I feel kinda bad since I can already see in my dad what happened with my grandfather: he's becoming a different person as he gets old. His personality and all the things I remember about him from when I was a kid are slowly leaving him. I'm watching him slowly, over the course of years, become a stranger.
My dad will be gone one day but by that time he won't be my dad anymore.

I know what you mean, aging and the circumstances that go along with it can really alter the personality and outlook of people for better or worse. Relationships can also change over time, now that you are older you can't really have the same relationship with him as a kid. Just try and establish a healthy dialogue with him. It's definitely hard especially if your dad isn't forthright about his feelings like mine is but it's possible he has experienced similar situations that you face and might have wisdom to impart.
