>why do people keep getting raped in resorts?
>why do people keep traveling to these shit hole countries
>when will they learn?
>Is travel just a meme?
yes, it absolutely is. i never understood the appeal, personally. it's just some overhyped normie shit, i can't imagine how any introvert would seriously want to go travelling.
most normies do it just for the status symbol, to take photos and get facebook likes.
>shit, i can't imagine how any introvert would seriously want to go travelling.
Personally I find the idea of going somewhere new appealing, since it represents the opportunity for me to meet new people who don't know how much of a loser I actually am. But of course the realistic part of me knows that I'll always be a loser no matter where I go.
Why not travel to an ok country, why do they always have to go to some shithole?
>the opportunity for me to meet new people
>appealing
you sound like an extrovert
how many people personally know you?
how many millions of people live in your country?
take the first number and divide by the second, multiply by 100... now, subtract that from 100.... that is the percentage of "new people" you could theoretically meet without even leaving your country! it's practically 100%
all of these crimes can happen in the United States. it's just way more common in those kinds of countries
I would be glad to meet less than 10% population in my country and it's spread over giant territory. Traveling makes it easier to meet new people because you already have in common that you are not from here.
Having a daughter inplies I can trick a girl to have sex with me or at the very least date me which will never happen
because shitholes are cheap
you wouldn't see this happening in the maldives or french polynesia
>meet new people
and what exactly do you gain from this?
care to share a story of you meeting a new person while travelling, and somehow having it enrich your life?
=)
There are cheap ok countries like russia and eastern europe, laos, cambodia, thailand, south korea, bosnia, singapore and many others.
Yeah, my parents met a rich couple in Thailand before I was born and that's how my dad got his job. I also met a lot of friends I can have fun with when they are around my city.
>trick a girl to have sex with me
>date a girl
is it really so different?
Confirmed introvert here, I can say travel appeals to me not because of the people I'd meet but just the sights I'd get to see, and being in a new environment. My whole life ive felt like i'm missing something, and I feel like If I travel enough maybe i'll find that something out there somewhere. Of course, I know thats bullshit and i'll always feel empty inside, but at least travel is getting out of the hometown and experiencing something
>Would you let your daughter travel? Is travel just a meme?
how many of these people that bad things happen to on vacation went roasting or sought drugs?
how many were just enjoying the beach/sights
>I also met a lot of friends
how did you do this? where did you meet them?
If anyone's going to rape my daughter it's me
personally, i found that every place i have visited was exactly as i expected it. probably because i saw photos of it. needless to say, i was never impressed by "sightseeing" at all -- i used to work for a travel company that sold tours in mexico, florida keys, and the carribbean (i lived in central and north florida)
the best memories i have of travelling is the food, honestly. i'm not even fat but i love eating.
i have fond memories of the carlsbad caverns because it was the first time i ever had a pretsel with nacho cheese... i never even knew that was a thing. in fact, i had only thought pretsels were hard and crunchy and people only put mustard (which i hate) on it. boy, was i wrong!
i also went to the grand canyon and mt rushmore and hershey park and the amish country on that same vacation. my fondest memory remains the pretsel
i haven't had one since, and now i'm really craving one
My friend, if I had a pretzel like that I'd give it to you. Merry christmas. I'm thinking about moving to china next year (currently an americuck) to teach english. Interacting with foreign people scares the hell out of me but the whole experience of it still attracts me

It might sound awesome to spent your entire lifetime in your room as a 15 year old. But there will come a time when you realize it will drive you insane, humans are natural explorers, we need to go to new places and see cool things.
Thanks for the links, I will do some digging. Although I can say that I'd only be there for a year so i'm not too concerned about a new system that's still a few years out. Also I'd be using a vpn for internet access there so i'm not too worried about being tracked or censored by the gov
i am 25 years old and i traveled a decent bit, i have been to most US states and i have also been to parts of mexico and the caribean
>we need to go to new places
i am america and this country is MASSIVE, more than you can fathom. there are 50 states, each one a bit different too! there's all sorts of new places i could go in a 50 mile radius from where i am right now
also, why do we 'need' to? i don't understand. we need food, water, oxygen, shelter. we don't 'need' to travel around to all sorts of tourist places
>see cool things
what is so cool that i need to see? the 'wonders of the world' that i saw weren't any more 'cool' than seeing photographs of them. it was an underwhelming experience with people everywhere trying to take my money, really
>But there will come a time when you realize it will drive you insane
that's what travelling did, on top of the altitude sickness i would get, and diarrhea.... literally happens every time i travel, even though i try to eat just as healthy as i do normally
>we need to go to new places and see cool things.
What if there aren't any cool things, though?
For me the concept of travel has been destroyed by the *images* used to sell the concept of travel. The real thing never lives up to the image. For pretty much any destination in the continental US, for example, the photo of a cool vista crops out the fucking trailer park in the foreground. Or the shabby opiate motel. Or the McDonald's.
The only place in America I've visited that wasn't a letdown was the Grand Canyon. And I've already done that, so...
I would let her, but not alone, she would have to go with friends iv met before and trust to also be responsible
And no shithole countries, no africa, south america and most of asia is also out
I have only been to Shenzhen, but from what I have seen there China is kind of shitty. Really anywhere else in Asia would be nicer, unless you specifically want to go to China
lol thats bullshit. Im 24 and I never want to leave my room
everything outside my room sucks
I can genuinely recommend Sweden, lived there for a little, the higher up the better. It's hard to detail why, but my life improved because of the general vibe there. It was easygoing, and really it made me realise my hometown was the cause of my misery, confirmed by me visiting again for 2 weeks. Just everything in my life there brought me down in every way.
I don't understand this hatred of robots for travel. I mean what compels them to be determined to stay where they are? You'd think the robot condition would drive them to find a place they belong.
I would be going to suzhou and I hear it's actually a really nice city
I would love to live in sweden, i've always thought the atmosphere there would really be good for me. Idk why some of these guys want to stay here in America, many parts of Europe are far more socially advanced
