Should a restaurant stay open until posted closing time?
Should a restaurant stay open until posted closing time?
Every minute counts, wagie. If you're not working until the time on your slot, I'm reporting you to your higher ups and you will get fired.
>everyone should go home half an hour later cause I entered the store 5 minutes before closing
Entitled fucks
Yes technically, but that's never really done unless you want an insane turnover rate. The excuse in most restaurants I worked at were cleaning/maintenance. Most people just wanna gtfo at that time anyway, would you want food from someone that wants to clock out asap? No.
If you want to be served on Christmas, dine at some place that doesn't celebrate fuckin Christmas, I'm very sure there's Asian places around. I always go out for dim sum. To be fair I'm Chinese so I guess it's different, but are you really gonna be picky around christmas time, where most workers probably wanna spend christmas with their families at home? Entitled.
No. Closing time is the time you should LEAVE by, not the time you show up by. Arriving 10 minutes before closing is inconsiderate, because the time it would take to take your order, cook your order, and you to eat your order would be well past closing time. You're disrespecting the restaurant workers.
>Should a restaurant stay open until posted closing time?
And beyond if there is someone to serve.
The restaurant has to close sometime. If you just kept letting people in, you might as well run a 24-hour place.
>The restaurant has to close sometime
Yeah, but there is no reason not to serve a couple tables at the end of the night. Unless you're a retarded wageslave working at a chain I guess.
It'd make sense to have a closing time, and a time after which you accept no new customers.
I'm sure most places do have something like this, but it should be formalised and displayed on a sign, since retards like the one in that image don't understand.
>oh okay just give me two cokes then, if the grill is off
>get my cokes and pay for them
>then hurl then both behind the counter
Sorry wagie, guess you have some extra cleaning to do. Hope you don't have to stay later as a result.
I quit a job because I got a page long complaint over being a little mean because some cunts walked in on the last ten minutes before we closed.
Probably set her off even more since I was wearing my MAGA hat.
I'm in a way better situation than back then too. Never let NPCs walk over your principles.
Well... yes. Why even post a closing time if you're not going to adhere to it? It's like those retarded 3rd world countries that can't tell time and think "8 o'clock" means "sometime during the morning I guess".
This.
You also have to account the fucking nigger bosses love forcing us to get everything cleaned and officially closed up in lightning fucking speed.
God I love quitting jobs. Cunt bosses like that coupled with shitty dumb customer scum get me livid.
The best place was the resort in AZ. Just comfy happy boomers and Gen X'ers wanting hotdogs and drinks. Maybe 1 out of every 10 people were slightly assholish.
It pisses me off. mcDonalds is supposed to close for 30 min to change to breakfast at 4am but I've showed up at 3:45 and they say sorry were closed. If those faggots do that again I'm going to find out where they live and make their life hell
Usually restaurants have a "last order" time specified. That's normally 30 minutes before closing time.
It's called closing time not leaving time you entitled little faggot.
Yes.
>Don't do the crime if you want to close on time.
If you order before the posted closing time, you get served. If you try to order after it, you don't. That simple.
Ah yes, because of course it's the min wage workers who decide when the store closes for change over and when it doesn't
Thats right goy stay past closing you gotta work an extra hour until its leaving time. What you want overtime no no no your off the clock at closing time
That shit is why I hated working in kitchens over the summer. I usually wouldn't get out of the kitchen until an hour or two after closing.
Same shit would happen even if I weren't closing, say working the breakfast shift. I never failed to get slammed with a big ass order 10 minutes before I was supposed to leave. So I'd have to cook that order up, and by the time I'm starting on it, I get like 5 more orders. Orders would just pile up until the end of the lunch rush around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
It should be open until the POSTED TIME. Employee hours should be adjusted to have 30 mins after closing time to clean up and leave. I'm sure it's like this already though.
They do the set time is 4am but they are just fucking lazy and theres nobody to complain to.
Your job is not hard, and part of the job is cleaning up after closing you fucking retard.
>Man found in gutter with two coke bottles shoved up his rear end.
>Police, in an official statement, said: "he looked like the kind of guy who had it coming. Anyway, he was found 5 minutes before the station closed. So, we'll look into first thing 2nd January. Happy Christmas and new year folks. God bless."
If you want people to adhere to the closing time they would be in their right to only continu serving the people for exactly ten minutes and then immediatly throw them out.
It's just another case of entitled normies taking things for granted. If they can't get what they want now, they throw a tantrum. People are so fucking spoiled.
>tfw prepare every burger with dirty hands
I sometimes pick my nose, scratch my butt, cough repeatedly in my hands, literally jerk off sometimes while in the bathroom before coming back in the kitchen without having washed my hands on purpose and giggling to myself.
Enjoy your combo, NEET!
Should a restaurant stay open until the stated closing time?
Yes.
However, often times the management doesn't allow for this to be a realistic goal. They also say that employees must clock out by the closing time. Forcing the employees to work on shutting stuff down while in the last hour or so of operating hours, which impacts service.
The solution to this is to structure the schedule to account for someone staying an hour after closing to finish cleaning up.
