder more often without quite so much injury risk. Certainly a great addition to other leg work or as a main compound if you're injured.

Recently I've noticed a guy egolifting on pretty much every lift where you could support a great deal of weight even as a dyel, so he's been crazy about legs, and that machine seem to really do it for him, 1/8 of a rep and all. Yes. Use the same weight as 8 reps and so 15 reps. You might need to pause for a second or two at the top but 8 reps isn't enough.
What to do in this situation? Just never lock out your knees I get that but we all do it. Try rolling off the machine?
