Is 1/2/3/4 a meme?

So supposodly you should hit 1 pl8 shoulder press and 2 pl8 bench at about the same time, yet I can already shoulder press 1pl8 (60kg) yet I can only bench about 80kg. Is 1/2/3/4 a meme? Or are my shoulders just naturally stronger than average?

I can bench 255 for reps but I can’t oh aych pee 135 yet

1/2/3/4 is pretty good if you've been lifting 6 months, it's a gold standard.

You're shoulders aren't necessarily "stronger than average". But your chest is definitely weaker than your shoulders. My press was also ahead of my bench, it just took a little time to catch up. Keep lifting bro

No, I'm asking if you should really hit 1pl8 shoulder press and 2pl8 bench at around the same time. I feel like it should be more like 1.5/2/3/4?

I'm at 2/3/4.5/4.5 and still feel like a dyel

you think thats bad huh
i havent benched in half a year cuz i think the movement is stupid and i dont need much lower or middle chest in my goal physique
my ohp is about 75x1 and my flat bench is something barely above 80kg
and yes 1/2/3/4 is kind of a meme its a decent beginner milestone if you want strength goals but if you have more defined strength goals like getting really strong on one movement then focus on that movement and you will be much happier with yourself, same applies to physique goals

I have the same problem, 62.5kg OHP 88kg BENCH, I'm trying more BENCH days with less intensity (70% of my max) and then 1 day going for my 5 rep max.

I'm trying to follow what Firas Zahabi said on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Probably because you're comparing yourself to the liars and trolls of Jow Forums. At my gym you'd easily be one of the strongest guys inside at any given minute.

thnx bro

absolutely baste. good taste.

185lb ohp is significantly more difficult than 2/3/4

God this meme is great. Keep it up

This. I squat 2.5pl8, which is nothing. I rarely see people squat more than 2pl8 at full ROM.

Have hit 185 ohp (strict) but not 2/3/4. I'm 5'10" with 6'2" wingspan for reference. Are you guys all shoulderlets or just incredibly lanky?

He was talking about training to fight tho. Get more total time training for technique purposes

Enjoy having black sons.

Beginner question: is 1/2/3/4 for your 1rm or 5rm?

its for 5 sets of 12 reps, don't be silly user.

wow that's crazy, i can OHP 145 but my bench press (incline BB only due to joints) is only 185. bodies are different i guess

Damn, guess I'll be forever DYEL then.

If you want a serious answer though, its for 5 reps.

replying to myself, despite my wording, these weights are my working weights, and my OHP is strict OHP. 6'3", 2:1 shoulder to waist ratio.

Thanks man

wrong, y'all niggers are just push pressing
OHP should be about 65% of your bench press, so 65 kg OHP is proportional to 100 kg bench, which is close to 1/2 ratio.
1/2/3/4 is accurate
so is 1.5/2.5/5/6
and 2/3.25/6/7