This is purely a management issue.
You guys realize a restaurant can be open and not serving new customers, right?
Yet another reason to only cook your own food.
Damn Chad Michael Michael that motherfucker has three first names
so how does that make it open? why not just keep it closed until things are ready to order or if people are getting ready to leave?
At my job, we just have it posted that we close at 5:30 , but officially we all work til 6.
It's open so the people who showed up and ordered at a reasonable time can finish eating and leave, not so some jackasses can come in and try to make the restaurant workers work an extra hour or two.
if workers dont want people to order early they should just close the doors desu. theyre just inviting in more headaches by keeping the place open
If the restaurant closes there shouldn't be any customers left in it
Then make the closing time 2 hours earlier if you're so incompent. It's false advertisement
Not the user you're replying to, but you can close the doors, if you have doors which soft lock then anyone can leave but no one can come in. A lot of chain places have these kinds of doors (the ones with the push bars) but if they don't then they'd be unable to lock the doors until the last customers left, meaning new people can come in, hence why they need to refuse service after a certain time despite being "open"
Ofc there is, you don't want to work more than what you get paid for. I worked in places where you get half an hour to clean up after closing, (paid), aswell as places where you have to hope that there is no nigger showing up 5 minutes prior to closing down, wanting to eat a 3 course menu.
Believe me, you don't want to order 5 minutes prior to closing down. People will either fuck with your food or will try to send it as quick as possible. I've seen colleagues put duck breast into the microwave to get it done quicker or rub a shrimp along their public area right before putting it into the pan.
Bon Appetit.
at least this isn't as bad as mcdonald's
>order a chocolate shake at a 24-hour store
>the pajeet always says the machine is broken
>picked up that this is a way of saying "can't be fucked cleaning the machine after it's been used once"
>have never actually received a shake after ordering one god knows how many times
>they always try to compensate with disgusting frappes, which are just ice-cream headaches with whipped cream on top
>can't argue with the manager since he's a pajeet and i have appalling debating skills anyway
what do?
Yes, or at least they should put an additional "kitchen closes at XX:XX" so people know until what hour they can get food, and additionally at what hour they need to fuck off to their homes.
this is why I always stay one hour longer in walmart, i just tell them its closing time not leaving time
> "can't be fucked cleaning the machine after it's been used once"
Everyone knows that when a McDonald's says their ice cream machine is "broken" (and it always is no matter where you go), this is what they actually mean every time.
Lmao walmart never closes anyway. I'm sure they're secretely laughing at you.
If its fast food they should. It should only take 90 seconds to get your order ready if there is no one else in line ahead of you. For a sit down restaurant, no.
yes but at 6pm they should have kicked them out
or whatever store
Honey, if you cant cook in 10 minutes, that's YOUR problem. Maybe you should have a later closer time.
stop being retarded faggots. you cant cook and serve a meal in 10 minutes. imagine thinking everyone doesn't have anything better to do but wait on your stupid ass because you decided to come 10 minutes before they close.
my point was more they get kicked out halfway through their meal, if they are the only ones in the restaurant 10 minutes to serve up the food is easy
If you said this to me, I'd send it to corporate. I hope you enjoy homelessness
oh please no! not my wagies!
not my fault you're too stupid to get a real job
Where I work we server people until exact closing time but we're given no expectations to pretend like we aren't cleaning and taking of shit prior to closing nor are we expected to not do certain things because a customer is eat at 8:15.
>Customers come in at 7:55
>Orders full meals for their families
>Closing time hits
>Everyone gets out of uniform
>Puts in ear buds
>Starts closing
>They regularly keep coming back to the counter with minor requests which half the time aren't heard because we have ear buds in
>On top of this the dinning room dude has been using the "silent vacuum" (Still relatively loud and moving tables around to clean the floor
>There's a lot of obtuse language being used
>One dude flips his shit and calls us rude and inconsiderate for wearing ear buds when customers are in the shop
>Snap back "Bro, we're closed and have been for over 15 minutes... We close an hour early on Sundays..."
>Demands to see my manager
>Manager tells him that we're to serve customers who come in prior to close but corporate does not expect us to cease closing operations because people are in. We're also required to kick them out 30 minutes after close
>Claims he's going to whine to corporate
>Literally no one is wearing a name-tag, not even the manager so technically no one can get in trouble
>Corporate never says shit.
>imagine thinking everyone doesn't have anything better to do but wait on your stupid ass because you decided to come 10 minutes before they close.
Woke up my dad laughing at this.
Further discussion on the matter. Personally, I like this town. The drama constantly amuses.
Based Hairy Terry the Homeless Fairy
Your town sounds like a hoot
This mentality is literally why poverty and crime exists
Jesus Christ man I'm working today and tomorrow and I just hope no faggot customers are gonna wanna hang out and then not even fucking tip well.
As someone who worked at fast food we always hated those people.More or less the last 25-10 minutes of a store before it closes are just so people can finish buying/eating.When people come in around this time we already start cleaning so it either stops are progress or makes us start over
It's a dick move going into restaurants ten mins before closing but it is also saying no to money. Some owners would make the people stay on, I've worked somewhere where even if we got huge table wanting all three courses they'd make us continue.
