So I found out Lactose IS sugar today but because of it's shape, it isn't as sweet as other sugars. (lactose free just means the lactose is broken down, not removed so the sugar remains).

One cup of milk (244g) has 3.25 teaspoons of sugar in it. Thoughts?

lactose free has lactase added to break it down, further adding to the shuger. other than that, shit thread, and you should feel embarassed. Why do you think diabetics can't into milk

This. You're retarded, OP. My sincerest condolences

Lactose is why milk tastes sweet user, and why milk has carbs, fortunately milk isn't empty like soda, but you should cut down on it if your trying to lose weight

Lactose have the same metabolic effects as fructose. Obviously if you're a fatty you should avoid milk but it's still GOAT for bulking.

Just don't drink cups of milk all the time.

Sugar has no negative effects. It's literally just energy.

Apparently it lowers your IQ

I get crazy acne from all carbs, but when I quit most carbs other than lactose, I can drink a gallon a day and get absolutely no acne at all. So it wosn't appear to affect the body in the same way

lactose is tasteless and milk doesn't taste sweet at all, have you ever tried drinking SKIM milk? the lactose has no impact in the taste whatsoever, it's the fat that makes it "sweet" as you call it, not the lactose.
breastmilk doesn't seem to lower IQ
biggest consumer of milk is finland and it's the country with the highest IQ in the west.

no they don't, lactose essentially acts the same way as fiber, the energy you derive from lactose comes in the form of a fatty acid, the same thing that occurs with the ingestion of fiber and gut fermentation turning it into available energy from SCFA's.

lactose isn't really sugar for starters, its metabolism is similar to that of fat

What? You do realize that lactase is an enzyme, not a sugar, right?

milk consumpt ion is consistently associated with lower fat mass and higher lean mass

even when controlling for calories milk is way less fattening than other meals with similar macros

lactose is a special kind of sugar, it doesn't taste sugary at all and it doesn't get metabolized the same as other sugars.

It's scientific consensus that sugar has no independent negative effects. Feel free to look up any of the position papers of the WHO, FDA, any government agency. Recommending a specific limit on sugar intake is pure politics and not based on any science. The purpose of the limit is only to make people reduce their intake of ultraprocessed foods, which contribute 90% of sugar intake (bmjopen.bmj.com/content/6/3/e009892). Sugar preference and intake by themselves are associated with lower body weight and lower risk of diabetes cell.com/cell-metabolism/abstract/S1550-4131(17)30214-0

Lactose won't get digested by the bacteria in your mouth so it doesn't cause dental problems.

The problem with your analysis is that you're saying LACTOSE IS SUGAR and posting a picture of refined sugar which is sucrose, a disaccharide of glucose and fructose. Pure sucrose is what everybody eats in large amounts and does cause dental problems and a bunch of other shit too because it is the only sugar which, when digested by bacteria, allows them to form a microfilm, i.e. plague.

You really need to pay attention to the different types of sugars, much like the different types of fats. Lactose in particular is slowly broken because our body has to provide lactase enzymes itself to release the monosaccharides glucose and galactose which it uses for energy. This is unlike, say, glucose which can be directly absorbed very quickly into the body, spiking blood sugar.

Remember the RDA for sugar is around 90g for an average male which is around 1.6L of milk if you're not eating any other sugars. This may be higher if you're weight training 4 times a week.

Milk has half as much sugar as Coca-Cola

That shouldn't bother you unless you're one of the fools who thinks carbs have supernatural properties:
or you got roped into GOMAD hocus pocus

>calling molecular structure 'shape'
>t. retard

>fatty acid
Not even close son.

Lactase cleaves the disaccharide into its constituent monosaccharides: that is galactose and glucose. Both of which are transported through the endothelium by SGLUT-1.

At no point in this process are fatty acids involved.

Sounds like you're an idiot with little to no knowledge of nutrition.

>90g RDA
wut? Ameritard Standards?

ss+gomad

many people get acne from milk, especially pasteurized milk.
It's likely the net quantity of carbs and/or the combination of carbs+fat in one meal that trigger acne.
