All that matter is if you can recover. If you're still sore the next workout, you are not recovering properly and have low testosterone. At that point, it's pointless to keep going to the gym.

DOMS usually occurs due to a change in exercise, such as a different movement, large change in weight or volume.
You don't get DOMS if you do the same exercise more frequently.
For example I squat MWF and I never get sore. 170kg 3x5 Mon, 130kg 2x5 Wed, 200+ 1x5 Fri.

think of it like this (this is very simplified), here's what "causes" soreness:
1. changes in exercises performed (something as simple as switching from dumbell bench to barbell bench, or performing a new movement you haven't done anything similar to before)
2. changes in volume/intensity (going from 3x10 to 5x5, changing rest times drastically, working at higher or lower % of your 1rm)
3. being new to training, or coming off of a time of being de-trained
4. improper recovery
basically, keep lifting. While intense pain (sharp/shooting, electrical/nerve, joint/boney) is bad, muscle soreness is fine. You can train when sore.
Trying to explain this to my brainlet dudebro friends is maddening. They think getting DOMS every time they squat is a good thing. I think it's because they only squat once a month.
DOMS are the ultimate gain. If you dont have doms even after years of gym you are worthless and wont get any more muscle. Just stop lifting if you dont have doms. Im being serious here.

You don't get DOMS cause you don't do any volume. Do 5x10 and you will get doms.

I want to get stronger, I'd ask you to do 3x5 at 170kg and see if you're sore but you can't do it for a single.
Mobility exercises, stretching, lots of water, get enough protein in your diet, and keep working out even when you are sore. Your body will adapt to the stress you put on it.

Sauna is amazing for DOMS. I did the leg day at 12 and I'll go to the sauna at 17, just in time for the soreness to kick in. Afterwards I'll feel great and completely relaxed and soreness-free.

This. Doing something like SS you’ll have DOMS every chest session (working chest only 1.5 times per week) Switch to two or three (heavy medium light) days and it should reduce.
Imo light wednesday preps me for Monday DOMS. Chest day Wednesday is just too light; every subsequent Monday on TM my chest is still sore till Friday when I start lifting again.

Yeah, I do that now. Frankly I’m not seeing an advantage to benching 3x5@80% with 5 days of rest before and after. Texas Method is simply not enough volume over a two week period for me.

3 times a week is good volume for me- Monday 8x5 bench, Wednesday 3x5 incline bench, Friday try to hit a heavy triple and maybe do some more volume after.

I'm messing with squat volume at the moment because 5x5 at 170kg was killing me, couldn't perform well on Friday. And I don't think I should go on to advanced programming yet either
