How to stop sleeping too much? I usually sleep for 12-20 hours a day, i've started to develop heat rashes from laying in bed too long. How do i make it so that i can sleep about 6-8 hours without falling asleep when i'm awake?

What do you do on a day to day basis? Are you depressed at all or have any sort of mental illness? Do you take any medication? Do you have sleep apnea? What's your diet like?
There's a million factors that go into your sleeping habits.

Well, most obvious thing'll be to find things to keep you awake. I know you're probably a fat fuck but here's one, move around a bit, do some exercises at home or jump like an autist to get some blood flowing. Use the blood flowing to play games better, like fighting games.

Try temporary forms of energy like candy, monster, or redbull. First option works for SOME people

Also, you may have a thyroid defiency, as someone who has one, having a thyroid deficiency and not taking medicine can make you extremely tired. This might be the case for you, go to the doctor or something and see if you do.

Take B12 supplements if you're able to as well, they're over-the-counter and is a way of getting your body to create more of it's 'natural' energy.

Just some tips, I had to rush so I didn't put everything I got for ya.

eat on a schedule
four meals every four hours with eight hours sleep
lets say.. wake up at 8am, eat breakfast
eat at 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, them go to bed between 10pm and 12am. eating regular meals like this will give you enough energy to stay awake during the day

Usually watch youtube videos and anime, sometimes study stuff that im interested in like languages.
I dont usually feel depressed, just empty. People i know tell me i should get checked for autism.
I dont take any at the moment.
No, not that im aware of.
I usually eat 1 meal a day, something like a plate of rice. Rest is usually flavoured water and sometimes sweets.

I dance to songs in my room and dont eat much so im quite skinny and fit.
I drink energy drnks sometimes but theyre not very good long term they also dont seem to work as much as i think they should.
Ill try and check it out if i can.
Ill try buy some supplements as well if i have time.

I dont think i would be able to eat 4 meals every 4 hours without being sick user

Change you diet. Cut out the sweets, replace the rice or add to it and start eating stuff that actually has nutritional value. Your body probably sleeps so long to conserve energy since it doesn't have a reliable source of good energy. I'm guessing your pretty skinny and don't have a lot of fat on you. You need to change that. Also go and exercise. Even something as simple as a walk or riding your bike will do wonders for you.

If those don't help (you should still do them because it's good for you) go and do a sleep study and see some doctors. But I'm guessing 99.99% of you problems stem from your diet and sedentary lifestyle. Also if you don't have a job or aren't going to school look into changing that. Keeps your mind busy and if you enjoy what you do then that could fill the emptiness you feel.

I'm not a doctor or anything but I'm just recommending all that since it's what has helped me have a normal sleep schedule.

I do have other things than rice, such as bacon, tomatoes, pasta, general food etc.
I used to walk every day for miles but ive explored nearly everywhere i live, its boring now. i do walk around the house when im thinking though.
I went to college but im off for three months because of hospital appointments, they probably wont let me back becuase they kick you out if you go below 75% attendance, im at 83%.

You probably need to eat more then. Do you have any idea how many calories you eat in a day? If you have one massive meal a day divide that into smaller 3 or 4 meals. If you have one small meal a day then start adding stuff to that meal and slowly build up to eat multiple small meals a day or just a few big ones. If you're at all able to look into seeing a nutritionist or someone who specializes in diets. Hell even your regular doctor could most likely help you.

I probably eat an average or slighlty lower than average ampunt of calories a day.Its not that i couldnt divide these meals up its just that im not hungry enough to eat that amount.

Do you have narcolepsy or something?

Possibly, i used to sleep in the library and on the grass during school.

You also mentioned you have doctors appointments, what are those for?

Even if you aren't hungry you should still eat something and more calories in you than you already do.

>20 hours a day
what the fuck? how?

I had an operation on my back a couple weeks ago which requires my bandages being changed every day but ive had this problem longer. What if i feel full? I dont think its that good to eat food when it hurts to eat it.

I dont know how it happens, i think its when i spend longer than 10 hours awake, it doesnt happen most of the time but its annoying.
>go to bed at 2 am
>wake up at 11 pm
>if my mum is home she'll tell me to go back to bed

Did you have the same sleeping habits before the surgery? If you didn't then the surgery might have something to do with it.

yes, ive had this problem for longer than ive had the surgery.

I see. Talk to your doctor about it, he/she will probably be able to help you more than random people on Jow Forums

This. It could be any number of things. Your doctor can probably infer a lot more about you by just being able to see your face. That being said, what worked for me, was literally just forcing myself to wake up at a certain time with alarms, spaced to go off every 5 minutes, that way I couldn't turn one off in my sleep. Over time it became habit, and I threw away the alarms. Forcing yourself to do things forces your body to adapt, and it can be easy or hard.

I guess, they probably just prescibe you caffeine/glucose tablets though, as they usually do

I have slept through alarms before. even when on full volume and on 10 minute intervals. It might be that i dont really have anything worth waking up for though.

If you have a phone, they make alarm clock apps that force you to do math questions to turn it off. Try keeping it close to your head when you sleep that way you can hear it loud and clear. You can also have an alarm clock that sits a decent away from your bed, so you have to get up to turn it off. Those things can get REALLY fucking loud. Anything you can't shut off unconsciously, and is decently loud enough to annoy you is what you should aim for.

I dont have a phone but i do have an alarm clock, its loud enough that it shakes the room when i forget to turn it off, i still have slept through it though.

Try getting a new alarm clock, with a different sound. My experience ends at this point, because I didn't have much more trouble than that. Go to a doctor and see what advice they have. I don't know of any sleep medication for sleeping too deeply/not being able to wake up, so I doubt they can give you something for it, but maybe the doctor has had the same issue and fixed it.

Ive done that before, thats why i have a really loud alarm clock now. Anyway, thanks for the advice i guess. i appreciate it.

Maybe but if those don't help they might recommend you get a sleep study done. You could have undiagnosed sleep apnea or something you don't know about.

Yeah i might check it out, i cant be bothered taking medicine though since it never really seems to work to the extent it should. I took five 30mg codeine tablets about 5 hours ago and the only thing thats happened is that my stomach hurts.