I think ideal is probably saying okay, but saying kitchen is about to close and strongly implying chefs will hate you if you order 3 courses and well done steaks
Probably, but that doesn't change the fact that there's a courtesy you as a custromer owe the people working there. If I ever stop by a place within a half hour of them closing, I'm always sure to ask if they're still taking orders first. Also, the people in your pic are definitely white trash if they're getting fast food on christmas so it doesn't matter anyways and I'm glad they were treated like shit.
No it can't be the fact that most criminals and fast food workers are retarded apes.
>work shit fast food job
>take it out on customers and lose business
Wow, epic. It's too bad he was working a highly skilled position, finding a replacement fry cook will be a nightmare!
Why don't they just put up a "we stop serving food at 5:30" notice
Should have brought your fat ass earlier to the store or better yet be a good Christian and learn to cook for your family fat piece of shit.
Merry Christmas!
Most retarded ape people aren't criminals though.
No most niggers commit crimes and talk about it all the time. Niggers are natural born criminals. All niggers are bad people.
They're still a liability. Honestly can't wait until robots replace fast food workers and that class of people starve to death.
I meant any
The AI fags won't survive when all the rapefugees they've let in destroys their little gay utopia when those class of people start starving to death.
>step 3: get cited.for disorderly conduct.
>your off the clock at closing time
Thats illegal.
Worked in a Walgreens liquor deep that opened at noon and closed at 10pm Tuesday to Saturday
Department was closed on Sunday and Monday (my days off), I was the only certified liquor salesman in the store, besides 1 assistant manager
State allowed packaged liquor sales from 8am until 1am
People would line up at the separate liquor entrance and bang on the door at 8am
Sundays people would screem at the managers because of no liquor
My register would not allow anything listed as liquor to be rung up after 10pm, had signs up, even on the door
Always someone running in at 9:55pm, I would tell them, "oh I know what I want", 10pm, lock the door, turn off half the lights, announce were closed, up they come, tell them no sales, start screaming about the LAW, they will sue, had a few call 9-1-1 because we were closed before 1am
I was paid from noon to 10pm, I had a 5 minute clock in or out limit, no overtime, or written up, 50 hours a week and 0 extra
We weren't the only liquor sales in town, but we were the cheapest
Sales ended at 10pm, not in the store before 10, over at 10
Like the people that would tell me, there's a store, 25 miles away, that has this beer on sale for X, "good go over there", I found this Glenlivet in a space marked $1.99, take a look, tab says it space is for and has Mickey's singles, nope, but you have to honor this, no I don't, the customer is always right, in liquors the customer is usually wrong
>he still believes in this fanfiction
If you're the kind of asshole to show up 1 minute before closing, fucking kill yourself.
that mr wakaruk is going to snap one day
I work in a hospital and if someone is brought in with a stroke or some shit 5 mins before by shift ends, I can't simply leave.
Should they
Yes
Should you get mad because they closed 10 minutes early
No you entitled boomer faggot
This. You know she just said ten minutes before closing time to make her story sound better. It was probably like 558 they rolled up and got mad they were turned away.
Yeah because food is a life and death situation fucking retard
No. If the store was slow all day and you were told to clean early, it'd cost the store more to stay open for that one entitled idiot unless he's going to order 75 dollars of food.
they are working though, they're cleaning everything up so everything will be good to go when they open.
based, and I still get fast food
don't order anything from any of those machines, including ice cream, mocha frappe shit, ice chocolate, whatever. They're always full of mold on the inside. They never get serviced.
why do they not have a 'last call' for food?
lol damn, alcoholics suck. Imagine thinking all businesses that sell alcohol sell it for the entire duration of legal hours.
Thats why I make my employees start cleaning up 30 minutes before closing you fucking retard. That way when closing comes we all just leave because who wants to actually stay until its leaving time? Also makes it easier to tell retards who come in 10 minuets before closing to fuck off. I'm sure Mr. Shekelberg tells you have to stay after your shift to clean up but if you just cleaned up before hand you wouldn't have to, matter of fact come work for me my boy I wont make you stay late
because A&W is a fast food place, not a real restaurant.
Most fast food restaurants don't. I worked the closing shift at Wendy's and we would get assholes like this all the time demanding huge orders minutes before closing. All the stuff we did early gone to waste, plus the extra time to make their shit. To make it worse, if the GM was there and more people lined up before the order went out, we had to take their order too. We have been open 30 minutes late before just taking extra orders. There were plenty of nights where we were still closing the restaurant an hour after we stopped serving, the latest being nearly two hours.
this is why i quit fast food. i would have punched every customer and my GM in the face if i could but instead i had to be civil and suck it up and bust my ass just because they want to squeeze a little more profit in. yeah nah cunt.
It's actually better you never get a milkshake from there. Dairy product using machines need to be cleaned twice a day, possibly 3 times due to how bacteria grows in the lines so fast.
You are asking for food poisoning desu
There is objectively nothing wrong with it if customers know this before entering establishment.
